magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 If he stays then I won't complain. Surely Boro knew the costs of the deal before taking to Jordan? Can't grasp why this has fallen over now. It's a shame for everyone involved. Boro really haven't come out of this well at all.

yoda Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 If this proves to be the case it could make Rovers winners in every respect. Lambert appears to have got the players he wanted, Rhodes - who is a good pro - will really have to up his game to get in the team PL appears to be building to get himself in the summer shop window. Might work out very well. Yep, just posted similar in the transfer thread, win win for PL
JHRover Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Not put Boro and Gibson in a good light at all. We don't know who has been changing the goalposts but someone has. Gutted for Rhodes because he deserved his chance and had been very professional throughout. He deserves his chance in the Premier League. Middlesbrough aren't there. If/when they go up then I'd have no gripe with him going there but we've still to play them twice this season and I wouldnt want him lining up for them against us when we're in a dogfight. I agree Rhodes is a fantastic professional and I have no doubt if he returns then he will be 100% committed to BRFC until told otherwise. This might affect Lambert's business today/tomorrow but this summer is going to need the owners to bankroll heavy spending from their own funds. That was the case when they appointed Lambert and nobody could have known for sure that Middlesbrough would be coming in for Rhodes. So we're back to square one on that one. At least this time nobody can blame Rovers for this fiasco!
jim mk2 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Shame for Rhodes. I'm not sure Lambert wants him to stay to and now Boro appear not to want him. It could have course be a negotiating ploy by Gibson and the deal will go through at reduced terms at the last minute.

RibbleValleyRover Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Unless another club comes in quickly for him this is awful news for Rovers. The player doesn't want to be here, the manager doesn't want him and it's likely we now won't have the funds to reinvest and strengthen in other areas. You can't blame Rovers for this but Boro have left us in the brown stuff.
BigBar Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Not sure how I feel about all this..was kinda set of him going and rebuilding..feeling concerned about how this affects the progression of the team. Also why feel sorry for him? He wanted out..he's very good at playing the nice lad.
Pedro Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 If he stays or goes, there are positives both ways. I would prefer to rebuild now rather than this circus carry on until the summer. One thing is for sure, Rhodes will behave himself. This will really mess with his head though. It sounds like either someone doesn't rate him up there, somebody got greedy, or their 1st choice is available now. With all this social media stuff, you get too many pieces of info filtering through and this kind of thing has always happened. The deal might well be back on again this time tomorrow.
den Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 One of two things to me. Either wages were a problem or Venkys have pulled him out.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Amazing turn of events. Feel sorry for Jordan. Why ? He's on £ 2 million a year at Rovers. He'll still be on that if he comes back with his tail between his legs. If I'd have done what he's done at my place of work I'd be down the road before too long.

Tardyrover Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 There's either someone else in for him or Rovers have offered him a big rise

One call from his Uncle 'what are you currently on?'.Something smells fishy.
chaddyrovers Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Could Rovers report Boro for their behaviour over this Rhodes bid???
yoda Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Could Rovers report Boro for their behaviour over this Rhodes bid??? Off course they can, Hey football league Boro have stitched us up, OK we will get back to you
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Yep, just posted similar in the transfer thread, win win for PL Not really. We'll have been in for other players to strengthen other positions. Unless Venkies step in and cover any costs that may be incurred we're back to square one with a guy on 40k a week who'll be probably sat on the bench p-ssing the rest of the squad off !
imy9 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Could Rovers report Boro for their behaviour over this Rhodes bid??? remember Venky's Did a similar thing last year!
JBiz Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Gibson is a crackpot for that. We will see rhodes mettle now if he stays, not many players would try after that. Dirty tactics, they knew his wage. Hope karanka walks

BigBar Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Probably because he is Seems very keen to leave then when it goes to its up saying what a great club rovers is..not sure how nice I find that
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 The fee was agreed with us. Venky's had signed it off. The issue will be with Rhodes' terms/agents fees etc. We haven't pulled the plug.
danielwhite813 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Jordan Rhodes' £11m move to Middlesbrough has fallen through. Fee was all agreed but understand deal collapsed over personal terms. #rovers

I think the outcome will be a bigger bid off another club now that it is possible to get one accepted by the owners, or has shelfy gone rogue again ?
Stonesrick Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I wouldn't be surprised if this was Gibson's doing for the way in which Venky's have dealt with them in the past?
tomphil Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 who scored in a European final and is doing well in Italy Yep a good player with proper football tactics, even looked good under Kean until they realised they could get 6 mill for him and forced him out. Always liked Niko but he was as infective as Rhodes with the ball down his throat.
