Twisting it a bit you two, you conveniently missed the parts where he said Rhodes was great, but he needs to rebuild the squad. Saying we should of HAVE sold a 9m rated striker because we need the whole squad improving isn't having a go at the striker at all, it is a simple statement of fact. Rhodes himself made it clear during the summer he wanted to talk to suitors so again just a matter of fact statement. I don't see how anyone can take offense from that.

As for Rhodes, well both him and PL have stated he wanted to talk to other clubs, he has done so and found that actually they can't afford him, maybe that will settle him down a bit and anyway we have been through this for years now, every time Rhodes has kept scoring.

In an ideal world he would of been sold and we might of landed 2-3 good players at this level.. that is not the case but Rhodes has now checked out the other side of the fence and we managed to get a few players in who may actually turn out to be good for Rhodes.

Fed up of this bad English. I will correct it every time I see it!

Newcastle apparently.

Brilliant, let's flog him up there. They'll soon get sick of their new no. 9 - and McClaren is spending like a man possessed so he'd cough up cash up front.

All we can hope is Saido has told them he wants Spurs move. Plus, take note everyone that Spurs have already sent Pritchard to WBA so there might have been pre-discussions regarding the Berrahinho move.

I'd love to rub Boro's face in it if he goes to Newcastle

From Bbc Andy Bayes

Jordan Rhodes has left Blackburn's training ground. Interest from another party. @BBCSportsday @BBCLancsSport #rovers #brfc

Hopefully a Premiership Club who can actually afford Rhodes and aren't piddling about with nearly one third of the proposed fee in add ons. Maybe Boro might have done us a favour with their antics.

In footballing terms I'd far rather still keep him until summer though.

Fans have to recognise that both parties, the club and player, want the sale.

This isn't about Rhodes wanting to leave, transfer requests or engineering a move to a another club. This is about Blackburn Rovers needing to sell, however the club wont go public with that, because that'll affect the players price.

This is the residue left from the Kean's days - signing a player on a stupidly-long contract, on stupidly-high wages and assuming promotion back to the Premier League will fix everything.

Jordan Rhodes is in a good place, he is guaranteed a high wage for another 3.5 years. The problem is, it that his career is likely to stagnate if he stays. He shouldn't be blamed for wanting to leave, because the club don't want him but they have to play him to keep his value. This isn't a player like Nathan Delfoneso, for example - who you can leave him to rot in the reserves - because he holds no value.

Other clubs will be monitoring this situation closely, if he doesn't go anywhere today, in the summer - his price will drop. Even if he doesn't find a new club, by this time next year, he'll be even cheaper.

He should sack his agent, a pay cut and a season in the Premier League (which is likely with Boro) could be a stepping stone to a further transfer to an established top flight club.

That would be the ideal end to all this, Gibson gazumped, Boros gobshites in meltdown, more money maybe for us and a shiny Prem contract and team for JR.

Yep. As long as we survive the rest of the season without being relegated.

Don't see any other major incomings happening today whether Rhodes goes or not.

Understand there is interest from Watford in Jordan Rhodes. Nothing more than that at this moment in time, mind. #rovers

Yes there is that and I don't think we'll see dollar one of his money being spent. A loan of a few players will probably see us grind out enough to stay up. Summer will be very interesting, after the 9 mill has been swallowed up in operating costs :angry2:

Odds have just bee slashed on him going to Boro. It is looking a likely deal now at 1/2 and 7/4 he remains at Ewood.

Odds reduced again to 2/5. Looks like it is a done deal again!

From Greame Bailey. Journolist and Boro fan

Middlesbrough ready to sit down with Jordan Rhodes again. Blackburn want the move to happen so happy for talks to continue.

So they've got 'poor' Jordan over a barrel now having slept on it.

As much as it pains me to say it, well played Gibson.
