Songs from a room was one of the first albums I ever had and used to play it endlessly, I saw him a few times in concert and despite His (undeserved) reputation for being miserable he was anything but live and was always humorous. He wrote a moving letter to Marianne Ihlen about whom he wrote the song So Long Marianne, just before her death in July.
