Itll be strange to see a central midfielder who can get the ball and doesn't immediately want to just give it someone else.

Those wondering about his fitness, pretty sure Big Sam runs amongst the best sports science teams there are. Obviously theres some match-fitness to catch up on, but with our run of games coming up, that shouldnt be a problem for too long.

Have a really good feeling about this signing, I do think he'll be a very good fit for the club.

Good signing. I hope all these loan players are prepared to put a shift in when things aren't going too well. We could be in for a real battle if we don't start winning some games.

if it's the same Gomez that Wigan had then he's used to a relegation fight. And he's been at Sunderland

He's a class footballer and he'll be a class footballer for us. Over the moon with this one, proper footballer and should be the sort of player to make us tick. Just hope if Lowe returns then he will return at right back and shove Marsh further forward whilst he's finding form. Gomez will lift a player like Marsh and get him going i think. Should have some quality in midfield now with Gomez, Marsh, Conway and Watt dropping deep. Tekkers.

I really like Marshall at right back, but you make a very good point about the effect Gomez could have on him if put back into the midfield.

How far away is Lowe from returning?

Just as long as he doesnt return to midfield i'm not arsed. Not sure when he'll return but surely cant be too long now.

Marshall played some lovely balls forward at Oxford.......I think he is waking up!

I think Lowe might be good foil for Gomez in midfield - Gomez isn't known for his running and harrying - and Lowe isn't known for his passing, vision and technique.

Obviously it depends on what level he is capable of after pretty much 18 months out injured - I think he made one appearance last season. Might be wrong.

PL is also the first "manager" we've had since BS so I expect to see the likes of Henley, Lowe, Hanley and others we've watched for years under "coaches", improve over time.

Could work; initially for me it has to be Akpan who covers as much ground as anyone maybe even Akpan and Evans in behind Gomez with Watt and Conway down the Flanks

Could be a Smartprice Savage and Tugay. It's gonna be interesting to find out. Just glad to have someone who can put their foot on the ball and pass it about a bit. Might not have to punt it straight it up to strikers head / chest as much now!

Talking to some Latics fans they reckon he's as soft as the proverbial and can't tackle to save his life but can pick a pass out of nothing and has an eye for goal. They reckon we've not seen passing like it, oh how I laughed at the poor deluded fools, then I remembered they would've been in division 4 or something when we had Tuguy cutting teams apart with a mere look glance of an eye.
