watford-rover Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Wonder what Lawrence's mum thinks of that performance. What a lightweight waste of space he was in that first half, just as for most of his time here. Fully agree there, would be hysterical seeing him trying to do a manual labour job.

gumboots Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Abject. Losing your lump of a centre forward does not mean you have to surrender possession at every opportunity, fail to realise you should pass to players in blue and white shirts, and think you can't run over the halfway line with the ball
perthblue02 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 The ""tackle "" http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/35348614
gumboots Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Doesn't claim to be a centre forward does he?no but he claims to be a professional footballer as do all of our team.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 18, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 18, 2016 Bowyer had to go but this guy seems to be equally clueless. I'm not calling for him to be sacked if you read what I said, just asking why he's given so much slack. Because he's a track record I suspect. I don't doubt that it's been poor and we desperately need to improve.
Hasta Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 'Clearest red card you will ever see'.Looks a bit harsh for me. You kind red card someone for being rubbish, sluggish and clumsy just because he causes accidental damage. It also doesn't help that his shin pad is half way down his leg before the tackle.
Stuart Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Doesn't claim to be a centre forward does he?Rhodes doesn't claim to be a target man but that doesn't stop him getting stick for not being one. I expect a midfielder to do a hell of a lot more closing down that Lawrence is doing.Might be better putting Chris Taylor up front. If we don't start to close down high up the pitch we are going to get overrun here. Looks like Rhodes will be coming on anyway, so moot point now.
1arC Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 'Clearest red card you will ever see'. Some posters think it wasn't a red, but it is a clear a red as I have ever seen too!
mustard Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I don't think it was a red. Lazy and reckless? Yes. Dirty and deliberate? No way. Just my opinion.
jim mk2 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Because he's a track record I suspect. I don't doubt that it's been poor and we desperately need to improve. Track record counts for nothing if you keep losing games - and with abject performances to boot.
Hasta Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Some posters think it wasn't a red, but it is a clear a red as I have ever seen too! "That's astonishing" says the BBC commentator when the red card is produced.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 no but he claims to be a professional footballer as do all of our team. Not defending his performance. Just saying he isn't a centre forward.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 18, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 18, 2016 Some posters think it wasn't a red, but it is a clear a red as I have ever seen too! I really don't think it was. It's clumsy and late, but it isn't nasty, there's no intent.
Speedie Dived Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Some posters think it wasn't a red, but it is a clear a red as I have ever seen too! I messed up quoting. It's clumsy at worst. Anyone, gone now.
grizfoot Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 You have to make some allowance for the fact we have ten men but still taking that into account we've been woeful yet again. How can a team two divisions below us look so much better? It's embarrassing. They are passing it around confidently whereas half our players look scared and panicky when they get the ball. I think we'd take the replay now. But for a soft penatly we'd be well on our way to being out already, if we don't improve in this second half I fully expect Newport to win this.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 18, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 18, 2016 Track record counts for nothing if you keep losing games - and with abject performances to boot. It doesn't, and right now, I'm just hoping it improves rapidly.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I saw Corry Evans give the ball away after 40 minutes, I think thats the only time I've seen him on my tv screen. I think I contributed as much as Evans and Bennett in that first half and I'm sat on my arse at home. At least we've found out who two of our shirkers are - worrying thing is one of them Lambert has brought in!
Speedie Dived Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Some posters think it wasn't a red, but it is a clear a red as I have ever seen too! So it was worse than Keane on Haaland? Come on Jordan lad.
McClarky Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 If we appeal the red they can increase the ban can't they. Let's appeal it, won't win but at least we'll be free from Brooney for another week. What about the pen? Would be well annoyed if it was given against us but I suppose the boy gave him a bit of a push. Went down in instalments though didn't he.
Mercer Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Abject. Need to go 3/4/2 with Rhodes and Conway on - get at them. Would take a draw now but fear we are going out. Lose tonight and you know what happens on Saturday.
perthblue02 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I don't think it was a red. Lazy and reckless? Yes. Dirty and deliberate? No way. Just my opinion. Also very late if you pause it when he actually makes contact , ball well away
Backroom Tom Posted January 18, 2016 Backroom Posted January 18, 2016 I think it's borderline - I also don't think the ref saw it and was going to give anything other than a foul then something changed
G Somerset Rover Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Abject. Need to go 3/4/2 with Rhodes and Conway on - get at them. Would take a draw now but fear we are going out. Lose tonight and you know what happens on Saturday. You'd still predict a 4-1 win for us Mercer .

You expect a midfielder to close down if he is playing as a centre forward but are happy that a centreforward doesn't close down? Let us hope that Rhodes is an improvement.
