Husky Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 The ironic noise when Brown came on seemed to lift the place The ref was a joke let Henry and that dork at 33 get away with murder and blatant time wasting He's on his way to becoming as big a Legend as Dabo!

Cherry Blue Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Not many like him but playing Brown was more of a threat than Lawrence. Not saying he should start but a player with weight can provide the right distraction for Rhodes. We played as bad as it gets for 85 minutes but I'll take the point.
Stuart Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Felt a bit sorry for Lambert in the post match RR interview. He seemed to think the crowd cheering when he brought Brown on was genuine and lifted the crowd. I wonder if anyone will have the heart to tell him it was ironic. Worked mind. I can't help but see a mollycoddled bunch of blokes who have been asked to work hard and are struggling to adjust. I don't feel any sympathy for them but it's going to take a little while yet to adjust. We need to hope that we can either pick up some points but we really need some fresh blood who are match fit. Bang in form League One player a la Stead might be in order, loanees aren't going to be match fit.
Mike Graham Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Good point but should have been 3 if not for clown keeping - he nearly gave them another at the end And then tried to blame Spurr for his own mistake.
ABBEY Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Good point but should have been 3 if not for clown keeping - he nearly gave them another at the end Williamson and Brown were much better than what came before them Bennett was decent I thought but Conway poor Service was poor but Rhodes had 4 good chances all on target but saved or blocked but he was offside far too often Expected to lose so happy with a point I have faith in Lambert even blind faith maybe Get frankie fielding back
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2016 Backroom Posted January 12, 2016 People treat Brown as a joke but for me Lamberts big decision for Saturday should be who starts with him up top. We were much more effective with him on and his presence seemed to give Rhodes a visible lift and he looked much for up for it. Lawrence flatters to deceive so for me Rhodes and Brown should be the front two.
tomphil Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I think/hope you're right. Just don't understand why we play it long to Rhodes and Lawrence. Bizarre. Thing is where Rhodes is concerned he isn't the first manager to have them doing that they've all repeatedly tried it. No wonder he looks @#/? of. Maybe when he's up against his lightweight team mates on the training pitch it works or something but yes it's genuinely baffling.
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2016 Backroom Posted January 12, 2016 Get frankie fielding back Cracking heckling to the time waster in the second half if that was you mate
Tardyrover Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Although way off yet, I do think tonight was an improvement, we created more chances tonight than of late.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Good point but should have been 3 if not for clown keeping - he nearly gave them another at the end Williamson and Brown were much better than what came before them Bennett was decent I thought but Conway poor Service was poor but Rhodes had 4 good chances all on target but saved or blocked but he was offside far too often Expected to lose so happy with a point I have faith in Lambert even blind faith maybe At least Williamson looks like he wants to be out there and he wants to win the bloody game. One plus - we came from behind to score and earn a draw in the last ten minutes. Would that have happened 3 months ago ? We've got to stop going behind though, the first goal is usually crucial at this level.

Lawrence flatters to deceive so for me Rhodes and Brown should be the front two. Agreed. Whilst Lawrence is the only guy who can make things happen on the deck he's probably more of an impact player at the min. If we're playing long ball it has to be to a lump up top and despite the stick Brown gets he can give defenders physical probs. Then it's up to JR to put the effort in and play off him.
ABBEY Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Cracking heckling to the time waster in the second half if that was you mateHaha guilty
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I think/hope you're right. Just don't understand why we play it long to Rhodes and Lawrence. Bizarre. Because we lack the ability, craft, desire, skill in midfield to do it any other way.
neophox Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Lambert is a good manager and the squad is poor. Cant use is own tactics yet. Need to secure champ football next season first and then we Will start to see things. No Quick fix. Venkys should had changed manager a year ago... Ive said it before Williamson is he only PRO att the club.
LDRover Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Well that was sh1te wasn't it? Hard to put my finger on exactly what is wrong but I'm still to see a definite style of play that Lambert wants to play - very reminiscent of Appleton. What we desperately need though is a left footed, quick, left midfielder. It's far too easy for the opposition to just push Conway wide and watch him dolly it into the 'keeper's hands.
LewisF Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I bought that Marshall was excellent, and Spurr was decent. Bennett was great 1st 45, but did zilch 2nd half. And truth be told, if Brown hadn't come on we'd have lost. Huge credit to him and his physical presence for getting us a point. I liked the look of Lenihan, would start him on Saturday if Duffy's not right (at CB). Very calm and doesn't panic, unlike Steele, who kicks it straight at their striker last 5 mins after we've equalised! My team for Brighton: (assuming Duffy is fit) Steele Marshall, Duffy, Hanley, Olsson Bennett, Lenihan, Akpan, Conway Rhodes, Brown
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2016 Backroom Posted January 12, 2016 Steele just didn't look at all with it, first 5 minutes ball is put out for an injury, they pass it really slowly back to him and he has his back to it having a drink and nearly had a scary moment.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Just seen the highlights. Bloody hell how poor was Steele? Was tonight's match ball made of Dove? On that showing he needs dropping. Another who keeps his spot through default of having no competition.
ABBEY Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I watched him warm up and he spilled three low shots and did one early on in the game .

Bang in form League One player a la Stead might be in order, loanees aren't going to be match fit. Agree. The players aren't performing at all for Lambert. Either he is a dud or the players are stropping. Think it's the latter. Yes we were as bad under bowyer but it was a different kind of bad. An inept tactically and defensively bad, a carelessness if you like. Now we just look like we don't care. Hate to be an I got it right too often - partly due to the amount that I get wrong too - but have always said Steele isn't good enough. Granted we've bugger problems but if we have any ambition whatsoever we won't achieve it with him in net. A comedy keeper for all the fine saves he sometimes brings out.

A touch harder and on target and I'd have been dry worried. Not sure what he was thinking.

Another who keeps his spot through default of having no competition. Steele was poor but he wasn't on his own. Conway, Akpan, Evans, Lawrence and Rhodes were all poor and you just can't carry that number of players. I really think something is badly broken at Ewood and Lambert has a massive challenge ahead trying to fix it. I would love to see wholesale changes for Saturday but with our threadbare squad I can't see it. I am convinced that without the introduction of the much derided Chris Brown we would have lost that game. And that says more about some of our so called better players than it does about Brown.

Conway is another like Rhodes (and others!) who have just gone completely off the boil since Lambert arrived. Given we'll be lucky to get more than a couple in on loan during Jan (probably max) he needs to somehow get the best out of what we have until the summer.

Another who keeps his spot through default of having no competition. Steele has looked dithery since Lambert and his men came in. It's another example of how comfy they all were under the previous regime i think. Steele was brought in because Keeley the GK coach wanted him, Bowyer said it himself. After watching their warm ups most of the home games 2nd half of last season you could tell they were a close knit bunch and Keeley seemed like a good thorough GK coach. Robbos form took a dip after Keeley came in to replace Mimms. Hopefully it's just a blip and they settle down buut as has been said a lot of them don't look like they've come to terms with being shaken out of their little comfort zones yet and the nice shield Bowyer provided for them. It'll take a good few new faces and probably a full pre season to shape this lot up properly now.
