He uses 'we' and 'us' liberally. I thought he was more involved in AFC Darwen than Rovers.

Probably sponsorship the WEC Group pulled theirs from Rovers of course. Didn't really like the "proud local sponsor" anyway I wanted a "proud global sponsor" though Venkys have done nothing for global marketing. Bit hard in the Championship I suppose.

Think Wild's comments might get a bit more attention tomorrow perhaps in the LT. Not sure who wrote the rest of it Wild was just quoted.

I told Wild on twitter he should be criticising some other people too but won't bring up that particular thread again lol.

He is right though, if you look at the likes of the clubs he mentioned it's only the fact they are city clubs who get big crowds that enables them to stay at champ level despite no real assets. We are ok as long as we have a big asset to sell now and again AND the owners somehow underpin the debt.

The parachutes have stopped now and many predicted assets would then be cashed in, they have. What happens when there is no one to sell ? The owners will still have to under pin 75% of the running costs with the other 25% our measly income. Simply they'll have to invest.

First of all sad to see Jordan go thanks for the memories but we all knew if he didnt leave this window he would definitely be gone in the summer. I really felt he would leave soon after seeing his performance against Bolton he just didnt look interested.

I really hope PL clears out some of the passengers in the squad who simply are not good enough. Which I am sure this will be his first priority in the summer.

Thanks again for the memories Jordan.

I get the feeling every time we lose this is going to be used as a stick to beat Lambert with, feel some lines have been drawn in the sand.

And rightly so imo. Lambert has come to the conclusion we'll be better off without Rhodes so if that proves not to be the case then he must accept the blame.

The worst part about it for me is not just the sale per se but the timing. I totally get he isn't a Lambert style of player and that Lambert thinks he can successfully introduce a different style of play but he was sold at a point where it was too late to reinvest any or all of the sale proceeds in the team. I'd have kept him until summer to insure against the threat of relegation. To use an extreme example, if you've got four strikers and Chris Brown to choose from you're still stronger than if you've got four strikers. (Admittedly only just.)

The 9m sat in either ours or Boros Bank until summer will be little consolation if we are relegated.

What guarantee do you have that Boro would still be interested in Rhodes come the summer? If they get promotion then they would be able to attract far better players for the same money. No other club has looked like they would seriously consider bidding for him. The money is too good to turn down.

They might have been they might not. Another Club might have been they might not.

We might have got a lot more money for him in summer given the new Premiership TV deal.

What guarantees do you have we'll stay up without him?

I'd always always take quality on the pitch over money in the Bank personally.

There was absolutely no guarantee that we wouldn't go down even with him playing in the team.

No, but the statistics would suggest that as bad as we.ve been, we were good enough to stay up with him in the team/squad. Holding onto him and bringing in reinforcements should have increased that comfort zone. Why gamble and put that at risk?

Nor is Mr Khan down at the Indian takeaway. Who gives a monkeys what WW saya, JR has gone, the deal is done and we will never know the finer details.

Move on; life is too short.

I'm not surprised Lambert got rid. Since he'd arrived Rhodes had scored what... two league goals, one of which was a penalty against Preston. And we all know that if Rhodes isn't scoring he's about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

In our current state throughout December and January we were sleep walking in to relegation, that was with Rhodes starting every single game and offering absolutely sod all. Now that we've brought in Watt, Graham, Gomez we might just have enough to stop the rot - certainly not guaranteed, but at least Lambert now has players he wants to work with.

We sold him at the right time and providing M'Boro carry on their excellent form we'll have £11m sat in the bank come June 1st.

Simon, I know you like Rhodes but his time had come. He was ineffective for 97% of all games and clearly Lambert didn't think he was going to fit into his plans.

You can moan and gripe all you want if we lose games from now on, but the plain fact is we've been absolutely pathetic with Rhodes in the team for a good while now.

Gestede, King, Cairney Olsson and Rhodes sales have brought in around 25m (including add ons)

I'm expecting to see PL given a minimum of 10m to spend in the summer otherwise the V's can go f*** themselves.

on the bright side now JR's gone at least we don't have any coveted players left, save us panicking every time there's a transfer window.

If they don't invest in summer they need to go.

There'll still be a desperate panic to sell all the useless buggers that are left!

Surely the Rhodes sale and Shaw leaving are not unrelated?

The timing of both suggests a plan from someone higher up than the MD.

And there's no word from the owners, as far as I know, to confirm Lambert will get any of the Rhodes cash to invest in the squad.

People moan when Venkies make grandiose statements of intent and people moan when Venkies don't say anything. Let's just wait and see. We'd be crazy to be shouting about what we're going to spend in summer at this moment.

Just had a conversation with a colleague in Middlesbrough and he has been told that the deal was called off on Sunday due to Rhodes' agent asking for £750k for himself after the deal had been agreed. Gibson baulked at this and walked away. Although my colleague isn't involved in football he is well connected in the business world and his past information has proved to be correct.

You would have to assume then that Rhodes has or will kick this greedy fecker into touch.

You can't lay any blame at Gibson's door if this is true, most of us would have done likewise and refused to deal with the rotter again!

Can't help but think Lambert is having another dig at Rhodes in his comments here.

"It’s been a massive month for the club. It's about building a squad. The club is bigger than any player and I'm delighted with what happened on deadline day."
It reads to me as though Lambert's issue with Rhodes went beyond his contribution on the pitch. Lambert seems to be suggesting he's delighted that Rhodes left.
I find it odd that he's talking about his squad 'taking shape' when Gomez, Graham, Watt and Jackson are actually only here to the end of the season.

I can't help but think a few of these loans will be made permanent if they do well, based on those comments in any case. When you take into account just how many are out of contract in the summer as well.
