Despite the performances, the losses and the lacklustre signings I've backed Lambert because I believe he has a long term plan but selling Rhodes this late, in January, is suicidal. I thought he might go in the Summer when we could strengthen and buy a decent replacement. However we've now three scenarios that I can see.

1) we have someone lined up who is amazing.

2) we're taking a risk relying on our current strike force to keep us in the league.

3) we're going to panic buy on the last day and buy a donkey on inflated wages.

Edit: This is Blackburn Rovers 2016, so I'm not expecting number 1.

I'm hoping scenario 1 it is. Lambert did say that there are players who will come, or that he is working on, that will surprise many people. I'm hoping it's now

Get a grip. Weve lost better in past, shearer, sutton, cruz, beni mac, bellers. WE ALWAYS BOUNCE BACK. Coyb. Theres no hatred, rhodes is a legend. But lamberts management wont suit him just like scotland and strachan.

It's all relevant though, the names you listed we were a better side. Right now Rhodes was the only shining light at the club, and if you think we're better off without him then I think you're crazy. Unless you can guarantee me the players we sign will be the answer I won't change my stance

Gutted if Rhodes goes.

Big question also for mw how the hell can boro do that with ffp?

They're top of the league at the end of Jan. They go up, fail FFP but Lawyer up and get away with it. They don't go up (very unlikely) they get an embargo and have one more go next year.

Would be reasonably satisfied if Nakhi Wells was brought in.

I'm not sure I would be. We've then got to hope that he and Watt (and the other twenty strikers we've signed) score the same amount of goals he did and neither are as prolific.

Wouldn't be as worried if the rest of the team were scoring and we weren't in our current league position. As it is, it's a big risk.

We hadn't been dry bummed by venkys when we sold the above ... Do really think venkys are gonna bounce us back ? Hand on heart really ?

Yep fair comment. Rhodes is a good player, to deny would be crazy. However the side under lambert hasnt scored goals, you and we all need to trust lambert.

I do trust lambert, and I really hope he has a plan that works. But right now this hurts like hell, and it doesn't help with fans tryna get one over on eachother left right and centre, claiming that our star striker will be no big loss

Yeah I get that but what gets me is how we have a system where that's ok. I mean it's not rocket science any bit of forward thinking/planning would've shown that could happen and therefore put something in place to stop jt. As it is it's just another rule to help the big boys out.

I understand pal. To lose your star striker is always a blow. There shouldnt be arguing, he was quality, simple.

6 months ago I would have gone buck wild at this. But I can't help but think theres no other club out there that would pay that sort of money for Rhodes. Well, unless his Uncle moves clubs again.

Would I prefer to keep him? Yes. Can I accept us staying up this year and spending in summer? Yes.

Now its time to wait and see if the second one comes off...

yep, can understand what you are saying but it depends on the style or tactics you are trying to play or achieve. Rhodes was the only shining light some 3 months ago but now is he? When he does not score, maybe just maybe he is a luxury because he does not offer anything else but in the "new" way of playing, press high up the pitch, would he fit in? Football is a team game. Let's just take. Our time before coming to a conclusion.

It's going to be a struggle to stay up as it is.

We really need Graham or Watt to step up. Risky.

We haven't actually bounced back though have we.

There are 2 worse teams than us, thankfully.

Of course the danger is now that with only 3 days left of the window and £9m burning a hole in our pocket we get shafted and pay over the odds for players .... It would not come as a shock to me if we did not buy anyone now , just maybe sneak 1 more loan in

This might well be an important moment for us. Its the right time to sell JR in my opinion. He is playing terribly and clearly does not fit the PL style of play. He is a VERY limited player and its no coincidence that a striker as prolific as JR is not playing in the top flight and is not regularly selected for his national team. He is slow and is not particularly good at holding the ball up or passing or contributing in any way other than scoring (and he has stopped doing that recently). On occasions he has barely touched the ball for whole matches, which is not what we need right now. With him upfront playing in the PL style we have been about as toothless offensively as I've ever seen, so why persevere with this losing formula? Selling JR will only be a positive thing though if we reinvest the money wisely! 3 very good £3million signings will be more useful to us than one JR. If we waste the money or don't reinvest it, then it will be disastrous. I hope PL knows what he's doing!

Having written the above I should note that JR has been fantastic for us. He is a supreme finisher and a consummate professional. I hope he does well at Boro!

So he's had one season in the championship in his career then?

I'm a big Lambert fan but saying he's experienced at this level is stretching things a bit surely. Roy Keane got Sunderland up.

(Now you've removed your comment Reidy it makes mine make no sense lol)

At least Keane quit Villa so Lambert didn't bring the thug here.

Adrian Boothroyd would be the extreme example but hopefully Lambert won't go the same way.

Trying to find out from Kamy who the "creative midfielder" is he mentioned earlier today. Maybe some others should tweet him as well see if its more likely now.
