Good point in isolation but still only 3 points in 21?

Gomes sounds like the player we've been crying out for for years ,shame he's not our player, and what we've gained on the one hand we've probably lost by not having a goalscorer up top.

If we could somehow pick up someone who can find the net in the loan window could make all the difference between staying up and going down.

I think a draw against Hull would be acceptable as long as we beat Fulham and the MK Dons at Ewood. Our team has a habit of dropping points in games we need to win, though, so Hull might be a better bet for a win.

You're right that it would be acceptable if we followed it up with 3 points against Fulham. But come on DE, I was trying to be positive; I'm constantly getting told on here that I'm a pessimistic sod ;).

Rovers will beat Hull next week. 1st one down on my weekly acca that one. Lump on fellas.

Mercer?

Great result.

We've sold our 'star man' and gone to 2nd in the league and put on a real performance and really should have come away with 3 points.

I said last week at Oxford was a 'turning point' and I think I'm right.

In Lambert we trust.

Shoot that's our "resurgence" over with then.

Easy tiger! Still no wins in the last 8 league games, and our golden chance to win the game would have been taken by our former 'star man'. A good point yes, a new dawn. Not yet.

Let's see where we are come 1st March.

How can you say that after some of Rhodes' glorious misses of late. Chances are if he was in the team that sequence of play does not even happen.

Week after isn't it? Hull next at Ewood in 7 days. At some point we are going to have to get a win against the odds. These points aren't enough.

If you're a glass half full man I'd hate to see your posts after a bad defeat lol.

We are also 6 points above the drop zone with 2 games in hand and a miles better goal difference, with a side now that looks more competitive.

Get a drink down your neck Stuart, only positives to take from today's performance and point. Onwards and upwards.

I heard boro announcer said Jason Rhodes when he come on?

No wonder he didn't score then, they sent the wrong bloke on!

Sounds like we easily matched them in a very competitive performance.

Two oddball statistics- Rovers committed 7 fouls and collected 5 yellow cards.

If Boro fail to be promoted by 2 points or less, Jordi's goal lost us £4m off the Jordan Rhodes deal. We had better win at the dingles or that is going to be a significant dent in the transfer kitty.

Now there is a glass half empty classic

Some strange comments, but not surprising.

'We'll get stuffed now we've no Rhodes'.

The goalposts were here, actually no, silly me, they're meant to be HERE.

This was exactly the kind of game Rovers would usually lose. 'Boro out of form, we usually oblige and roll over to let them end their slump. We didn't, we rallied, worked hard and sounded like we were good value for a point against a team that's just bought our leading goalscorer for £9m and placed 2nd in the league.

We desperately need a win, but I feel like we'll get it when we least expect.

Excellent result, just a shame we couldn't grab all 3 and really make the headlines.

Played well, never was behind at one of the top teams in this division. I hope we can keep up that level of performance for the weaker teams as we might just smash someone in this league for once.

To be fair, anybody saying things like that clearly haven't been paying attention to Boro lately. Today was only their second goal in four games, which included losses to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest! They were there for the taking today, and our performance deserved the three points. It's just a shame our defence keeps allowing teams that one goal, which is so crucial when we score so few ourselves.

Akpan must score in that position but a good point away from home. Keep that up and win at home and we can look forward to next season.

Im not sure Rhodes will get ahead of Stuani, Kike Sola and Nugent.... and not sure Boro will go up...

Why would our star man have been playing where Akpan was?

That's stretching it a bit, we've just gone and got a point to a team that have spent £9m this week and clear favourites to be promoted.

Alone in the box? No idea. *shrugs*

Thought I mentioned it was a good point, do I need to use a bigger font size?

Btw, congrats mate.

Just trying to temper Mercerman's brand new dawn BS.

Very pleasing result, just a shame we didn't get all 3 points after what sounded like a very good performance.

Had a feeling Gomez would score, he has the ability to score some great goals and can pick a pass.

Got the impression that Lenihan had a good game, can anyone at the game confirm that? Also how did Watt and Graham get on?

Playing someone out of position in defence always eventually comes back to haunt the team in the long term no matter if they have the odd decent game. That's why if you want to prosper it has to be horses for courses except for the odd games or in game changes that force it.

Anyway a very good point and decent performance and we caught Boro at the right time. The most impatient fans in the division up there and their players seemed tense. That's expectation for you :)
