Baz Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Of course the danger is now that with only 3 days left of the window and £9m burning a hole in our pocket we get shafted and pay over the odds for players .... It would not come as a shock to me if we did not buy anyone now , just maybe sneak 1 more loan in If we aren't sure, then go for a loan deal.

booth Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 This might well be an important moment for us. Its the right time to sell JR in my opinion. He is playing terribly and clearly does not fit the PL style of play. He is a VERY limited player and its no coincidence that a striker as prolific as JR is not playing in the top flight and is not regularly selected for his national team. He is slow and is not particularly good at holding the ball up or passing or contributing in any way other than scoring (and he has stopped doing that recently). On occasions he has barely touched the ball for whole matches, which is not what we need right now. With him upfront playing in the PL style we have been about as toothless offensively as I've ever seen, so why persevere with this losing formula? Selling JR will only be a positive thing though if we reinvest the money wisely! 3 very good £3million signings will be more useful to us than one JR. If we waste the money or don't reinvest it, then it will be disastrous. I hope PL knows what he's doing! Having written the above I should note that JR has been fantastic for us. He is a supreme finisher and a consummate professional. I hope he does well at Boro! For me it's a terrible time to sell no matter which way I look at it. We really need to reinvest now, and the last two days of the Jan transfer window isn't the best time to get value for money. What do we do, panic buy on someone now and spend more than we would in Summer, or wait till Summer and hope we're still in this league? Both aren't ideal case scenarios. I just think it's gone from being a tough old season to a nail biting one. Not relegation contenders for me and the difference between us and the bottom was Rhodes. Please save my fingernails PL.
Backroom Mike E Posted January 29, 2016 Backroom Posted January 29, 2016 Is the window still open all day 1st Feb? I think til 11pm?
pnejazz Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Fee agreed with Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes on the same day that Wigan terminate Grant Holt's contract. COINCIDENCE?
LewisF Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Fee agreed with Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes on the same day that Wigan terminate Grant Holt's contract. COINCIDENCE? yes
BlueMonday Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Fee agreed with Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes on the same day that Wigan terminate Grant Holt's contract. COINCIDENCE? Just when we think things couldn't get worse, you turn up to remind us we aren't Nobbers, and things don't seem so bad. COINCIDENCE?
Baz Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Fee agreed with Middlesbrough for Jordan Rhodes on the same day that Wigan terminate Grant Holt's contract. COINCIDENCE? Probably, why would you care though?
Bucksrover Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Plenty of time for signings. Most happen on the evening of the last day.

Speedie Dived Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Listen boys, don't panic. Get your @#/? together and we will be a better side. We will give Rudy and Jordan a wave as we pass them
Spankus Munky Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 All Jackson, Watt & Graham need to do is hit 12 goals between them by the end of this season and they have equalled the grand total our strikers have scored this Championship season so far, including Rhodes. Does anyone really think that is not possible? Rhodes or No Rhodes, Rovers fate wont be decided by this sale
Mani Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I don't subscribe to doom and gloom. Rovers will survive without Rhodes. I posted that remark because several people ridiculed that point. With no basis at all for their argument. Anyway, let's see who we buy!!
roverandout Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 You don't sell your only player and make progress Changed it Would be reasonably satisfied if Nakhi Wells was brought in. Wells, no thanks, not even half the player Rhodes is, would rather wait until the summer than blow it on some lower half championship standard player

Does anyone really think that is not possible? Rhodes or No Rhodes, Rovers fate wont be decided by this sale It's possible but it's also possible they'll only be as good as all the others that have come and gone over the past few years. The only one that has ever been prolific is Graham and that was a while ago. Watt shows promise so there's hope. Just a massive gamble for me at this stage to rely on a lad that isn't prolific and a player that's only scored one goal in about two years. We had guaranteed goals (and just when he seemed to be returning from his drought) and I was looking forward to him playing with Watt. I thought he'd have created a lot of chances and space for Rhodes.
martonrover Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Think we should be enquiring about Dwight Gayle. Decent at our level and got pace.
JBiz Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Has Glen Murray played much this season? I've not watch MOTD regularly since 2011 for some reason ...
martonrover Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Has Glen Murray played much this season? I've not watch MOTD regularly since 2011 for some reason ... I read a report that Brighton are trying to get him.
Speedie Dived Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 We haven't sold Hanley! Hanley would/will sort Rhodes out 99/100. We are looking ok here. Got 9 million squid peps. Think what we can get now!!!!

I posted that remark because several people ridiculed that point. With no basis at all for their argument. Anyway, let's see who we buy!! We are in a good position now. Lambert never fancied Rhodes and has maximised his his value. He has managed to do what Appleton and Bowyer tried to do. We need to back the manager from this point forward.
Iceman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Get in BradshawAre we signing Bradshaw, or should you have said Get Bradshaw in?
neophox Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Who will Lambert replace Rhodes with. Remember we havent replace Gestede yet? And Rhodes yet. So two tip strikers needed. Watt has replaced Koita. I don't subscribe to doom and gloom. Rovers will survive without Rhodes. I posted that remark because several people ridiculed that point. With no basis at all for their argument. Anyway, let's see who we buy!! Never thought they would sell this window. Could be fatal IF Paul Lambert dont have a replacement lined up. Cant have faith in Brown, Delfo and Jackson. Need a proven striker this window. Cash is there so no time waiting until summer. Wells?
AJW Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Wouldn't go for wells personally , I think Huddersfield will have us over a barrel , we already owe them a slice of the Rhodes money as it is , we go in for Wells they will want an even bigger slice , we could do worse that take one of Todays opponents Kemar Roofe , I wouldn't expect him to score at the same rate at Rhodes just yet , but I would have confidence that those 4 or 5 , Roofe Graham Watt Jacskson and either Lawrence/a.n.other "no.10" would comfortably score the goals to keep us safe and moving up the league .
