Really sad to see Rhodes leave, but I don't really blame the guy. He has been fantastic during his time at the club while we have never really threatened for promotion and that was the main reason for him coming to the club after all...to get to the premier league.

We are a much different club than we were when first relegated and a potential £9 million up front that will rise to £13 million is something that I don't think Rovers can afford to pass up on if it means bringing in players that are more suited to the way PL wants the team to play then we could potentially move forward.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely gutted but trying to see some sort of positive from this. Bizarrely our local rivals proved that you can sell your best player in Charlie Austin and then go and get promoted the next season.

It doesnt mean relegation at all.

We have to trust Lambert.

He is proven at this level

Forshaw would be good.

From John Percy of the Daily Telegraph

Jordan Rhodes will have a medical at Middlesbrough on Saturday after an initial £9m fee was agreed. Deal could rise to £13m #mfc #brfc

Sorry chaddyrovers but selling Rhodes would be relegation unless a miracle

We struggle to keep the ball and pass around and score goals so without Rhodes who is the only one capable of scoring them we are @#/?

Graham has scored plenty of goals at this level. You only need one goal to win a game.

If we can become a better all-round team, and continue to sign players like Watt, I think we'll be fine.

Not for years and it does not look like we will be bringing any players in to make us a better team maybe mcgeady very real chance a forward line of Brown Delpho Graham Watt and Jackson would get us less than 10 goals between them.

It's a risk I'd sooner have faced in the summer window. Big ask to gel a front two half way into a season. But Graham is proven at this level and Watt seems to be a very mobile and tenacious player. I'm hoping the sum total of Graham and Watt is better than Rhodes and Brown. It could quite easily be. Something has to change because Rhodes up top on his own isn't working and never has.

You'd have to assume that if he leaves then we'd be looking to supplement our pedestrian midfield with some attacking flair and someone capable of hitting the back of the net too.

It's a big risk of course. But let's be honest it was looking increasingly like we don't have the players to compliment Rhodes and perhaps it's time to accept we have to go in a different direction. Rhodes was the cherry on top. The trouble is in order to have a cherry on top first of all you need a cake. And we are cakeless!

I'm a big fan of his finishing but I said that he doesnt suit Lambert's tactics or style of play.

But we do need another striker in now..

Expecting a busy time transfer wise

Graham's only scored a handful of goals in the last few years and Watt only has a handful in his career to date. Very very risky if nobody else is brought in, especially given our current league position.

I reckon Lambert feels Graham will flourish being the main man and getting a little love. I'll admit that's a big risk though.

Graham hasn't been settled for awhile, but he still did well on-loan at 'Boro a couple of seasons ago.

I admit that it's a risky time to be selling our top goalscorer, but for all we know Lambert has deals lined up that require a big money sale before they can go through. Rhodes wasn't going to figure into his long-term plans anyway.

So if we get Kike on loan, and we have Graham and Watt. What about using the Rhodes money to get 2 quality midfielders?

Well if Forshaw from Boro is also part of this deal then him alongside McGeady would be ok with me.

Would still like us to actually replace Rhodes though, even if just via a loan deal. I saw Watt as more of a Koita replacement myself, maybe that's just wishful thinking!
