If Rochina reached his potential, he'd be playing for Real Madrid.

In 12/13, he scored 5 goals & made 3 assists in 18 apps. So people can keep referring to him as just a showpony, but the stats tell a somewhat different story. Admittedly, at times there couldn't have been a more frustrating player to watch, but he did have quality and a more adventurous manager would've stuck with him.

He scored a cracker for Granada last night and at times was subliminal...did a nice nutmeg as well showboating style

He had awful managers. I'm surprised by those stats.

Agree about Akpan. I think our less knowledgeable fans expect him to be the complete player, given his physique if he could pass and score goals consistently he'd be playing a lot higher than this league. Feel he just needs a talisman along side him so he can just focus on doing the simple things well, something which suits him.

Erm? I disagree with you but maybe that's due to my lack of knowledge... However, from the numerous home and away games I've attended, I've come to the conclusion Akpan isn't good enough. Not because he's 'not the complete player' but because he's not really good enough and certainly not consistent enough.

Whilst he may be a physical presence and gets himself about sometimes, I truly think he's too lightweight. Often shirks out of a challenge and isn't that good on the ball. Looks better than the rest of our CMs as he is mobile and above 5'7.

Fact is, NONE of them are good enough. We don't have an enforcer and we don't have a passmaster. We have a handful of players who possess half-qualities from each, with none of them being effective enough to do the jobs required. It's been the case for a long, long time and is a legacy of Gary Bowyer's time in charge. Soft-centred. Could ship out all our CMs and start again tomorrow if it was up to me.

I would. I rated Rochina whilst he was here but like any player with flair he was reviled on here. Rovers supporters generally do not appreciate skill.. I believe that Bryan Douglas would not be appreciated by the current supporters.

I would have to disagree,my take is somewhat opposite, he was loved on here by many because of his skills. Lots of folks seemed upset at him leaving although he lacked the football nuos to be.a.real impact player.

How is he doing now anyway? (genuine question)

For a ten minute spell after half time we were terrific, moving the ball quickly and with more intensity than we have for some time. Graham gave us something different and some of his hold up play and flick ons gave us optimism. I thought it was the best all round performance under Lambert but there is more to come I believe. A special word for Jackson from me who was really good for the time he was on. Again it was a different option and both him and Graham linked up quite well with Rhodes.

Whilst I was unhappy with the result the performance overall pleased me.

Positive comments but do you not have to balance it up against the fact that the opposition are a relatively poor side for now.

Just watched the "highlights" posted on the previous pages one of the games said highlights was Bennett running out of play and tripping over the advertising hoardings ... I truly doth my cap to fans who go all over the country supporting the team!!!

I suspect the contract Rochina was on might have been almost as much of a problem as GB's attitude towards him. I'd have him back like a shot if it was doable money wise and he wanted to come. Supremely talented player and potentially a great one imo.

To make sense of those stats you need to also have some about how many times he was caught in possession or gave the ball away.

Whereas our current crop are masters at keeping the ball?

Why is it more egregious for a flair player like Rochina to make mistakes and lose the ball, than the likes of Taylor, Conway, Lowe, Williamson, Marshall?

When you hear the manger making comments about one of his signings sometimes not being suitable for a club, is Elliot Bennett going to be similarly unsuitable with Blackburn Rovers because so far hes not made the best of starts.

Most seem to say that he played well yesterday when he came on, and his introduction definitely seemed to signal a change in performance levels for the team.

If he'd ever been given an extended run in the team apart from the odd appearance here and there and been afforded the sort of chances the likes of Lowe and Evans have had I'd say that point would have a lot more validity. It's also a lot easier not to give the ball away if you're only making a relatively meaningless square five yard sideways pass as opposed to trying to split the opposition defence.

Not sure about great but he was certainly good enough to shine in an average team in an average skill wise Championship. Any player that managed to look good at times under Kean must have a bit of something about him, Connections to the terrible duo meant he needed moving out though.

Yes I'd have him back, more flair in his big toe on his bad foot than anyone in our squad at the min.

I'm certainly not writing him off yet just found it rather strange that him tripping over the hoardings was a highlight and if it was the game must have been pretty damn poor!

Even Tugay was infamous for having an 'invisible friend' on account of his wayward passing. Players with quality who actually try to make things happen instead of taking the safe, sideways option always open themselves to ridicule.

At least he had the energy and motivation to chase down a lost cause and risk a serious injury trying to retrieve the situation.

Chase down a lost a cause? He ran 40 yards with the ball and ran straight out of play. A game of opinions I suppose.

totally agree! The fans loved him too. His name was sung with gusto every time he appeared. Who else can we say that about since relegation? Not even Rhodes to be honest.

My enduring memory of Rochina and a bit of a metaphor for his time here was the midweek game against City. We'd battled like mad and put in a really dogged, organised and gritty performance. 0-0 with 10 minutes to go, Rochina comes on, goes on a great run and nearly scored. 2 minutes later starting doing step overs in our ownhalf with defenders coming back from a corner, loses the ball needlessly, gets crossed to dzeko who scores and we lose 1-0. Those fine margins and his inability to learn when to stick or twist was enough to drive a sane man mental.
