Jordan Rhodes's move to Middlesbrough isn't completely dead just yet https://t.co/5UHjN4C2l3https://t.co/9061wCqA9Q

From BBC Reporter Steve Crossman

I understand the Jordan Rhodes deal could yet happen. Latest is that communication between parties has resumed, so it's not totally dead.

As I said in the transfer thread, nightmare scenario is he goes at the 11th hour and due to lack of time we bring in nobody. Of course that should not be the case (we should be planning for all eventualities) but knowing our luck it will happen.

It's clear Rhodes has no future here now. He wants to go and Lambert wants the money to sign players he wants. Would have preferred to see him stay until the summer but with the current circumstances it's better if he goes now. I'm just hoping a prem team comes in for him, he deserves a crack at the top level. I strongly suspect he will fail at prem level against better defenders.

They've probably just told him to go and plonk himself in a room in a hotel by a motorway and not to far from an airport so he's ready to shoot somewhere. It's going to be a long old day for Jordan & co.

Not really a surprise there, Gibson is always the type to play hardball, and any contract is a negotiating nightmare.

Biggest worry now is deadline day has arrived, will this leave us really in the worst case scenario, Rhodes leaves but we don't have time to finalise any deals for incoming players.

Personally I get the dread feeling we will end up with Fox in Rhodes out and be undone on other deals.

That would be a daft trick. He's still bloody handy if he does end up staying.

I agree entirely. I wouldn't even want to sell him in the first place.

I just meant he might have sent him home or wherever until deadline day is done

The loan window is open for a while yet isn't it? So we wouldn't be completely screwed...

The odds have bee up and down all morning. At the minute 8/11 he moves to Boro and 11/10 he stays at Rovers. I think he will be gone before the window closes.

With the emergency loan window opening after the transfer window closes - is it really a big deal for Championship clubs ?

True not completely but given we are selling him so we can afford to rebuild it will be painful, most of the good players won't be close to the loan market and hell your not really rebuilding if your getting players in on loan (well except a loan with a view but they tend to be gambles).

Jordan Rhodes. So much bad blood over the Middlesbrough move that it would take some transfusion to sort it ...

Plus I would not put it past Gibson to gimp us by taking his time given they will be playing us pretty darn soon.

Rovers need to put a deadline on it then. Sign by 16:00 or you're staying till the summer. He's already passed a medical and agreed 99% of contractuals. Put up or shut up Gibson.

I think that's something we've all been missing, Rhodes has been made to look a prize pillock in all this, mainly by Gibson and Boro. Can't imagine he's that desperate to sign for them after having his name dragged through the mud.

I think it'll happen too. Rhodes really is the missing piece to their jigsaw. Looking at recent results, they've been playing well but struggling to score.

I'll lose a lot of respect for Rhodes if he doesn't go. Not only would he probably have a field day playing behind Downing, Ramirez, Leadbitter and Adomah at this level, but he'd also be fairly sure of Premier League football next year. It would tell you where his priorities lie if he doesn't make something happen.

It seems like a right mess, i would be tempted by the odds on him staying. Less than 12 hours to go.

From Bbc Andy Bayes

Jordan Rhodes has left Blackburn's training ground. Interest from another party. @BBCSportsday @BBCLancsSport #rovers #brfc

Re: Rhodes. Not ruling out Boro from doing the deal, but another party certainly interested. #rovers

Any idea who the interested party is? Hopefully its a premier league team (just not Newcastle, hate them lot)

Edit: Seen the post above - FFS!

So if you agreed terms with a new employer, then got there and they said, "I know we said we'd give you X, but would you take Y (less) instead". Would you be happy with that?

It's not a great start is it?

Well, Sunderland sound like they might sell Defoe to Bournemouth, leaving quite an opening there.

The other option is Newcastle, if they aren't getting Berahino and they were prepared to over over 20 million....

I'm also thinking of putting in a bill for lack of work getting done due to this Rhodes saga proving a major distraction. Where do I send it though and should I enclose a few clauses and a loyalty bonus for still supporting him if he stays ?
