[Archived] Transfer Window - January 2016

Lambert can't afford to fail at Rovers. He's taken the job because he was comfortable with the offer and believed he could deliver promotion.

Not even the most optimistic individual would say that this squad is promotion material. We are 4-5 quality players short of competing for the top six, never mind top two.

Lambert knew the squad he was getting included dross like Brown, Williamson and Delfouneso. Yet still put his neck on the line and took the job and accepted promotion as his remit.

He'd be incredibly brave or stupid to agree to that if all he had to work with was the loan market.

I will always posted any transfers links to do with Rovers.

How true these links are varied but it gives us something to discuss

I will post Nicko's names that appear in the paper on Sunday.

If ppl dont like me doing this then simply ignore me

Keep up the good work Chaddy. I appreciate it and am certain others do too.

I do think that some fans have lost sight of how good the facilities are at Rovers and what a decent prospect we are to out of work managers. The club has a history and oozes potential. Bowyer helped to get us on the straight and narrow but long-term, we were devoid of the correct management and coaching people to run it and the owners have finally, yet suddenly invested massively on a proper management and coaching set up. It is obviously time to kick on, so we aren't going to be pratting around signing players who simply won't bring something to the squad and I'd imagine that those who come in, will be starters.

Perhaps he's taken the job because he was an out of work manager who is now being paid to work. That's hardly putting his neck on the line. He'll get paid his contract whether he succeeds or fails. Unless you know him you couldn't possibly know his motivation for accepting the job.

He could have gone back on the treadmill much sooner after Villa but chose to take a period of unpaid 'training' around the best Managers/Coaches that Europe has to offer. He then chose to offer those hopefully enhanced services to Rovers. In return he gets to work at a Club with real history and some of it quite recent and great facilties and hopefully some money to spend in the transfer window. Personally I think that we will have a stronger squad after just the first window for Lambert. Nothing is certain in football but imo we are now in much more professional team managment hands than for quite some time so for me the Rovers future is looking brighter.

I also hope he's being paid a s-hit load of salary plus a massive promotion bonus to achieve that within the term of his current contract.

We haven't even effin played this year!

I doubt even SAF, Bill Shankley or SIr Alf Ramsey could do much about that!

(I seriously hope your post was tongue in cheek Adam, & you're like me, in getting a bit peed off with everyone expecting PL to work miracles in 6 weeks!)

It just doesn't add up. Why would he come here and work with loans?

Hope he is playing cards close to chest.

. Unless he/they think promotion is still achievable .... If you were building for a promotion charge NEXT season you surely wouldn't bring players in on loan only for a few months - personally I think the 2 recent defeats have been very damaging , if we had take 4 points from those games and remained unbeaten then we would really be in position to challenge top 6 and maybe we would of spent the £3-5m

So it's just a guess then. Fair enough, but you give the impression you have insider knowledge so i thought it might be based on something you knew.

Perhaps you're right on Lambert, but perhaps also there wasn't anybody else offering him a job. He's been out of the game for 9 months. He may have come on the basis that we have fantastic facilities and not because he has a large-ish transfer kitty at his disposal.

As for Venky's, they've incurred a huge amount of losses but have never paid big money for anyone except Rhodes. Their huge outlay (or rather losses incurred) are because of their ignorance not because they have spent big and put a great team on the pitch. You seem to be confusing the two things.

Which gets us on to FFP. We can incur losses of £13m over each of the next few seasons. However £8m of that has to come from owner investment as far as i'm aware. They've just put £3m in to get us out of this embargo, do you think they'll put an additional £8m in over each of the next three seasons so they can go on a spending spree on players? Without selling Rhodes this seems unlikely considering we're still losing money.

Lambert may well have sold himself to Venky's on achieving promotion on a tight budget. Maybe something to ponder ;)

Yes it was an opinion. But it was based on many years of info. I can assure you that I am not confused.

FFP allows £39m of losses over 3yrs starting in the summer. My feeling, based on several convos over the years is that Venkys will not even flinch at stumping up £24m in losses over that period.

Direct quote from previous member of coaching staff. 'Gutted, we could have killed that league on the budget they've given Lambert'

I guess either way, time will tell...

Yes mate but there are loans and there are LOANS....ie the ones where you get very good players with a view to a permanent deal which cost you £1m in loan fees and a hefty wage but immediately improve your team!!

Think Luke Varney vs Jermaine Jones

Very good point. I am still in the mindset of having to shop in the hole in the bargain bucket.

Suppose that won't change until we see an improvement in quality of signing.

Rovers set to sign chamakh....source roversfan4ever on Twitter

Thats my twitter page

My retweet is from TFS Blackburn Rovers twitter page. Their comment is targeting Chamakh

Yeah but then you told some palace fan that you think chamakh will sign for us

The dangers of Twitter "transfer news": speculative tweets given credence by speculative retweets taken as gospel and posted on fan sites.

And there are hundreds of these out there.

No I said I see us getting Chamakh

All this is speculation cos we DONT EVEN know if he is Lambert's target

He's got a point Chaddy. Why do you see us getting Chamakh? What's the reasoning behind it. If you've said you think we'll get him surely you've looked into it more than just one tweet from a random source on Twitter.
