Why, who's next? Or who should be?

If I was employed by Rovers then I would be donning a tin hat.

According to the last published accounts, I think Rovers employed more than they did as a PL club. Commercial realities are that it simply isn't sustainable.

I have said time and time again that, IMV, Rovers are severely under managed - by that, I mean poorly managed at a senior level.

Can you get more out of fewer people - I think the answer is yes.

Looks like there is a newly found ruthlessness.

I'd imagine the bloated commercial department would be under pressure given corporate sales to date.

Might be correct that corporate sales fit into Greg Coar's job description. People on here have spoken well of him but its obviously Venkys to blame for the decline. Not that the commercial side of the club was brilliant 6 years ago in my opinion.

People still have not realised that Venkys have no love for our club?

It is but an asset to them, one they really don't want to have, have no idea how to run and have no intention to fund properly.

It is pissing money out of all the cracks and they cannot stop it, the last thing they want to do is spend more money trying to fix it.

They won't be happy nor stop messing with all aspects of the club until the figures start breaking even, if you think that means getting us promotions or hiring the right people, then sadly you are wrong. They don't care where we end up, they don't understand football and never will.

Their intentions are to re-build the club from the ground up as a business that makes a profit, that is not how football works, so we are screwed until we get new owners.

That is the obvious truth that is staring us all in the face. Stop looking for hidden meanings in everything and just face reality - Venkys haven't funded us properly from the outset and after all these years they are still scrimping and saving...

Sacking/Forcing the MD out, right after the transfer window closes.. ridiculously callous if you ask me.

"Callous" to sack Shaw? Are you frigging joklng or are you related?

There has been a lot of misplaced hysteria on this board over the last few years regarding DS. I have had dealings with him during his tenure via the Fans Forum and think a lot of the criticism is a little unfair. Some aren't happy that he is (probably still) a North End fan, but never levelled the same criticism at (Southampton fan) John Williams. What about the court case ... some wail? Well ... I still remain to be convinced that he didn't play the role of stooge ... taking a hit for the club when it was administratively in disarray. Let's face it ... he was only here in the first place because his mate (Paul Agnew) from a previous spell at Deepdale had landed a job that was well above his capabilities and needed help from somebody who had walked the walk. Sure, there are better football administrators out there ... but is that any reason to stick the boot in to somebody trying to do his job?

Fair play to you for speaking as you find.

I often thought that and have never taken part in the vitriol, but I have to admit some of the stuff he said and his general tone at the Q and A was just alarming.

You could tell he should have been nowhere near the position he was.

Generally speaking, it's 'The Peter Principle' - people get promoted until they reach their level of incompetence.

At the end of the day, with all the add ons, cost of Rovers employing Shaw would be in the region of £200k.

For that sort of cost for a Rovers' MD, I'd expect him, or her, to be pulling up trees and making a real impact. IMV, that hasn't happened.

Reading a Brighton forum after we'd played there last season and a few were chatting amongst themselves about Williams. Apparently he'd been at their table in a corporate lounge as a guest, something to do with the referees association. They said he was clearly aghast at what had gone on at Rovers.

They could do worse than call on him for advice, maybe they have who knows but he's probably past coming back now anyway.

After City he went as chief exec of the Referees Association. Discussed on here at the time.

Totally agree Tom, came over as incompetent, and backed it up with his actions surrounding not reading players and managers contracts. I have no doubt he was the courtroom stooge over Berg, but the truth is he didn't check the contract.

Please enlighten us to where you finished up after Deggsy worked his magic ? I would say back where you belonged or poss even a level above but you might feel different.

Some of you lot are very sensitive.

I know what Shaws like which is why I've enjoyed him being at your place so long.

As for our level, currently that's above you lot! :)

I have posted a few times of late that things are clearly heading in the right direction. That the club is being run much more professionally again. On and off the pitch. It's been pleasing to see improved communication, sensible decision making, further financial commitment, interaction with the community and an end to the quality drain.

The only nagging doubt amongst all that was Shaw as it beggared belief that he was ever appointed and retained. He's gone now so theres no point me twittering on, but in the interests of our football club this decision had to be taken. Make no mistake this is an important moment in the re-build and has given me even more confidence going forward.

I'm not one for celebrating other people's bad news. It's clear he's been potted. But when someone else's bad news is good news for you, or your interests, then it's hard not to chuckle a tad. More importantly it's brilliant news for the Rovers, otherwise nothing made sense.

Kean, Agnew, Shaw. Operation thick as pig @#/?.

Okay Derek, if you say so. When you got the job you'd effectively won the lottery and you know it..
