At any club the manager has got to be paramount. You can't afford to let any player or group of players become too powerful. Football history is littered with clubs who made that mistake and paid the price for it.

Couldn't agree more Tyrone. Lambert doesn't strike me as the type of guy who will back down and hence I suspect Rhodes is going to find life somewhat difficult from now on at Ewood. Having sought out Lambert I suspect that the owners will back him and Rhodes may well find himself behind Graham, Watt and Jackson in the pecking order. Going public, as he did today after Rhodes made his statement to Sky, would suggest that Lambert is giving the player the clearest signal possible that he will no longer be first choice at Ewood. It would be sad to see Rhodes become another Andy Crawford figure - another who thought he force a move and ended up destroying his career.

Someone on twitter saying a Fox journo is reporting it has been resolved. Don`t shoot the messenger!!!

That fox journo has been on Twitter for about an hour now, isn't verified so I doubt its legit.

Again, this strategy doesn't work in our favour long term as his value will plummet.

Best thing that can happen now is that Rhodes leaves tomorrow. Either Lambert likes a gamble or we are all being engineered to want Rhodes gone. Yesterday all the talk was that he should have gone in the Summer now that's turned on his head.

Twitter chatter is that the personal terms are now resolved - funny that.

What record does TFS_Blackburn have?

"Hearing Blackburn want Kike as part of the Jordan Rhodes deal, the wage issue has now been resolved #Boro #Rovers dlvr.it/KMqkpD"

Exactly how I see it. I haven't been a fan of some of Lambert's pronouncements before actually improving things but I think he got this spot on. In inferring publicy Jordan can't return to being top dog he's telling him to sort the deal or it really might never come again if he becomes a peripheral player. Career-defining day tomorrow for Rhodes: make the deal or risk seeing your dream disappear forever.

Still got a sneaky feeling the Boro deal for Rhodes might get done tomorrow ! Let's wait and see....... What do you think ??

I doubt he knows anything more than we do.

If Watt can play a #10 role and drop deeper, he could work well with Rhodes. I guess we'll have to see what happens!

The problem there is that Rhodes is up top on his own. He hasn't the pace to run off the shoulder of the last defender so the CH can push right up. He hasn't the strength with his back to goal to bring others into play so the CH can bully him. He doesn't work channels so the CH and full backs don't need to worry about playing narrow.

I know what you're saying about Watt but it's still a one dimensional tactic and for me Lambert wants the option of going long due to the poorness of the midfield. He's got an out ball with Jackson - pace and mobility and with Graham - strength. He doesn't get that with Rhodes as his game is all about the penalty box.

Funny looking at the big picture now.

Everyone wants Rhodes to go to Boro tomorrow: Rhodes, Lambert, Gibson, Boro fans, Rovers fans, Rhodes' agent.

Only the last one can make it happen now but it's no wonder he chanced his arm.

Indeed. I think it's only right and proper that the guys who played well on Saturday should start against 'Boro. You should have to deserve to wear the shirt. The other guys have to take it off them. I'd have Graham on the bench to start with,he can be brought on later if needs be.

If Rhodes is still here I'd leave him out for this game. His presence will count against us up there and will be counter productive. We need to quieten their crowd and players, not give them ammunition and motivation.

But the agent works for Rhodes...so it's HE who holds the power.

What's more important - performance and points or Rhodes value ? If it plummets it will be for a reason. We need to field our most effective team. It's as simple as that.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since I last logged on. So I'm sorry if this has already been covered. But if the Rhodes deal is off then are we not in a strong position? Rhodes comes back into the fold knowing the manager was happy to sell, knowing the cash rich (seemingly) boro can't pay what he wants, knowing the new signings have just performed very well and knowing he is contracted for another 3 years. Rhodes isn't a sulker. He'll get his head down. My sole concern are the squad might retain an unspoken annoyance that he's still coining it in and Lambert will miss the chance to strengthen now. But a wounded and motivated Rhodes will ensure his value doesn't drop, possibly see off relegation and we'll sell in the summer. Promotion even with a strengthened side this month us way beyond the realms of reality anyway.

I personally think it screams of an agent being too greedy and an owner not having any of it, whether for personal gain or trying to get the absolute best for his client (the two are obviously linked). I like Jordan, I just can't imagine him being a greedy person and I think he would desperately want to play in the Premier League. Boro have said it is terms, Rovers have said it is terms and Rhodes says he is "Baffled" - someone wants too much.

Me neither.

Could be the agent, but Jordan needs to get a grip of the situation if that's the case. I like the lad but this is a proper mess.

Who would like to be a fly on the wall at training tomorrow ?

Hope he gets a good ribbing off the team, imagine he's the type to take it in good graces as well

There is three ways this can go tomorrow, first if Rhodes drops his demands and the deal is back on at the same fee agreed, second, obviously if no one comes in he sticks with Rovers, thirdly I can see another club offering less than 9/11 million, after seeing PL really wanting him away and making it awkward for Jordan to play for us again,I personally think he will still end up at Boro, after sleeping on it,and settle for less dosh, should be an interesting day tomorrow..

Before this Boro saga, Lambert was talking about bringing in a couple of loanees anyway, so Rhodes coming back won`t make much of a difference. When summer window opens he will be gone and we will be able to sort out a few permanent players, as originally planned.

I applaud Lambert's stance and handling on this.

It will also send a clear message to all the rest of the players that you mess with the manager at your peril.

I also applaud Gibson who has said enough is enough of this greed.

I think Rhodes will have a sleepless night and scarper up to M'boro early doors tomorrow with his tail between his leg and an agent with a bloodied nose.

I hope if the move gets sorted tomorrow and he ends up going it's early on so we have time to get the couple of players in we will have probably had lined up with the money we were meant to be getting for Rhodes, them deals will probably be on hold now so if rhodes goes late in the day it will be a big rush to get any new players in.
