VinjayV4 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Site has been down for a few hours but most will know Danny Graham joined as expected. Loan until the end of the season seen claims he's on 45k a week. If that is correct maybe it has been subsidised by Sunderland. Also been suggested its 35k with Rovers paying half. Official conformation... http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/danny-graham-new-signing-2911377.aspx Player comments... http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/danny-graham-blackburn-rovers-2912189.aspx

RoverMinion Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I would have thought he has taken a wage cut with the promise of games and a year long contract at the end of the season. Was hesitant about this deal, but have to say, he has initially said the right things since joining. He is overly positive and aiming to prove his doubters wrong.Hopefully either way, he is playing for a contract.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I'm pleased he's signed and more so that he's signed on loan. He's got to be better than the other strikers at the club. He sounds the sort of player that doesn't mind chasing lost causes. I noticed Arbitro was saying that we'd played well in the second half at Newport when we gone to a 4-3-2 shape with a narrow 3 in midfield. Maybe we'll modify that slightly on Saturday and play a 4-1-3-2 formation with Rhodes and Graham up front and Akpan the 1 in front of the back four.
yoda Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Positive signing showing intent, we need a warrior in midfield now
Amo Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 A good striker at this level who should add some much-needed firepower.

Neal Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Sunderland will be paying a portion of wages surely. Hope we get the Graham of 3 years ago but I personally feel another forward who's not scoring goals and has no pace is the last thing we needed.
joey_big_nose Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Not that excited about him to be honest. A static back to goal kind of player who isn't much good in the air. I would love to be proved wrong but lacks the pace and goal scoring record we really need. Had 2 good seasons with Swansea and Watford but apart from that hasn't scored many.
Pedro Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Glad we have signed him, we are a level below where he has been and hopefully it's a shrewd move. Great to see strength and experience being introduced back into the squad again.
Iceman Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We really can't be choosy at this point in time. We need to stay in this league, so we need experienced campaigners to get us through. Again, Graham knows what Lambert wants of him, so he will do what is needed
yoda Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Chaddy will condemn this signing . Probably do anything to deflect attention away from his red card appeal post
danger19_80 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Happy with this. Proven class player at this level. Think he'll get us up the pitch and will hopefully complement Jordan well.
speeeeeeedie Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Graham's signing gets top billing to today's Fiver; http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/20/the-fiver-sunderland-roy-chubby-brown

Baz Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Pleased with this deal. From what I see Graham is pretty mobile, in that he's either coming short, or making runs in behind defenders. He's scored goals at this level, which is more than our other forwards, bar Rhodes. We need that creative midfielder playing in behind him though.

We have signed so much crap of the last two years that whoever we sign is tarred with the same brush as the none entities we have at present, This signing is showing the intent for the future i.e.signing much better players, roll on summer.
tomphil Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Decent signing considering he's on loan with us only paying around half his wage. Hopefully he'll earn a modest contract by making a decent contribution. Let's face it he only has to score 1 goal and he's already improved things ! Some Sun'land fans say he was a hard worker so that's a plus and at least he brings a bit of Prem pedigree just by way of having been training/playing with a Prem squad so he should be fit. An upgrade on Blackpool and the likes cast offs surely.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Not impressed with this signing tbh but as long as he isn't a Rhodes replacement can hardly do any worse than Brown, Delfouneo and Koita. Echo a comment above though. Another non scoring striker is the last thing we need.
BlueMonday Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 They all start with a clean slate and our sincere wishes for success in the famous Blue & White halves.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Considering our league position I don't think we could realistically expect much better. If he was a proven goalscorer, he wouldn't be coming here... At least he's got a better track record in comparison to the other strikers we have on the books. Bar Rhodes obviously.

He signed for Boro on loan Feb 2014 and scored 6 in 18. I'll take 6 for the rest of the season, plus a few assists for Jordan would be nice. As long as he doesn't score all 6 in one game, unless it's against those dingles.

Out in social media world people seem to be missing the point that goal scorers cost big money which we haven't got or at least can't spend at the min. On the loan front no one will let them go out in Jan in case they need them later in the season even if they aren't being used now.
onlyonejackwalker Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Sign lower league players and you get.... What happens when you sign lads from the PL?
AggyBlue Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Good, let's get him upfront with Rhodes on Saturday and see what he can do. Goals should come easier for him in this division.
sambo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 People forget Graham has been playing for a Sunderland team who seem to constantly be in a managerial merry go round, and are always desperately fighting relegation. I think stability and feeling wanted could do him the world of good, his record pre-Sunderland isn't bad at all.
