Reedy You're A Star Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 What deals ha You seem to think we won't start looking for players or arranging deals until we sell someone. This isn't Fifa or FM, we can arrange deals without the money in the bank. Things should be lined up ready to sign off when the Rhodes deal is offical, hence why PL was so @#/? when it fell through yesterday. These should now go through. If there isn't anything lined up though, then we should lose our @#/?.

magicalmortensleftpeg Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Boro fans seem absolutely delighted about bringing Rhodes in. If only they knew what a terrible player he is. Surely even you must realise that he couldn't stay after yesterday. He clearly wanted to leave and Boro have paid a ridiculous amount of money for him. At least this circus will end.
Amo Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 As I say, operation dumb down is complete with many. In the past we had overpromoted managers who were happy to have players sold over their heads because they were living the dream. Lambert isn't the type to put up with that. Just like his compatriot for the national side, he doesn't rate Rhodes for the system he wants to play and recognises the need for investment. The only problem will be if he isn't given the funds promised for the summer.
garnersfags Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 A lot of us are feelin slightly easier about losing Jordan because of how we played on Saturday. Having contemplated this today, I think it is a dangerous assumption. Our loan players haven't pulled up any trees this season at their previous clubs so I expect them to take a while to gel and achieve Championship fitness. This will mean we may have a few more disappointments before we turn the corner. Hopefully we kick on from our 5th round success.
VinjayV4 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 A proper owner unlike our charlatans Its not that long ago he was getting a load of criticism for hiring poor managers. Stuck with Southgate for ages though of course he did play a vital (but not sole role) in saving them in the 80's. Anyone confident about deadlines? Has Shaw actually bothered to go to Ewood today though probably would be better if he wasn't involved. Probably needs 5 hours to pick up a phone.
chaddyrovers Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Alan Nixon on twitter has said on BBC Radio Lancs that it is Lambert who has push this deal through. The owners didnt really want to sell but they have back Lambert
VinjayV4 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Wheelock seems a bit overloaded... Sounds like Jordan Rhodes is closer to becoming a Middlesbrough but when I checked then it wasn't done yet.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 He had to go, expecting him to stay and knuckle down was unrealistic considering Rhodes desire to leave for several seasons and the Manager's comments. Just hope we have the time to get a couple of players in before the window shuts.
koi Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Right Lambert get those two lads out od the hotel now and get them signed. He's probably forgot they're still there.
Stuart Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Surely even you must realise that he couldn't stay after yesterday. He clearly wanted to leave and Boro have paid a ridiculous amount of money for him. At least this circus will end.No he couldn't because Lambert made sure the door was firmly shut and the drawbridge raised. But that doesn't mean we haven't lost an excellent player. Some fans on here are desperate to see the back of one of the club's top scorers because they don't think he's good enough. Boro fans are over the moon.We badly need to replace those goals now, and I don't see them in the remaining squad. Alan Nixon on twitter has said on BBC Radio Lancs that it is Lambert who has push this deal through. The owners didnt really want to sell but they have back Lambert No kidding Alan. All eyes on Lambert now. He's just taken a massive gamble with our future.

The owners didnt really want to sell but they have back Lambert Well at least that would be an indication they kept their word about 100% Lambert control.
Backroom Tom Posted February 1, 2016 Author Backroom Posted February 1, 2016 Good luck to him, genuine lad and a phenomenal strike rate, shame it's ended here on a sour note with possibly greed hampering us.
Backroom Mike E Posted February 1, 2016 Backroom Posted February 1, 2016 Why do you have to seel your star striker to rebuild the team wasnt everybody told that the club had money. JAL, you are either thick or a world class troll. It has been explained to you numerous times (thrice by me).
J*B Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Twitter has randomly started suggesting I follow Grant Holt. Not this, Twitter.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I still for the life of me can't see what advantage at all there is to us in letting Rhodes leave now if Boro aren't paying us anything until the summer. Are we that hard up we have to save on his wages? Has it been deliberately engineered so we can't spend any money this window? Something doesn't feel right about this window, it has the whiff of everything that isn't nailed down and can be sold. But hey, we're going to spend a fortune in summer so we keep being told so that's OK. At least we might be the richest club in division one.
Pedro Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Good luck to him, genuine lad and a phenomenal strike rate, shame it's ended here on a sour note with possibly greed hampering us. Scored a lot. Got back more than what we paid for him. Good luck to him.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted February 1, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted February 1, 2016 I'd be amazed if 'Boro haven't put any money down for Rhodes and it's all in the summer. Surely we wouldn't be that daft?
Baz Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Sky reporting he has just turned up. Wheres he been all day?
yoda Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 hes only just got there Hope has took a pen with him Sky reporting he has just turned up. Wheres he been all day? Blubbering over the houses
jim mk2 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Reading the Boro messageboards there's plenty of fans who know Rhodes's limitations and think they've paid far too much.
Claytons Left Boot Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Just watch Rhodes bag a few in his first few games and this messageboard go into meltdown...
mayo Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Hopefully his representatives have agreed the deal elsewhere and he's now turned up for the official signing and photos etc. Otherwise this is going to drag on if they're only just starting negotiations again!

We're not going to spend the money tonight so what difference does it make??!!! Rhodes isn't worth £13m and he wants to go. He doesn't suit the way Lambert wants to play and the funds will be used to strengthen the squad as a whole. That is why it makes sense to sell. We've had Rhodes for 4 seasons and he hasn't got us close to promotion. His value was only going to go down. If Boro had bought McCormack then we wouldn't get anything close to £10m come the summer. Time to move on. I'm glad it's over.
