As sad as male pattern baldness is, there's nothing worse than being in denial.

If it ever happens to me, I'll shave it all off too.

My Dad had lost a lot way before I was born in his early 20's but I lasted until I was early 40's, then one day I was in a lift with a ceiling mirror and thought 'who the feck is that'. That same day I was off to the Barber and have never regretted it! in fact actually forget I've got none. Otherwise I'd have been a poor man's Bobby Charlton......but better looking ^_^

really annoys me how journalists like Nixon get paid for making up rumours, if you had a success rate of around 2% in any other job you would get the sack

How do you know he makes them up?

Don't know the bloke but know a fellow journo who I asked about Rovers and he said 'Nixon is your best source on Rovers info, he is as close as you can get to the Lambert camp'

GB never spent any cash on strikers bar Rudy - I think it's a fair thing to say 5/6m invested across the squad may improve us in the long run, even if that means selling Rhodes.

It's also a fair assumption to say we will sell him and not spend the cash wisely enough to get the best available - I'm sure we all agree that the best thing is to invest around and with him.

Spot on. Of course there is a possibility that if Rhodes were to be sold and the proceeds reinvested it might improve the team as a whole but equally there is a possibility that the players brought in might not come off and it could all go horribly wrong.

I think you can say with certainty that if Rhodes were to be sold and any replacements did not hit the ground running immediately in terms of goalscoring we'd be in very serious trouble. Hopefully Lambert is too canny to take that risk. Over the course of a full season you've more time to readjust if things don't work initially.

If your dad's a baldie, then the outlook isn't good, although I've heard baldness primarily comes from your mother's side of the family.

Hang on Rev, when did Rhodes last score ?

With regards to Nolan, I've always liked him, a proper Sam Allardyce player who would give up some much needed leadership.

But he must be mid 30s by now, and will make a slow team even slower.

The fact that Nolan has been without a club since last summer tells me one of three things:

1) He's no longer up to the required standard/fitness to play regularly at this level or above.

2) He's not bothered personally about playing any more.

3) Whatever salary or financial package he wants to play is too much for a club to take a gamble on.

If he was good enough, fit enough and motivated enough then someone in this league or the Premier League would have gone in for him by now. The fact he hasn't played a competitve game for 8 months suggests even if he is still good enough it would take some time to get him back up to speed to be able to play twice or three times a week in the Championship.

c'mon den you're better than that. I might expect a post like that from an 8 year old.

How else could anyone respond when you say he's a very good footballer because if you play a ball to his feet, he'll lay it off?

Shefi Kuqi used to lay the ball off ...... usually to an opponent 10 feet away. He had concrete instead of feet in his boots.

Well if you're actually being serious as opposed to making a silly "I don't like him because he runs like a girl" type response I don't understand your point. Laying the ball off accurately is more than some players can manage, laying the ball off adequately and contributing 20 goals a season makes you a very handy player indeed Imo.

Echo all of the above. He may have been a very useful player a long time ago but these days he would make Danny Murphy look like Patrick Vieira in comparison imo.

The problem is Rhodes doesn't have the physical presence to shield the ball from a defender and usually ends up getting robbed. But his deficiencies have been discussed enough.

Meanwhile, back to the race to sign Danny Graham and Kevin Nolan.

Aleix García on-loan from Man. City. Watched him come through Villarreal's youth side, very talented player. Only 18 years old but light years ahead of anything we've got.

I've obviously not seen this lad so don't know how good he is but I like the way you're thinking I'd rather see us think a bit left field and take a punt on one or two hungry up and coming youngsters from Premiership teams eager to impress their parent clubs than washed up old has beens.

We do badly need a couple of leaders or characters in the side as well but they still need to be able to play.

Just spitting out an idea, but could we offer someone like Arteta a final swansong, a la Tugay?

Great shout. Could never see it happening but just the sort of player we need if he was anywhere near his best form.

All that said I don't really know how good or motivated he is these days so again I suppose there is a slight danger he'd be edging towards the expensive has been looking for a last pay day category.

Surely arteta is absolute pie in the sky? Can think of a few premier league and la liga teams that would be willing to offer him a contract and the wages he would be after ahead of ourselves?

I do however like the sound of having a playmaker style player like him in the middle with Akpan ala Tugay and Savage...or Tugay and Mokoena. A central midfield such as that with Conway on the right and a pacey left winger would look good imo.

We need 4 players

A winger with pace

A midfielder who can create

A midfielder who is a nasty ***

Pacey forward.

Then play on the deck!

Bit worrying that a CM doesn't seem to be on our radar. By far our weakest area.

Agree entirely with that. Don't know what the money situation is like but in an ideal world I'd ship a few out to send a message that underperformance won't be tolerated as well. In all my time of watching us I can't recall any striker being at the Club as long as Brown without scoring a goal. I'd ship him out then get what I could for Marshall who hasn't performed for over 12 months either sending a clear message to the rest of them that they'll be on their way in summer if they don't buck up.

Arteta is doing his coaching badges with Arsenal - apparently, an avid student of the game with big plans and ambitions.
