aletheia
FGS5635 Looks like todays game plan is to hope graham does something. Same formation, same team, same tactics will likely result in same bad result. Aye. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. (Einstein.) This train of thought –we need a new hard line, the law has to be laid down, a tough, no compromise new regime needs installing, anyone who steps out of line should be ditched –is one I would normally warm to. However, I’m saying it is a gamble at this stage. More savvy required now and I’m not sure Lambert has it. Consider Olsssen. So long as it is not a direct assault on Lambert’s authority, then suck it up at this stage of the season. Better to play hardball in the summer. In short, the current playing style and management is a gamble. So long as we stay in this league it will be justified.

sharpysharps
Any point away from home is a decent point generally. Disappointment comes from what sounds like a pretty sluggish performance for the most part and that Charlton have been toned the last couple of games. Another team there for the taking that we rolled over foray times by the sounds of it (wasn't there so can't make much of an accurate judgment other than what I've heard and read on the game). Feb is a pretty scary month fixture wise. We simply HAVE to win at home against Fulham and MK Dons as a minimum, while a point at home to Hull would be a bonus and anything we get on the road at Derby or Boro would be fantastic. How did Bennett play today after coming on? I'm tired of seeing Taylor get a chance after a decent performance to then be really poor by the sounds of it. Was very surprised with the line up, I thought Lawrence would get the nod but he didn't even come on...I suspect his loan won't be extended further. Jackson sounded promising when coming on, but we knew the intention for him was to be an impact sub. Interested to hear how Graham played from anyone in attendance. These sloppy goals we are conceding are getting beyond a joke. I'd like to see the experienced Ward get a chance against Oxford, see what he can bring to the team, hopefully a calm head at the back who can read danger and cut it out. One last thought - 1 week left of the transfer window. Sounds like Olsson is a goner having not been put in the squad, and we need to improve on Spurr at LB. That creative midfielder with a bit of drive is a essential, hopefully we can get someone in to fill that void at least until the end of the season. RevidgeBlue
Have to be worried that we've just played the two teams probably in the worst form in the division and only come away with one point. Much better required in the weeks ahead. If only that Rhodes fella wasn't holding us back by scoring crucial goals again. Where we'd be without him simply doesn't bear thinking about. aletheia
The game against Oxford will be interesting. 442 long ball v a fluid, flexible passing game.

And I'm not even talking about the one I quoted. On the plus side it sounds like we played better today. Hopefully we can get that creative player in that Lambert wants. AggyBlue
Shocking ref spoiled the game. Graham spends more time on his backside than Rhodes. Bennett not good enough. Jackson's like a 'will o the wisp. Nice to meet David Dunn in the away end.

bigbrandjohn
Sorry I missed the early comments on the game. I was digging myself out of a deep mess in Pennsylvania. Guess Rovers were doing the same.
Neal
I think the only way we will improve is wait till the summer and literally get rid of pretty much all of the first team squad. Sounds dramatic but needs to happen, completely new mindset needed and we will only get that with dramatic changes. Too many gloryfied youth team players with chips on their shoulder, too many donkeys that clearly arent good enough and generally no ambition from them. neophox
Radio Lancs say good 2nd half from us. Worked the channels and more balls in from the wings, Graham and Rhodes teams up well. We may not win but the performance sounds like we can positively build upon it. Agree
VinjayV4
I think a lot of this reaction is due to Charlton's past couple of games. Realistically however they were never go to play as badly as that a third time in a row. They aren't completely useless having beaten Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham earlier in the season. I don't have the "would take a point away from home" outlook but its not a disaster. Radio Lancashire wouldn't broadcast the game online (probably rights issues) and I don't have Rovers Player so I cant really sum up the performance anyway. joey_big_nose
Graham was okay today. Him and Rhodes are very slow pairing but Graham battled. What was poor is clearly neither of them are really aerial players but we kept on hoofing at them. Other thing I noticed was we played a mega high line. Duffy and Hanley were right on the edge of their half most of the game. Good to see though the tactics were negated by the atrocious quality of passing from Akpan and Evans. We gave it away over and over again. Luckily Charlton were so poor also they would give it back. A quality passing midfielder would make a massive difference. If we are giving up on Guthrie we need a new one in.
Tyrone Shoelaces
Nearly 20 points off the playoffs, wow!!! Was never expecting that but so far away is poor in my opinion. I know I have said similar in the past but in my job there becomes a time with underperformance that you question "will vs skill" or "conduct vs capability" Does your team have the skill and capability to achieve what you are asking them to do? If thats a no then you need to coach them to get there, some won't ever get there and need to be shipped out. If the answer is yes, they do have the skill and capability then you potentially enter a different realm. They are using the conduct/will angle and basically choosing not to do whats required, dangerous! I am starting to questions the conduct and will of our players... How come it took so long ? G Somerset Rover
Lambert said we should have won and it was the best we have played in weeks. Only going off feedback from a couple of guys who went and they say it was two extremely poor teams and the draw was more than fair. Lambert wearing his blue n white glasses again it would seem.
