For the clowns that suggested that we wouldn't score goals without him, because we absolutely relied on him for goals - that argument was put to bed some time ago. Weve actually scored 20 goals in the 18 games since he left, compared to only 14 goals in the 18 games prior to him leaving. That's 6 more goals without him and hopefully £11m in the bank. It was a no brainier for us, in our position, to refuse that money. If it's invested properly we will be better far off than we could have ever been by keeping hold of him and struggling by.

Apart from that, Lambert et al know the best way to improve a teams performances doesn't include a non footballing forward. It didn't work for us and it won't work for others either. The way forward for this club now is to bring in two or three strikers who can play the way Graham plays. Strikers who will actually provide service to their team mates, Not by using strikers who can do nothing for their teammates.

Give over den. You've included the 3-0 FA Cup win over 3rd division Oxford in your figures which skews the calculation somewhat and even if you conveniently include that win against weaker opposition, the goalscoring stats still aren't anywhere near good enough.

In the League the goals to games ratio is as follows:

Bowyer (with Rhodes) 15 goals 16 games

Lambert (with Rhodes) 9 goals 11 games

Lambert (without Rhodes) 16 goals 16 games

Virtually no difference and the only firm conclusion that can be drawn is that we've not scored anywhere near enough goals this season, either under Bowyer or Lambert, either with Rhodes up front or an allegedly more "complete" forward who supposedly brings the rest of the team into play etc.

it's not an exact science anyway. Who's to say Rhodes and the team wouldn't have been far more prolific in the first half of the season if Gomez had been supplying him from midfield as well? We'll never know, but you're not comparing like with like.

To be fair, with the money on offer, if we had a chance to make ourselves a better team, it's something we had no choice with. Granted it's only been loans, also worth noting we're in a similar place in the league now to when he left....

My argument is and always will be his goals ratio is irreplaceable unless we sign a harry Kane were stuck with poor loanees and Chris Brown.. End of argument

Thanks for that post. I was working on something similar so you saved me the time/trouble of it.

As far as this season goes, we were awful with Rhodes, we've been awful without him. There's nothing to suggest his departure has made us a better or a worse team, only that he was far from the biggest problem at the club and his sale will only prove useful if we can use the money generated - which is a pretty big 'if' right now.

No mate we are a far better TEAM now without him. Surprised you haven't noticed ;)

I actually think we are a better TEAM without him - even if performances of late haven't been great, they have been no worse than when Rhodes was here.

One thing people can't ignore - we can't afford his huge wages - it is as simple as that.

That's why we highly likely won't sign a less prolific Danny Graham... Wages there's no way we can offer anything near he's currently on or offer a contract which will suffice

Perfectly summed up.

Add to that the fact that above all, the player REALLY wanted to go and wasn't busting a gut (rather a case of slowly developing one - which probably explains his slow start at Boro). It's a daft arguement. An irrelevant one that will just rumble on an on with the most tedious of 'evidence'. So daft that when he busts his knee, someone will undoubtedly say, "It's a good job we sold him because we'd be paying his wages for months and no money for replacements".

Rovers, crap with Rhodes, equally crap without. That'll do for me.

The bottom line is that Rhodes is part of our history and not our future. If, and it's a huge IF, the money we got for him is given to Lambert in the summer and spent wisely then his departure will have helped to strengthen the squad and at the end of the day it's a team game and not about an individual. Get the right players in around someone like Graham and we will be a much more dangerous outfit.

I bet Leicester fans are gutted at how many Vardy & mahrez have scored . More than the rest put together.

Like us last season with Rhodes and gestede .

And King! And we didn't get near the top six! A miracle in reverse!
