:xmas: Yes, we were pretty dull at times under Bowyer, but we also had spells of banging in a few.

Anyway, this is the bloke we've replaced him with, It was posted on 2/12/14 on a Villa forum:-

No 2nd half goal scored since first game of the season

2. No goal at The Holte End for Villa since April 5th

3. 7 goals scored in 13 games, with only 3 goalscorers.

Worst stats in Premier League for shots on target, goals scored, amount of shots, shot conversion rate, chances created and shooting accuracy!

3 points from last 9 games..

over 100 games with a win % of less than 30 and has lost 48 of those games.

Lowest home crowd since Dec 1999

12 players on loan, of which Lambert signed 6!

most goals let in over a season in premiership era= LAST SEASON

Biggest defeat in our history= 8-0 vs Chelsea

first top flight team to be beaten by bottom tier side over two legs in a cup semi-final= LAST SEASON

Most home losses in a single season EVER= this season

5 games 5 defeats 0 goals For those that don't know, this is the worst run in our league history!!

87 games, 90 points, 43 defeats, -54 GD.. Of most concern is that the equation is getting worse as in last 35 games only 30 points have been won.

All that was in the premiership, I would take that over stagnating in the championship under bowyer anyday

You've fallen into the trap of making it personal. I'm not on a crusade, i'm merely stating my opinion, which you acknowledge and then go on to ignore straight away after your first sentence. I've clearly stated the reasons why I hold that opinion. The Bolton game has sincerely @#/? me off. I don't like the cut of his jib and i don't like the football he plays. Basing my current opinion on him on who he might bring in in the future would be very difficult. I'll let you know then. But at the moment he is getting very little out of the players he's got which is what every manager worth his salt is based on. Do you really think his 'style of play' is going to change that much given the limited resources the club has? Will it suddenly turn him into a manager with a tactical plan, a manager who has any idea how to be a potent attacking force? A manager who can get his team to string a few passes together and create chances? My opinion is based on what i've seen, nothing more, not what he may do with a couple of new players in January.

Venomous? Insane? Don't be a drama queen. I only posted on this thread cos Blooboy got a bit cocky, and i did it in a light-hearted way, hence the smiley. Since then i've just responded to the usual personal nonsense that you've just continued.

Is your opinion not personal then ?

Is someone pulling your strings ?

Blueboy seems to be either just going against the common opinion just for the debating, wether he means it or not. OR, getting in a Gordonesque critique now, so that he can get in his "I told you so's" if it goes wrong. But with enough "I hope he does wells" that if it doesn't, no one can pull him up and say I told you so back. Either way, it has been quite entertaining and has been fun to point out the facts that show he's talking nonsense (which, when confronted with such a post he always, without fail, conveniently ignores and doesn't reply to).

You can give it a rest now, until the next PL loss, and celebrate the New Year with our club going into a new and potentially exciting period with renewed optimism and maybe actually being involved on deadline day! :D

Not from you it hasn't. Plenty there to go on so crack on, I'll respond to your specific points but i doubt you've got any...just a lot of Lambert-esque hot air ;)

Yes, a poor choice of words generally and i apologise. The reasons for them still stand though. Lamberts comments, althought defended on here, were unprofessional and cowardly. He knew exactly what he was saying. He used the same MO at Villa. Very odd and irrational behaviour.

Getting your knickers in a twist because Lambert dared criticise 'Gaz' is a bit silly. You blindly followed Bowyer for donkeys with ever poorer results, but strangely turn on this guy a few games in. The players you are watching were brought to the club by, yup,you guessed, good old Bowyer yet you believe a miraculous turn-around is now achievable within weeks, without signing anyone. The cultural change required to sort out Bowyers mess cannot happen overnight. Neither can the squad deficiencies created by irrational and often very poor recruitment. Pleasingly I know a decent fan like you, hugely objective when it comes to the problems faced by club managers will both look forward to and really enjoy the next three years, or five transfer windows, that a proven manager like Lambert deserves. Happy New Year to you and Paul Lambert.

We haven't consistently played good football since the mid 00s, i think the quality of our football has deteriorated with each passing manager since Hughes left, hopefully PL can get a few players in that have ability on the ball and some vision and then maybe we can start an upward curve.

p.s. the time and lengths bluechild333 is going to to knock Lambert is pretty pathetic.

Nope. But maybe a bit of due diligence might have been appropriate when they decided on his replacement. If they made the decision based on what he did at one club a few years ago and ignored his tenure at Villa then they may be in for a shock.

hughes had zero club management record and Souness record in the english game was pretty poor, so by your standards williams should never have hired them.

Pure conjecture. Bowyer won games convincingly against far better opposition than Lambert has played.

He's only played 6 games. Anyone would think GB had us clear at the top of the league the way you eulogise out his time here.

We have gone backwards. GB had two good windows and a few where the likes of Brown and Varney were the only options.

We've stayed on the same course that Bowyer had us on, bar a few good results. Can't expect the mentality of the squad to change in that short time. PL himself said that the club has accepted mediocrity for too long. At least wait until PL has had a chance to change things before sticking the knife in.

I doubt Lambert will get 5 windows if the team continues to play like they did today.

Can't argue with that. We were shocking today.

Fortunately he won't have to work under the restrictions Bowyer did simply because Bowyer bought players that have made the club enough money to get out of the embargo.

He had no restrictions for the first 18 months and still couldn't muster a push for the playoffs. The league positions look ok on paper, but how many points away were we from 6th? How many away from 2nd? He had a complete free reign over tansfers and the Academy and couldn't mould a top 6 team, despite bringing in nearly 40 players.

Lambert has so far given it the big I AM, served up some truly atrocious football and got a few lucky wins.

He's said all the right things, but it will take more than 6 weeks and no transfer windows to put things into place. If the losses are his fault, surely you should give him credit for the wins, however they come.

Bowyer - 3 years - saved the club from League 1, Rebuilt the football club, finished 8th and 9th, QF's of the FA Cup, made the club enough money to exit the embargo caused by Kean/Anderson and re-structured an Academy that is now flourishing.

Lambert - 6 weeks not a single goal from open play.

Can't argue he helped save the club from lg 1. Rhodes has to take a large chunk of credit too for his goals. How has he rebuilt the club? He didn't sell off the higher earners and deadwood, their contracts were cancelled, which cost us the same amount as if they'd stayed. He didn't get us challenging at the top of the league, he didn't do anything spectacular to earn such an accolade. He sold a couple of players for more than he bought them for and we didn't get relegated. Credit where it's due, he was decent for 18 months, but he was far from someone who rebuilt the club and was rightfully sacked after his last 18 months. We exited the embargo because Venkys paid off high earners and converted debt into shares. Yes, the money from Gestede and Cairney helped, but it didn't get us out of the embargo on its own. Again, you give him too much credit. Is the Academy flourishing? How many players have come through in the 3 years GB was in charge? How many players from the youth team got a good run in the 1st team, despite him being an ex youth team manager?

Come back when Lambert has achieved something at Rovers.

What did GB achieve? You don't win trophies for finishing 7th and selling a coulee of players for more than you bought them. PL has been here 6 weeks. What did you expect him to achieve in that time?
You obviously missed this in your hurry to call PL a dick in yet another thread...

in your own words- "Wind your neck in"

and how exactly is it not relevant? Hughes and Souness where both risky hirings(no more so than the hiring of Lambert) the only difference is that hughes and souness where well known and popular figures in the game (id even say iconic) so they got more leeway with the fans as a whole.

Who would you have Hired instead of Paul Lambert?

I'd already made my points, you didn't really refute any you just gave a bit of grudging respect to Bowyer. There was nothing more i could say so i was hardly ducking any questions. For example How has he rebuilt the club? I spoken at length about what Bowyer achieved in steadying the ship after the mess he inherited. No point going over it again.

Your problem, like many others on here, is that you don't like someone criticising the manager of BRFC which is really strange considering all the BS that's been written on here over the last two years about the last one, a lot of it invented out of thin air. You think that mean's i'm hedging my bets, but that's a reflection on you and how you approach this MB. I genuinly couldn't give a toss if i'm wrong. I HOPE I AM. Is that clear?

You've misjudged me. I don't fall into traps and I'm not a drama queen, I am very opinionated - as you obviously are...just more reasonable or patient I suppose.

So yes, I certainly think he will restyle everything and he absolutely needs to. We are devoid of winners, experience and creativity - it won't get us far at all. I blatantly think that the wholesale changes will be funded by the sale of Rhodes (which, going off your current stance, wrongly or rightly I reckon you are going to go into character assassination overdrive when that happens ☺). But I think any fan should give a manager the chance to make a team there own, and time to succeed or fail. Seriously, six weeks and no signings surely isn't enough ☺?

You used the term 'suddenly happens' - that's why I think you are absolutely barking over this Lambert stuff. The time frame. I've read a lot of sensible comments from a range of posters (and between us, we all have our moments of madness) who are saying 'next season' but what has amazed me is you haven't even given Lambert until the New Year before spitting it about tactics, performances and especially now that we've finally lost a couple, results. Truthfully, that's why I think you are insane (re this topic) and as a bare minimum, overly expectant and very unreasonable. If you do genuinely believe that opinion to be reasonable, you are going to have to defend yourself and your beliefs because I can't comprehend it and personally find it hard to believe there is a pocket of fans with over 50 years of experience each who think that makes even an ounce of sense.

With the disasterous Venky years fresh in my mind, I appreciate what we've currently got in place and barring a miracle nothing great is going to happen this season. I am patient enough to treat this season like a prolonged pre-season and hit the ground running next. My thoughts are we totally ballsed up sticking with Bowyer longer than we should've done, so we were quickly behind in the league and effectively, without a productive pre season (one in which we very strangely played a different formation to what we went along with in the league!). What we are seeing is the fallout of all of that and the fact we have players who were far too comfortable and now know they have no future here, or either just stuck in a rut or sauntering through games.

Didn't I? You should probably read it again. You could have "responded to my specific points". If you've done that in past posts, care to refresh my memory?

Your problem, like many others on here, is that you don't like someone criticising the manager of BRFC which is really strange considering all the BS that's been written on here over the last two years about the last one, a lot of it invented out of thin air.

I actually don't have a problem on here at all. I don't know anyone personally and to me it's all just letters on a screen. I sincerely doubt you know me either, so please don't presume to tell me what my supposed problem is. I'm just putting my opinion and counter argument across. But, we support BRFC, doesn't seem strange that we would dislike someone critising our manager? Are you not a supporter of BRFC?

Show me an example of criticism of GB that has been invented out of thin air. There's every chance I may agree with you.

When i start inventing things about Lambert you can get upset. Until then you're just dealing with someone who doesn't agree with you. I haven't particularly warmed to Lambert for the reasons i've stated. You have. I rated Bowyer for all his time here, you didn't. That's about it really.

Im not upset. I haven't thrown any personal jibes or insults, just my opinion. I haven't taken or not taken to him yet. He's only been here 6 weeks. I don't think that's enough time to make any sort of judgement. Which is entirely my point.

But let's not try to say i'm ignoring questions put my way. I'm not, it's just that it's already been said. If Lambert improves i'll change my opinion on him. At the moment i don't rate him. You think that mean's i'm hedging my bets, but that's a reflection on you and how you approach this MB. I genuinly couldn't give a toss if i'm wrong. I HOPE I AM. Is that clear?

You're still ignoring the questions now. If you feel you've already answered them, please indulge me and answer them again. I don't approach this MB in any way, in fact, more often than not I just read it and not get involved. So I don't see how you can say how it is a reflection on me at all. You have no idea about me or how I approach anything.

You say you don't give a toss, but you've been all over the forum following a couple of losses giving Lambert a right kicking, so you can see how it comes across that you actually give quite a lot of a toss whether you are right or wrong about both GB and PL.

Thats an interesting analogy EIT, because while I recall KMD praised Don Mackay, he also made some other comments about the club and the players having to step up to the plate and match Uncle Jack's (and his own) ambitions, which weren't to be lower end of the second division. Those remarks weren't that far removed from Paul Lambert's refusal to accept mediocrity, and in the context of blueboy3333's constant, and baffling, attacks on Lambert, quite a useful touchstone as to what new managers tend to say when they come into clubs. They have to try and motivate an immediate improvement somehow. (I did try to find the actual quote/interview but failed)

In any case the team Dalglish inherited was way better than this one.
