[Archived] Rhodes To Boro

I still for the life of me can't see what advantage at all there is to us in letting Rhodes leave now if Boro aren't paying us anything until the summer.

Are we that hard up we have to save on his wages? Has it been deliberately engineered so we can't spend any money this window?

Something doesn't feel right about this window, it has the whiff of everything that isn't nailed down and can be sold.

But hey, we're going to spend a fortune in summer so we keep being told so that's OK. At least we might be the richest club in division one.

Who apart from some dude on Twitter has said this?

For me there's too much info and too little of it quality. Too much guesswork. Not enough patience in the world and not enough common sense when it comes to social media. I said yesterday that this time tomorrow it will be back on. It's a mundane and predictable game that they all play but fans fall for it time after time.

Say if it is true, maybe Boro can pay in a massive lump sum and this deferred transaction prevents them from going into embargo. No doubt Our club would prefer as much as possible, as soon as possible and 5 months isn't a long time at all. Maybe another team would pay £13m+ but it is drip fed to us over the course of his contract - that is very common.

Lots of scenarios, all which end up with us getting an agreed fee.

Lambert gone up in my estimation.

Did the right thing. Rocket up Rhodes and his agent and they got it sorted.

looking forward to a very interesting summer for the club

The next few months will determine if he did the right thing or not. Right now all we can say is he forced through the sale of our top goalscorer. Whether that improves us as a team remains to be seen.

Not sure of football rules in the sense of what minimum initial payment is required.

In accounting terms, transactions go into the books at the point of sale / purchase and therefore as income / expenditure and profit / loss IRRESPECTIVE of whether money has been received for the sale or paid for the purchase. You then have an asset in the balance sheet (debtor for monies owed to you) or a liability (creditor for monies you owe). Hence the old adage that 'cash is king' - you only take 'cash' to the bank and not 'unrealised' income/profit (sales not paid for).

At last a sensible post on the subject.

Boro fans seem absolutely delighted about bringing Rhodes in.

If only they knew what a terrible player he is.

They had a vote on the local paper's website the other day; which striker would they prefer out of Patrick Bamford, Ross McCormack, or Rhodes. Rhodes came third with 20 something percent.

That's true. It's clear that he didn't fancy Rhodes but no one knows what will happen. Think he will live or die by this decision though.

Bowyer tried to do this but got blocked and it ultimately cost him his job. At least Lambert wont die wondering.

We have to support the manager and the team.

That's it. He needs to back this up with results, performances and progress.

So Rhodes didn't want to leave then ? Funny but I could have sworn he asked to speak to Lambert regarding a move to ' Boro .

Really?

So much faith and hope offered to individuals running the club who have demonstrated they could not run a @#/? up in a Brewery.

Let's just hope this is not the Loons from Pune selling the last jewel before they cast us adrift.
