Swanson Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I see that young defender Scott Wharton is given squad number 34 ahead of this match. "Scott has already cemented a place in the heart of the Under-21 defence with strong displays earning the young defender a place in the squad for the Emirates FA Cup 3rd round tie with Newport County in January 2016".

Mike Graham Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 No chance Den, not with those mushy peas.. Keep well bud.
Husky Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I take it this isn't going to be shown on any kind of TV channel today as I was wondering if a jaunt down the coast might be on the cards.
Backroom Tom Posted January 9, 2016 Backroom Posted January 9, 2016 Mushy pea pasties? Sounds revolting. Hope you enjoy your day PB better than the pasties. COYB. sounds great love the mushy pea fritters at holly tree chippy
jim mk2 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It was a turn of phrase, dear chap. Presumably it's a long since forgotten metaphor for heads being chopped off during the French Revolution or such like. Pretty sure those at the top of organisations don't end up being decapitated. So if it's the phrase that's baffling you, worry not. It was a very strange phrase to use in terms of football and Rovers in particular because of our present circumstances. Anyhow, here's hoping for a win today and no repeat of Oxford United away in 1964, one of the worst days in the club's history.
Mercer Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Difficult to call Rovers' games recently. I suspect the 'affable' Lambert that the press has seen and reported on over the last couple of weeks has ben far less affable down at Brockhall and I think a couple of riot acts will have been read. I therefore expect Rovers to emerge from this one unbeaten though it might take a replay to see us through.
Backroom Tom Posted January 9, 2016 Backroom Posted January 9, 2016 Rain started and standing water on the pitch https://twitter.com/paulwheelock/status/685812944375001088
Mike Graham Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 The game must be at risk Tom. Sheeting down with rain 😠
Mike Graham Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 The referee presently making a 2nd inspection
Backroom Tom Posted January 9, 2016 Backroom Posted January 9, 2016 The game must be at risk Tom. Sheeting down with rain 😠 I would say it will be off if I had to guess
Mike Graham Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Who do Hereford lay, might stop off instead of Newport. Can't see this being played.
BlueMonday Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Thats rough on those travelling down. Fingers crossed.
Stuart Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I would say it will be off if I had to guess The ground looked very very soft when the forks were going in. Could be serious risk of injuries with this one.
Mike Graham Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Bit like the Yorkshire pudding I just ate..... Very slippery.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 9, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 9, 2016 Bloody hell! It looks the correct decision mind, but it's an absolute nightmare for all those that have travelled nevertheless.
rog of the rovers Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Gutted for those who have made the trip!
neophox Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Feel sorry for all who made the trips. Two games more on schedule ahead. Hope we can get someone more in before tuesday. Now Lambert has more time.
Backroom Tom Posted January 9, 2016 Backroom Posted January 9, 2016 Gutted for the fans but also gutted as I feel today was a good chance to get back to winning ways before a tough game on Tuesday!
Stuart Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Looks like the right decision on the day but it's not great for Rovers in terms of squeezing fixtures in. Seem to remember concerns about this possibility a couple of weeks ago. This bloody rain is a nuisance at the moment. Could Newport have done more? Did they have, or could they have used, covers during the week? Feel so sorry for those fans who have travelled. Hope they can still make something of it before heading back. Wonder if this will be a midweek fixture - making travel very difficult - or if it will take place on the same weekend as the next round of Cup fixtures.
