Dont understand this pay later thing? Surely if we SELL him today, we have to take the sale to the books THIS year, to do anything else means he hasn't been sold (inferring he's been loaned)

Not sure of football rules in the sense of what minimum initial payment is required.

In accounting terms, transactions go into the books at the point of sale / purchase and therefore as income / expenditure and profit / loss IRRESPECTIVE of whether money has been received for the sale or paid for the purchase. You then have an asset in the balance sheet (debtor for monies owed to you) or a liability (creditor for monies you owe). Hence the old adage that 'cash is king' - you only take 'cash' to the bank and not 'unrealised' income/profit (sales not paid for).

Never thought I'd be happy to see Rhodes gone but after the farce of the last 3 days, he couldn't stay. We get a decent amount of cash and they get a goal scorer. Sad in some ways but I'm glad it's over. Time to move on.
