Err come on Stuart! Let's leave that in the past along with the opinion on whether or not his hands where tied because I, and others see it differently.

It's impossible to ignore that shelf and GB did try to sell JR but the owners blocked it. In any book, even with different characters - that's not how you run a football club.

The pertinent part is PL is payed and plied with pluck to pounce on promotion...

Who would you want to spend the Rhodes money? Bowyer and Shelfy, or Lambert?

The owners probably saw it the same way as "I and others" do.

I doubt it - you and others knew we could be relegated in from the prem...

I also have more faith in a proven manager - it's hard not to have- let's hope he finds the next "benteke"

Or as I suspect... Balaji is now bored and is not interested what happens with Rhodes when previously he has vetoed the move.

But with the first proper manager in five years I'd argue that the owners are more interested than they've ever been - aside from their first year as wannabe royalty.

Almost makes the conspiracy theories that they weren't the owners for the first few years seem possible.

I believe that when negotiating and discussing the job here Lambert sought a guarantee from the powers at the club that he would have the final say on signings and departures and that they would have to do things his way. He probably had some idea what had happened in the past with Rhodes being kept due to the owners blocking it and Cairney being sold against the manager and players wishes. They got away with it with Bowyer, but Lambert wouldn't and won't put up with it.

I think that the 'adviser' responsible for lining Lambert up will have delivered these terms to the owners before he was appointed and Venkys have agreed to go along with the manager's requests.

I also believe that Bowyer would have been sacked last summer, and was very close to being, but with us remaining under an embargo and having to sell some players to bring money in they decided it would be easier to keep Bowyer in situ for a while until they knew for sure the embargo was being lifted and it would therefore be significantly easier to attract a bigger name manager. Their refusal to meet with Bowyer last summer and his rumoured application for the Sheffield United job suggests his time was up, he knew it and they knew it, yet for some reason they left him in place until the club was out of the embargo.

I suspect the grown up owners are possibly showing an interest.......but Balaji has struck me as the little brat who soon gets bored, but not so small. Wasn't it said that it was his own money used to buy Rhodes?

Your description of Balaji is about how I'd describe him.

I just hope all of the Circus Ewood days are firmly behind us.

JH, if you are correct with your assumptions and I have no reason to think you are wrong then this bodes very well for the future because at last the owners are managing effectively and a long term strategy has been put in place. Long may it continue.

Can't say I'm bothered about Tom Lawrence not extending his stay here. He had a decent amount of chances to show what he can do but had little composure in front of goal Glimpses of good play and energy, but very inconsistent. Not an out and out striker, nor that good in the "number 10" position, so it's no loss to us.

The one month loan extension probably said everything and, in hindsight, was obviously a stop-gap measure by Lambert until he got his own players in (Graham and Watt in particular). Forest and Leeds are apparently after his services.

Haha yeah highly unlikely after the things that Bent said about Lambert while at Villa

Good point! If Lambert doesn't fancy him in his style of play, then it's a no-go.

Bent is one of those players who always seems to score against us. If he goes to another Championship club and gets first team football there, then that's not good!

Maybe Fox had been training with Rovers and they had opted not to take up the option on him? The fella in that photo certainly looked like him.

Some folks were saying it was actually the team coach driver.
