I still don't see currently where goals are going to come from. Even if you're in the selling Rhodes was a good thing camp, it must concern you that none of those currently playing up top for us are goalscorers. Even if Rhodes wasn't scoring, you knew he could. Looking at what we have now, I don't see that they can. Now if midfield were improved and goals started appearing from there things might look different but it's getting late to get someone in who will make a difference there. I'm very pessimistic about this season now (and I was bad enough before). I just can't see how what we have is in any way, shape or form progress. Dress it up how you like but without goals you can't win.

Which unfortunately we haven't been doing Gumboots for the last 5 or 6 games and that's with Rhodes in the team.

If, and admittedly it's a big if, Lambert ultimately gets the chance to create the team/style of play he's after and it brings us success then Rhodes will be forgotten about and Lambert's managerial nous lauded. If he doesn't succeed then he'll get the boot.

So Jordan is gone. Best of luck to him.

He was a great finisher but the team was unbalanced. For the reason the new forwards may actually improve the team.

They might not score the number of goals but the team structure should improve.

We need someone in the middle of the park to direct this team forward. For me Adams is the man for that job.

Not bothered about mcgeady, he shows bursts of magic but far too rarely.

The key is to somehow stay in this decision until the summer and then give PL money to rebuild.

This will probably take a couple of Windows to sort but hopefully things will start to improve.

No panic buys is a must. Just get in what we need and start the process in the summer when prices are fair and more players are available. In PL we trust!

Actually they don't. We've been extremely fortunate that despite the fact we've been absolutely abysmal on the pitch since Venky's took over the Club we've had 2 excellent goalscorers in Yakubu and Rhodes.

If you extrapolate further over your football watching career you usually spend your time bemoaning the fact that you're not playing badly but if only you had someone who could stick the thing in the back of the bloody net. Unfortunately however such prolific players are usually way out of your price range. This was the case as recently as when big Sam was in charge.

In my lifetime Garner, Speedie, Newell, Shearer, Sutton, Gallacher, Jansen, Cole, Cruz, McCarthy, Bellamy, Yak, Rudy and Rhodes.

Probably missed some out on there. Also the worst two footballers are at the end of the list.

Perhaps my problem is I'd like to but am not sure I do trust Lambert. And I know we haven't scored or won with Rhodes but I don't see the improvement that others seem determined to see. I'd love to be proved wrong and I'm not in total panic till the window slams shut but then......

I can't believe what I'm reading at times on here. We've posters saying that Rhodes record is poor because he's had a bad run of form and we've other posters saying that we should have faith in Graham because he scores 1 in 3 two years ago! Crimes.

Anyway... just for interest...

With Rhodes (3) leaving our squad in Summer 2016 looks like this:

Numbers in brackets are years left on contracts by the end of this season. Unless the Rhodes money stretches a long long way, we are in big trouble next season.

Steele 26 (2)

Raya 20 (2)

Hanley 24 (2)

Duffy 24 (1)

Ward 31 (2)

Henley 22 (1)

Lowe 24 (1)

Guthrie 29 (1)

Evans 26 (3)

Akpan 25 (1)

Marshall 25 (1)

Bennett 27 (2)

Out of Contract:

Eastwood

Kilgallon

Spurr

Lenihan

Petshi

Williamson

Taylor

Conway

Watt

Graham

Delfouneso

Jackson

Brown

Forrester

12 players on our books for 2016/17 and none of them are strikers.

It will require significant investment to make up for Rhodes's loss and you're daft if you think otherwise. There's a reason Boro are willing to pay £11mill for him, and if it was that easy to find better they'd have just assembled a strike force like ours - one worth the square route of eff all - and saved some money. Tbf, I am being harsh there... Tony Watt is worth about £1mill... It's the rest of them that are worth naff all.

I think Graham will turn out to be a better footballer than Rhodes, he will improve the team.

McGeady not coming. This gets better. Let's hope PL has some rabbits to pull out of the hat by the end of the window or we could be goosed.

As I've said before, the squad as it stands is relegation material. We have a defence prone to at least one costly error a game, a midfield with hardly any technical ability, no leaders in the team and strikers who don't have any recent history of finding the net on a regular basis.

People can talk about overreaction and whatever else, but without the goals Rhodes' guaranteed we either need a boost in creativity or another striker who can replace at least half of those missing goals. If we get neither by the end of the window the likes of Charlton will think they have every chance of catching us up.

I don't think Watt is out of contract in the summer and Conway signed an extension a month or two back. If Graham is good, there'll be something in place. The rest, well, not much quality there so it's great that they are out of contract isn't it?
