Baz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Commercially how many executive boxes are sold this season, how many people are paying for pre-match hospitality, how many people or local businesses have been approached? Rovers have a database of tens of thousands of fans, how many have they directly marketed their 3 game offer to? the database has people's data of birth on it, why not offer them 50% off any hospitality in their birthday month? Last season there was the dinner for the PL winning squad, the club could have done so much more over the course of the season to commemorate that, and bring in a bit more cash. There are so many things we don't even appear to try to do, that we could.

VinjayV4 Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 In terms of Commerce, one thing that was bandied about when Venkys took over was how they would be able to expand commercial opportunities in the Indian and Eastern markets and enhance our Global brand/exposure. Another front they've failed miserably at, other than notoriety and embarrassment they orchestrated. Don't think any club could do that after relegation (which of course was their fault) so I can see why nothing has developed on that front seemingly since 2011. They did nothing in the first year however (unless a chicken commercial and the game against that Indian side count) and Singh's title clearly wasn't in regards to global marketing. Their marketing "expertise" also could have completely wrecked a manufacturing deal with Umbro. Paul Hunt mentioned that matter in his leaked letter. I'm not sure whether its damaged their domestic business but certainly seems to have crushed their UK expansion hopes for the time being.

As lame as those initiatives were, They were more about Venkys than Rovers. As far as Venkys are concerned we are an ornament in a display cabinet, that they have to keep "signing checks" for. As for relegation affecting Commercial opportunities, I have no confidence that had we stayed in The Prem League they would have fared any better. They have neither the acumen or the passion to develop Rovers, commercially or otherwise.

I do wonder what they said to Williams/Finn about their commercial plans not that they could have prevented a sale. Finn apparently having to tell them what relegation was should have raised concerns amongst other things.

VinjayV4 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Yes, that! Presumably that was after the takeover though it could have been just prior. Either way Williams/Finn fully endorsed Venkys until Allardyce was fired. Its no secret how they felt after that of course.

Clearly its no longer a "club at war" with different factions trying to screw over each other. The club is evidently more stable now but Venkys are hardly likely to rebuild trust. It wouldn't exactly shock the world if they somehow had a major falling out with Lambert not that I'm saying there's any indication right now. Just that you can't predict what these people are capable of doing. OK there are people like Peter Coates but that's exceptionally rare. When was the last time we heard of things like the RoverStar programme? There isn't even news about Rovers on their rather uninspiring website. Unless you count the takeover story that's over 5 years old.

I've criticised this in the past and while I haven't received anything related to the three game deal or these ideas I do receive far more marketing emails than I used to. My impression is 50% relate to Roverstore and the others to tickets or season tickets.

What always amazes me is that I NEVER get emails relating to actually trying to get people to games, but seemingly weekly emails telling me about the MEGA TWENTY PER CENT OFF IN THE ROVERSTORE. Season tickets, this new 3 for £30 deal is what the mail shot email account should be used for, not informing me that the £25 hoodie is now £22.

How farcical can you get when this three game deal can't be booked online and is restricted to essentially the Riverside only (price wise). It should not just be £30 for the Riverside but for all areas of the ground. Surely, the objective is to reignite some flickering interests and passions and get a lot more bums on seats. I would have taken at least 5 seats in the JW but the folk I would take simply would not sit in either the Riverside or Blackburn End. This lot simply don't help the cause. IMV, commercially and intellectually challenged beyond belief.
Rover_Shaun Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 So Riverside is £30, Blackburn End is £39 but no mention on JW price?

The 3 Game Series is available in all stands with only the centre areas of the Jack Walker Stand excluded from the offer.
Rover_Shaun Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Is the Series available in all stands? In the past offers have been the same price everywhere (usually bar the JW upper central)

VinjayV4 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Just to note emails can be passed on FAO Myers/Cheston via LTalbot@rovers.co.uk Used to send occasional emails FAO Williams through that address.
Mattyblue Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 No mention here: http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/booker-bmw-3-game-series-2937867.aspx It's in the FAQs further down the page, but no, doesn't state the price.
Mercer Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 It's in the FAQs further down the page, but no, doesn't state the price. Just seen it having scrolled down. However, why exclude it from the main body of the advert and why exclude JW centre ? To me, just plain stupid - a lack of basic marketing skills, nous and vision.
Rover_Shaun Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 car limited to 250 miles..........I reckon whoever wins it should book a train home and leave the car 250 miles away

Season tickets, this new 3 for £30 deal is what the mail shot email account should be used for, not informing me that the £25 hoodie is now £22. If you have a season ticket, Matt, why would you want ticket offers? Not much of a 20% discount on that hoodie by the way.
Mattyblue Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'm presuming they are just a mailshot to all email addresses on file? If non ST holders are getting emails re STs/half STs or matchday offers, then great, but I doubt they are.
Mike Graham Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Bring back Ken Beamish Please don't. No no no no no.
