Iceman Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Weirdest deal! I have no idea why we agreed to that. Basically we gave him to Boro for 6 months, while getting nothing in return. Well, at least until the summer.
AdamRochina Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 If we are not getting paid until summer he can stay till summer simple as
pick32 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Ridiculous if true, keep him for 6months then sell him, we need to invest now! This squad isn't good enough to survive this division.
sharpysharps Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Kind of expected that, the summer is when Lambert will do major business, not with hours to go on deadline day...that would just be panic stations and quite a daft thing to do. Any deals lined up by Rovers today will likely rely more on offloading Rhodes' wage.
jim mk2 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Boro buying on HP then. I hope we're charging them interest.
Backroom Tom Posted February 1, 2016 Author Backroom Posted February 1, 2016 Makes sense to me Get guaranteed cash in summer get players in on deals like Watt with a permanent deal in summer. Great thinking
Kie_BRFC Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Doug and Piranha Dinsdale sketch, RHODESIE, RHODESIE, RHODESIE Why ? Because we are getting nothing for him for the next 6 months, where we will miss his goals when fighting relegation. We can't strengthen now to replace his goals, and then we get the money in summer when it may be too late. Big risk imo.
rovers11 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I guess we'll see tonight whether the money will indeed won't be spent until the summer. I imagine the majority will be spent in the summer, but I find it hard to believe we won't make a cash signing tonight.
yoda Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Boro buying on HP then. I hope we're charging them interest. Most of these "big" deals get done on HP these days, interest would be good though
koi Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Makes sense to me Get guaranteed cash in summer get players in on deals like Watt with a permanent deal in summer. Great thinking Or, get the cash now and stick it the bank for some interest.

Yes, but we can do a buy now, pay later deal, just like we've done with Watt and Graham.
tomphil Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 The Rhodes money will be this summers parachute payment ...........
Iceman Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Well I suppose we could sign a few players now, and pay for them with the Rhodes money in the summer
Dean Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Ridiculous if true, keep him for 6months then sell him, we need to invest now! This squad isn't good enough to survive this division. Have you looked at the teams around us? We're definitely good enough to survive. Slightly strange deal in terms of waiting until the summer, but given that we were unlikely to spend a penny until then it doesn't make much difference. As long as we know the money is coming, Lambert can get on with planning the major re-building job.
gumboots Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Well if they're not paying till summer we should be able to insist he doesn't play against us
islander200 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Rhodes arriving shortly at Boro. Also look like we will get the Rhodes money in the summer so it will allow us to spend then and money appears on next season accounts I Cant see on Twitter where kamy says that?I only see him mention that we get 2 million if they go up and then a further 2 million if they stay up?
yoda Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 The Rhodes money will be this summers parachute payment ........... That's one way of looking at it Glaringly obvious now that Gibson didn't have the £9 million up front
Mercer Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Rhodes arriving shortly at Boro. Also look like we will get the Rhodes money in the summer so it will allow us to spend then and money appears on next season accounts Accounting doesn't work like that................unless you are Tesco ! An old saying - you can only take cash to the bank and not profit !
yoda Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Accounting doesn't work like that................unless you are Tesco ! Accountancy rule one at Tesco, there are no rules
roverandout Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I'm sure the money will be available in the summer, more probably go straight into Mrs d's bank account!!
islander200 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Where is this coming from?Chaddy is saying Kamy said it on Twitter,iv just had a read and he said 9 million up front,2 million if they go up,2 million if they stay up
roverandout Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I think he's asses up the job enough so far!
