I do think that some fans have lost sight of how good the facilities are at Rovers and what a decent prospect we are to out of work managers. The club has a history and oozes potential. Bowyer helped to get us on the straight and narrow but long-term, we were devoid of the correct management and coaching people to run it and the owners have finally, yet suddenly invested massively on a proper management and coaching set up. It is obviously time to kick on, so we aren't going to be pratting around signing players who simply won't bring something to the squad and I'd imagine that those who come in, will be starters.

Couldn't agree more, we have signed players who haven't improved the team and that will be noticed by Venky's! Now they will want an instant improvement with every purchase or loan.

I am confident of a least a couple of very good players coming in.

Indeed he did, but he didn't say it would happen within the first seven games of being here so to take him to task on that is incredibly harsh and a little bit naughty.

Furthermore the people digging him out for that particular comment were generally the first to complain about people digging GB out for whatever he said in a presser. "It's only important what happens on the pitch" etc.. Now they want it both ways.

The bottom line is, Lambert may or may not work out in the long term, you can't guarantee success with any manager. Make no mistake though GB had to be removed and it was the right decision irrespective of how Lambert does. PL has a relatively good track record, so without the benefit of a crystal ball it was as good an appointment as we could have made in the circumstances. I'm really not sure why certain posters are bitching about it.

Some of the complaints are over the top. I think people are generally disappointed the good early results under Lambert haven't been sustained, plus the particularly poor displays in the past few games. The Bolton match was a shock to everyone. Lambert's still in the honeymoon period but he has to show he can improve the current (admittedly poor) bunch as any decent manager should.

Meanwhile back to the imminent signing of Chamakh.

I think Jim, that what he has to do now is keep us safe, while getting the players behind what he's trying to do. That's the basis he needs before he can go about trying to improve the quality of the squad. He might though, have to compromise on the playing style until he can bring in his own players.

I don't know who we're bringing in, but we sure as hell need to be shipping out a significant portion of them. To anyone who would take them, for free even. I'd rather we try with youth players if necessary rather than continue suffering a lot that gets paid the wages for nothing football.
