Remember it being in the paper about Mackay once making them run up Bolton rd then up Sunnyhurst to Darwen tower in order to show the fans they were taking things seriously. Imagine that now

Let's just see what response we get from our slackers against League two opposition.

I'm starting to fear these cretins don't want to play for Lambert...a very dangerous situation when you look at the league table never mind the cup!

This has become a massive and pressured game now.

Going out of the league cup to lower opposition at home was shocking but this would feel ten times worse with the current run.

Any sort of win would be a big lift but a loss would be a huge blow.

I hope Rhodes starts he needs a goal however it may come. Stick with a similar team but Raya for Steele and Olsson for Spurr and maybe drop Conway for Taylor if he's fit.

Looks like Newport are actually making some effort to get this game on. According to their twitter account today they have hired and installed protective rain covers over the entirety of the pitch. Shame they couldn't have done this last weekend when 1050 Rovers fans made a wasted 9 hour round trip! John Sheridan got some stick for saying they could have done more to get the game on; this action would suggest he had a point!

What happens if it gets postponed a second time? Would they be allowed a third chance to get the game on or would it revert to Ewood? The weather forecast is poor tomorrow. I returned 8 tickets yesterday as none of us want to take the risk of it being postponed again.

Anyone needs a good pub pre match I can recommend Ye Olde Murenger House 52-53 High St, Newport NP20 1GA. Reputedly Newport's oldest pub. Occasioned by the GLC I`m told.

(Cod Welsh rappers, not the old London Council thing)

The only way it will revert to Ewood, is if it ends in a draw. It can be postponed dozens of times, but they will keep on trying, until the pitch is fit. Hopefully that will be tomorrow, but we shall see.

Unless he's struggling with his knock after yesterday, you've got to give Kilgallon more game time so he should start this one.

I think we will start Brown and Jackson up front. Rhodes will be rested when it is in fact a Lambert test to see if we are better without.

I am obviously bored which says a lot about the Liverpool v Utd game so decided to check the official FA Cup rules:

Rule 11 deals with postponed or abandoned games. 11( b ) (i) concerns first matches which are postponed / abandoned and says the next game should be played on the home ground.

11( b ) (ii) deals with a second attempt at playing the fixture. It states 'if the match be drawn or again be postponed or abandoned it shall be played as directed by the FA.'

I therefore interpret from the rules that if tomorrow's game was postponed or abandoned, it wouldn't automatically be a third attempt at Rodney Parade and would be at the discretion of the FA where the game was played.

Therefore I don't think you are correct by saying there could be a dozen attempts.

I can never recall that rule being implemented to change a venue but it's interesting that it is now in the rule book.

I'm sure some posters could tell us about the early 60s where 3rd round games took till then end of Feb to be completed due to weather.

The 5th round tie against Man city in 1969 was postponed three or four times I think. By unfortunate coincidence I had four teeth extracted in the morning and then City put four past us that night.

I'd play the under 18s on Monday not because I devalue the cup I happen to think it's very important but the overwhelming majority of the senior players don't seem to give a toss about playing for us fans, the manager, their teammates or even themselves.

So maybe if we played the academy lads at least we will see 11 players in blue and white halves giving 100%. Imagine that. Can't say as I've seen that for a while.

Thanks, I was unaware of that rule and stand to be corrected.

It was a replay and I think it was played on the 5th march 1963 against Middlesbrough

The match tomorrow will go ahead no problem.

Last Saturday was dry until the down pour from lunch time onwards and with the rain falling most of the week before, it was then flooding making the pitch unplayable.

This week has been mainly dry and sunny until tonight in Newport. They're hired rain covers this time to eliminate any problems. The rain is more a light drizzle and is more shower like than consistent rain too. The rain is due to stop early afternoon tomorrow and be fine for the rest of the day and night.

I hope Lambert sorts out this shower of @#/? we've seen the last month and a few goals would be nice. After all the promises, it's now time to deliver.

I'd never let Kilgallon pull on the blue and white halves again after his 'efforts" on Saturday frankly. Get rid this window and get someone younger hungrier and cheaper in.

Rhodes badly needs a couple of goals to restore his confidence imo. Theoretically he wont get a better chance. I'd either continue with him and Brown up front or pair him with Jackson and attempt to play the ball to feet more.

Generally I'd play the very strongest team possible. We need to build a bit of momentum again from somewhere. Conversely if there is a disaster, they should be the ones to take the fall.
