Danny Graham scored 2 goals last season. 1 on loan at Wolves and 1 for Sunderland. If he is coming in to replace an outgoing Rhodes then we will be in a relegation battle. If Rhodes goes then I'd expect a proper replacement to come in with some of the money gained from the sale.

Pilkington is a quality Championship player, a step up or 3 from Marshall IMO.

We could also do a lot worse than going for his team mate atm Kenwyne Jones. Guessing he is currently injured.

Jones is off to some club in Dubai as Cardiff want to shift his £35k wages. Pie in the sky talk for us.

As for Graham, while he isn't all about goals, he hasn't done the business for 2+ years now which is surely a concern. I've got no issue with him coming in as a foil to Rhodes but to replace like for like would be sheer lunacy.

Why would Cardiff sell/loan Pilkington? He's in their first team.

They would probably be reluctant too. But then it boils down to the lad himself and how much he wants to play for 'his' club? He is a rovers fan, he was a season ticket holder throughout his childhood and all his family support Rovers.

If he told Cardiff he wanted to go and there was a sentimental aspect to that, they would be hard pressed to refuse.

Equally being a Rovers fan he will be fully aware of the basket case we have been for the last 5 years. He may see it as a step back and decline.

Holt would be a big no from me, he is past it. Hopefully that's just someone putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

Got a feeling we will be linked with a lot of names over the next few weeks.

I'd say PL can sell the dream to him.

Especially if it is PL wanting to build the team around him.

Holt , Pilkington and Graham ... Decent enough at this level and a massive improvement on the likes of Brown Delfounso and Taylor .... Not much pace though is there? (Which is what we desperately need)

From what I read, Lambert said on the Telegraph that Rhodes is a major part of his plans going forward, he needs to help Jordan by taking some of the workload from him and supply him with more chances.

That tells me he's going nowhere.

As for Grant Holt, even on one leg he'd be better than Koita and Brown, so lets keep a bit of perspective on that deal.

You been round long enough Gav to know that he wouldn't say he wants to sell him, would slash his value over night.

He might well want to keep him but he wouldn't say any different if he didn't.

He's turning 35 soon Gav and has barely played for yonks. No he wouldn't be. Anyway, hopefully just Nicko getting it wrong.

I think he may come in as backup, thats all I'm saying pal, and if he replaces Brown that wouldn't be to bad would it?

Lambert knows him well, knows what he can do even at 35.

Just thinking out loud really.

Of course you're right, but I firmly believe he'll keep Rhodes at all costs as you can't buy the goals that Rhodes scores with our budget, so we'll see what transpires SD.

Why oh why would boro want our hated dustbin ?

12 million would suggest Rhodes haters know nowt really .

I have not read one thing on here about anyone hating him. Read grown up debate about his pros and cons.

And, as we know, paying big bucks for a player doesn't prove anything.

Hypothetically would you take 10 million with it all reinvested in the first 11?

You have selective reading skills for example I think Rhodes must have it away with Dens mrs

There's a debate to be had about Rhodes and the rest of the strikers, but you're not up to it Abbey. You've added nothing but insults really.
