VinjayV4 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I dread to think what young Max would have done if he was around when Shearer left. I felt like crying that day. "What about the effing kids Shearer?" yelled one guy on his first return.

Mercer Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I wouldn't have thought Rhodes is too keen on playing Rovers twice within the next four weeks. It's only human nature that there will be a few in the Rovers camp aggrieved that he was paid a king's ransom whilst he was at Ewood. I don't think Rhodes will be relishing too many 50/50 balls with the likes of Hanley, Akpan and Conway. I have little doubt that Grant will offer a word or two in Rhodes' shell-like whilst waiting in the tunnel !
booth Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I hope the likes of Graham and Watt are desperate to upstage his debut. Will Lambert be winding them up? I hope so.
roversoutsider Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Rhodes messaged the dad of young max who cried when told Rhodes was leaving. Decent of him to be fair. Where can I see this?
Mercer Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I dread to think what young Max would have done if he was around when Shearer left. I felt like crying that day. I learnt about Shearer's departure whilst sat on a beach on holiday with the family. My young lads were stunned and it cost a bob or two in the day to take their minds off it !
JAL Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I'm not a big fan of his but I can't see why he should be booed. He did his best for the club while he was here. When moves he wanted got knocked back in the past he got on with it. He never showed the club in a bad light. Ok he was a bit tardy in signing for ' Boro but that's football today. I won't be booing him anyway. It would be very embarrassing and show a lack of class if any Rovers fan should boo Jordan on his return it really would given his good service to the club.

I was waiting for a match thread to be put up to say I wonder who will be first to 'go' for Rhodes? Think how he's 'marked' will tell it's own story
Neal Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Where can I see this? I know Carl (his dad), we run in the same circle of mates just been told from one of his best mates. He's going to meet Max at the Boro game. Fair do's to him, that's a decent thing for him to do... Hats off.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Can we mark? Mm, not very well at the moment. Another aspect we need to improve on. I'd put the new guy from Bournemouth on Rhodes. No axe to grind and he's pretty experienced. We'll have to go steady at ' Boro but when we play the Ewood game how we go about shackling him will be revealing.
Blue Cabbage Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Can we mark? We're allowed to yes, but at Rovers it's strictly optional
Amo Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Doesn't matter how bad a game Rhodes has. We all know he can be anonymous for 89 minutes and then pop up out of nowhere with a goal.
Backroom Tom Posted February 2, 2016 Author Backroom Posted February 2, 2016 I get the feeling every time we lose this is going to be used as a stick to beat Lambert with, feel some lines have been drawn in the sand.
Stuart Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I get the feeling every time we lose this is going to be used as a stick to beat Lambert with, feel some lines have been drawn in the sand. But it will be Tom. To suggest that lines should be drawn that it can't be brought up is rubbish. Lambert has decided we are better off without him. Plenty of people disagree. He knows best because he has the experience to back it up but he is also under pressure to back it up as well.Done right, it will make him work harder, and the players too. They will know, quite rightly, that there is greater expectation on them. The manager has set them up as "a better team without Rhodes". Now they have to prove it.

Now they have to prove it. It's not as simple as that though. JR wanted to leave and PL felt it was best to use the money to revamp the team. Perhaps, if he'd had the option of keeping Rhodes and also signing new players he'd have gone down that route.
BlueMonday Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I get the feeling every time we lose this is going to be used as a stick to beat Lambert with, feel some lines have been drawn in the sand. That happened very early and its baffling. Rovers fans are turning into Pavlov's dog, every time we see a football we expect bad things to happen...
dingles staying down 4ever Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 To be fair this decision is such a major one then the manager has to live or die by it. If he has got it wrong then it is not just his career that could be killed by it but the club future in this division. If he gets it right, he'll want all the plaudits and he deserves them. I can't remember a manager making such a brave/idiotic decision. Time will tell which one it is.

To see if the Rhodes money has been spent wisely. Losing on Saturday against Boro will not show whether it was a good call or not.

Many more performances like the ones since Christmas, he may not last til summer.

Perhaps, if he'd had the option of keeping Rhodes and also signing new players he'd have gone down that route. We'd have to sign nearly a team full. Even with the players ' Boro have it's a gamble on their part also.I remember ' City running away with the old First Division. They also went for the last piece in the jigsaw, Rodney Marsh. Marsh was a tremendously gifted player but a bit of an individualist. By the time ' City had got him playing their way their advantage had gone and they got pipped for the title.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing bugs me more than multi-millionaire players whining about being wanted. Narcissitic tossers the lot of them

bluefred Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Rhodes has gone ,get over it. He didn't want to be here any more , hasn't for last 18 month , now he's winging about not being wanted here . Was it not him who wanted to speak to boro ? Well he got his wish, it would of gone through the first time if he weren't being so greedy. The King is dead , long live the King .

Rovers overpaid to get him - that's why there is little gain.
