I think I can chip in regarding Peterson, lad has a knack of being in the right place at the right time but relies on service. Bit of a gangly lad but has decent technique and quality on the ball but not quick. Despite his goal scoring record in Germany, he would be a gamble and could easily end up another Van Wolfswinkle.

You lost me at "relies on service".

here is a youtube video of some of Petersen goals for his current club

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOTYU3DIdlw

for Cardiff it was 7 goals in 35 games. which is 1 in every 5 games average

And the other 22 games he played for Cardiff? Not saying I wouldn't be happy with him signing, even though we haven't been linked with him by anyone but you a bit like Chamakh, but he isn't a goalscoring midfielder imo

The lad from Freiburg looks decent from that YouTube video, bit of urgency in the box with the goals in that vid.

Would be an interesting one, this is the type of thing Rovers should be looking at. Loan with a view to make perm in the summer when hopefully there is some money to spend. time to start bringing in the impact players as opposed to the short term players that buy into the managers philosophy. Not saying that isn't a good thing but if they aren't good enough then it doesn't matter whether they like the manager or not. Time will tell on Bennett, and Jackson I'm sure is a very short term addition.

It's amazing what bringing in some genuine quality does for the rest of the team. All of a sudden th mentality of the players can change, I doubt that the current group of players have much confidence in each other right now.

Was just about to post him as a credible target. Would be the right type of character to have about the place.

Here's the fantasy loan shopping list for what it's worth

Shay Given to replace the hapless Steele

Andre Wisdom at RB

Darron Gibson in CM

McGeady at LM

Shane Long (I know!!!) at CF

That's okay for starters

Gibson would be like fecking Messi in comparison to Evans, Williamson, Guthrie, Akpan, Lowe, Taylor and the rest of the dungheap that makes up our central midfield these days.

If Guthrie could stay fit I think he could offer something. Good range of passing and keeps the ball OK for this level. But it's one step forward two steps back all the time with him. There's a player in there but he never gets the run to get up to speed.

That's why I can't see it happening. Links to McGeady and Gibson seem pie in the sky when you consider our recruitment thus far this window.

I'm not convinced to be honest chief. No goals and no assists in 16 appearances doesn't make for good reading. Whenever I've seen him play the game seems to pass him by. According to whoscored.com (no idea how reliable this site is) he only had 4 assists and 5 goals in over 50 appearances at Reading. He seems like another who just isn't good enough and taking a first team place that could be filled just as well by a youth/reserve team player.

Maybe our cheaper recruits so far are as a result of Lambert trying to keep the wagebill down due to FFP?

When the summer comes quite a few players are out of contract and a couple more will be able to depart.

Once this happens the 5 months of wages will have been played to those running out of contract, and it will be easier to move on those still in contract.

When Lambert says he plans to do most business in the Summer, I really think he means business.

If he doesn't make major changes in the summer then I don't see why he joined the club.

He must have been made promises about budgeting and his ability to set up a team capable of challenging for promotion.

He did have other options after all.

You could be right DE. But I'm pretty sure he was always bloody injured at reading too. Maybe I'm being nostalgic, but he was a good player and I don't think you lose that. Just seems to be a constant crock. It's kind of indicative of the type of player we could attract last summer. If we could find a way to keep him fit he might have done a job. But it looks increasingly like his body isn't up to it.

Darren Gibson has ability and is exactly the type of player we desperate need in the centre of the park, serious injury problems and some major off field idiotics recently(I'm sure Abbey would love to give the man a medal for wiping out those cyclists ha) but if we can get him on loan its still a no brainier, he cant be any worst than our current creatively deficient midfielders.

we just need to stay up this year then hopefully the fun can really begin in the summer, but if we go down i think that will be it from us as a club for the foreseeable future.

After all the criticism Kean got from Rovers fans for drink driving hopefully there wouldn't be double standards for Gibson.

Actually we criticised him for lying about it in court, rather than the act itself. Although drink drivers are indeed scumbags.
