all the best sides have one loony in them, the game needs more characters(or loonies as you call them) or team could definetly do with a player with some actual personality.

There's being a 'character' like Savage, and there's being a lazy, arrogant turd who'd rather sulk and showboat than realise their potential.

What even is it?

Lewis, it was a magical time of staying up late so you could hear gossip and rumour from one of Fleet Streets vaguest. Alan Nixon. He would wait until the papers went to print and then give us the low down on where we were going to spend our £50m war chest. More often than not the names mentioned didn't come to fruition. But it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Originally it was something of a sideshow, then it turned into 'Alan Nixon & friends' and all the visitors after transfer tittle-tattle broke the server on numerous occasions.

An audience with.

But it was enjoyable. I have to admit it. It was my equivalent of pop idol.

Rovers set to sign chamakh....source roversfan4ever on Twitter

Would be quite a coup if we managed that? Weird as he only recently signed for Palace..?

Edit - memory playing tricks on me. 2 and a half years at palace now, very few goals, now 31. However always praised for his workrate and ability in the air. While hardly a mega signing but much better than Brown as an option.

Nope...don't be fooled by Lamberts cautious exterior. It's all for show! He's got money to spend. £3 - £5m is absolutely no problems...wait and see!

Do you mean he has £3-5m in this window? According to todays LET it will be loans only this month.

Yes, only my opinion based on how eager Venkys have always been to spend money. Plus, I'm not sure Lambert would have agreed to come in on that basis.

My feeling is that the vast majority will be loans with a view to permenant (which I'm completely happy with). But if the right player comes up and PL wants a cheque signing, they'll sign it...I'm sure of it!!

I suppose it boils down to who is available and on what terms.

Come on Chaddy, pump Nicko for some names!! Sadly he blocked me sometime ago..long story!!

When you actually listen to Lambert's press interview he suggests that we will be concentrating on loans, but doesn't say that will be the complete limit of it. The Lancashire Telegraph were quick to print it as though he had ruled out any cash signings, which doesn't surprise me as they are quick to print anything that can put a dampener on Rovers' positive news.

I think it is a deliberate attempt by Lambert to taper aspirations and expectations. If he went shouting from the rooftops that we were going to be spending money in January the job would be immediately more difficult from a bargaining position.

He'd be a very brave man to take on this job, with this squad, with an aim of promotion, if he was limited only to loan signings. The loan market is very risky, as we might find out with Tom Lawrence. Players on loan are of no financial worth to the club. Their success benefits their parent club who can take the player back at short notice. A couple of loans are fine, but we can't build a promotion competing side around it. Nobody has. Even Watford, with their group of sister clubs ended up with most of their team on permanent deals. I'd wager there is money there to be used if necessary, but I'd prefer it if that was saved up until the summer when better deals can be found.

The priority area for January is rebuilding our attack, with a couple of strikers and the Tom Lawrence situation to be resolved. I'd like 3-4 new faces for attack/midfield with maybe a couple of long term cash buys and a couple of good loans for the remainder of the season.

What have happened to Tom Lawrence?
Is he still with us?

I think tomorrow is his last game, so would expect an announcement this weekend over whether he is staying or not.

Nicko has said that the names will be in the Sun on Sunday.

No point pushing him.

we don't know even know if he is target yet.

so just calm down and enjoy the night.

Nicko's story will be out on Sunday and we go for there.

I can see Chamakh being a target if Palace sign a quality striker this transfer window. good at hold the ball up and this is what we need

Strange. It's you that brought chamakh up on here and now you're telling him to calm down.

So it's just a guess then. Fair enough, but you give the impression you have insider knowledge so i thought it might be based on something you knew.

Perhaps you're right on Lambert, but perhaps also there wasn't anybody else offering him a job. He's been out of the game for 9 months. He may have come on the basis that we have fantastic facilities and not because he has a large-ish transfer kitty at his disposal.

As for Venky's, they've incurred a huge amount of losses but have never paid big money for anyone except Rhodes. Their huge outlay (or rather losses incurred) are because of their ignorance not because they have spent big and put a great team on the pitch. You seem to be confusing the two things.

Which gets us on to FFP. We can incur losses of £13m over each of the next few seasons. However £8m of that has to come from owner investment as far as i'm aware. They've just put £3m in to get us out of this embargo, do you think they'll put an additional £8m in over each of the next three seasons so they can go on a spending spree on players? Without selling Rhodes this seems unlikely considering we're still losing money.

Lambert may well have sold himself to Venky's on achieving promotion on a tight budget. Maybe something to ponder ;)

I will always posted any transfers links to do with Rovers.

How true these links are varied but it gives us something to discuss

I will post Nicko's names that appear in the paper on Sunday.

If ppl dont like me doing this then simply ignore me

That's my point there has been no link with chamakh apart from some tweet earlier linking us but then I see on your Twitter you telling a palace fan that you see us signing him.I thought you had a source or had heard something because I don't understand how you can see us signing him just because of a tweet linking us with him
