1arC Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Take a chill pill guys. This season was over after 3 wins out of 17. We're all just going to have to wait it out - watch some other more enjoyable sport, discover other hobbies and interests, hope for a cup run similar to last season. If we go down I'll eat my hat. 3 points against Charlton coming next week as they seem to be even more diabolical than the last time we played them when they were simply diabolical. Meanwhile the cricket is quite good at the moment . Roll on Rovers August 2016!!!! I have some bad news for you, as we don't have a cat in hells chance of winning at Charlton next week. Believe me, this message board will be in meltdown this time next week, as we won't win the Newport game either. Something is very wrong with the club at the minute and there is no sign of it changing.

tomphil Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I have some sympathy for Conway - as I thought Spurr was awful and offers little going forward - which impacts on Conways effectiveness. Composure on the ball is largely pathetic - probably Marshall apart. As some have mentioned - when Brown is MOM it shows how poorly the team are playing - but full credit to him for a wholehearted performance. Can't say we were unlucky to lose - but we aren't getting the rub of the green at the moment. As for Brighton - a very poor team who time wasted from the 2nd minute. Zamora gets away with absolute murder up front - but it is that type of guile that we are probably missing. Wouldn't say Brighton are a poor team with their quick passing they were happy to sit in and counter, I'd say the pitch did us favour today in that respect. Agree on the Conway bit, just how many times did he show for the ball, set off then the pass to him fell short or went out. He was at least showing his frustration to his team mates. Also anyone who still thinks Spurr is better option than Olsson needs to give their heads a shake. He sticks to the task but this season has shown signs it's time for him to find a club in a lower league.
LewisF Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 the performance was bad too though, AllRoverAsia
ABBEY Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 If any players read this board then have a look in the mirror tonight and say did I earn my wage today !! Over paid un-urgent couldn't gave a rats arse bunch of prima donnas ...only brown came off the pitch muddy on a day like today .
Amo Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Clutching at straws but would it be worth giving Willem Tomlinson a run-out? He looked lively in pre-season and we need a spark from somewhere.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 16, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 16, 2016 Spurr was horrendous. If he plays for us again it will be too soon.
AllRoverAsia Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 the performance was bad too though, AllRoverAsia We need results. I thought we would kick on 2 nd half but the opposite happened. We are a very poor squad - and its not Lamberts fault..........yet
Stuart Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I wasn't stirring, just hadn't been on here and was hoping we weren't going into meltdown. That's all.Fair enough fella. You have a bit of an ITK rep so I though your post was a prelude to something. As you were everyone.
rhodie Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 We really do need a complete rebuild, quality of our squad is dire, reminds me of when Kean got us relegated and everyone saying we are too good to go down. The problem is it won`t happen; there is no way that the owners are going to spend 20 + million on players just to get us back to being reasonably competitive and consistent. I truly think we are looking into the abyss and must admit, this rubbish that we have to be patient, wait for July etc is wearing thin. The crux of the matter is our squad was at the minimal standard for the championship at the end of last season when we still had Cairney, Gestede and King, since then we have dropped below that threshold. If the owners were so committed to seeing success they should have put funds in then instead of taking the spine out of the team.
AllRoverAsia Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Fair enough fella. You have a bit of an ITK rep so I though your post was a prelude to something. As you were everyone. Thats a shame..... thought we were in for some excitement... oh well a Rovers fan shoud know better
Darwen Rover 007 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Spurr was horrendous. If he plays for us again it will be too soon. Can't understand why Olson has been dropped especially when he's been one of our better players Unless lambert is relying on set plays only???
Riverside67 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 As bad as anything witnessed since 1967. Shades of the division three fiasco of that time. We are in a relegation scrap now make no mistake. Not a game changer on the pitch. A frightening decline and no sign of us having bottomed out yet, Desperate times to be a Rovers fan. A Manager is judged on his signings. I just pray Lambert can bring in some talent because the current standards are truly awful.
mhead Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 What do the young players have to do to get in this team? I know it could be dangerous...but... And what are Irvine and Kelly doing at the moment -we have 2 Premier coaches!! Will anyone buy Rhodes now -5mn anyone?
Husky Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Absolutely awful. To say that Brown was MOM shows how far we've sunk. Charlton has a 1-0 written all over it, and not in our favour. Spurr is an absolute liability, slows everything down, and where has Conway's from gone? They didn't even look arsed at the end. Absolutely awful. To say that Brown was MOM shows how far we've sunk. I was gonna post something like "I'd expected we'd be in the 3rd division before Williamson and Brown became our best players". Don't fear. We'll score at least 2 against Charlton (probably three) and I expect one of our current best players to finally get on the score sheet.
AllRoverAsia Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Ok after a few more beers........ playing a back 4 of which includes Hanley, Killgallon & Spurr (+ I know Marshall who is actually a footballer) how the hell can we possibily hope to play passing attacking football. It will never happen. The rub is that the previous RB & head turned LB are no better. Throw into the mix a non-existant midfield apart from Akpan who's about 50% accurate with his passing so looks good - I'll stop now.

Difficult for him today though with a load of dross alongside him.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Chris Brown tried hard today and deserved mom. The flip side is that when Brown is getting MOM, the rest of the team must be bloody awful. Lambert needs to deliver a couple of signings (either loan or permanent) that are going to seriously impact the first 11 because the 2 so far aren't. We all know what the problems are. At least he came out and said the fans dont deserve performances like that. I get the feeling he is as frustrated as the fans with this squad of wasters.
chor808 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 That was dire. I know next to nothing about football and predicted a three nil win! I just don't understand why we are so poor. Everyone just seemed so static and nervous. Something is sadly wrong.

LewisF Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Can't understand why Olson has been dropped especially when he's been one of our better players Unless lambert is relying on set plays only??? by some accounts he's been throwing his toys out of the pram.
Mike Graham Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 by some accounts he's been throwing his toys out of the pram. Bust up with PL before the Cardiff away game when Olsson refused to get off the team coach.
LewisF Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Bust up with PL before the Cardiff away game when Olsson refused to get off the team coach.Cant be doing with people like that in our team. Just because he's not on holiday camp under Lambert anymore.
1arC Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Bust up with PL before the Cardiff away game when Olsson refused to get off the team coach. Where did you hear that?
arbitro Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 We can analyse and theorise all we want but the bottom line is that far too many of our squad simply aren't good enough to play Championship football. It really hit home today when on numerous occasions any one of a number of players should have controlled the ball and picked a pass. Instead they headed or kicked the ball to a Brighton player. We were taking far too much time in possession simply because the touches of too many just aren't good enough. The absolute lack of quality is becoming embarrassing right through the team and Lambert has taken on the devils own job trying to get something from them. I saw today for the first time that Lambert is becoming frustrated by them as he was far more demonstrative than he has been. On another thread the question has been asked about who to keep or let go. On the evidence of the last five games I would get rid of them all.
tomphil Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Why would he refuse to get off the coach ? Was he stuck or something.
