Yes he kept them there (unsurprisingly) but what has Allardyce ever done beyond that?

Big sam has got results at every club he's been too. Newcastle is possibly a blip but considering their fans, it's not suprising. Surviving for us, promotion and survival for Bolton and West ham are all big achievements.

His teams rarely produce stunning football or gung-ho tactics. They've consistently given results though. If he ever had a "big" job for a decent time - I think he's likely win trophies too.

Yeah I feel sorry for Jack having a son like your mate Howard.

Allardyce very complimentary of Bilic too.

I see. According to you Sam is a non-achiever but you are happy to use his views to support your's.

Not sure what you are on about anyway, are you saying we should have signed Bilic as manager? When?

No I simply said on the previous page that some Rovers fans suggested Bilic in 2008. Actually I wanted Ten Cate at the time but wasn't exactly opposed to Bilic at all. Never said Allardyce is a bad manager either just that Rovers could have done better (obviously not meaning Steve Kean) and West Ham fans aren't regretting their similar viewpoint.

This is from Kamy on twitter...

Looking at the Met Office weather warning, huge amount of rain to fall in Blackburn over next 48 hours, must put game in doubt tomorrow.

There really is no excuse for Rovers fans not to turn out tomorrow.

Unfortunately the track record of support at Ewood since the early 1960's bar the Walker era has been very poor.

Even Oxford are likely to have had more home supporters v Rovers than we will get watching WHU tomorrow.

A poor show and a lack of commitment if we get anything less than 20000 home fans.

West Ham are playing some great football and have there best team in years.

You have a point, I suppose, but, in all honesty, you do have to ask why.

I seem to remember repeated research has shown that when fans break the regular match going habit, the break is all too often permanent. I know I am often on my high horse about the fan blame thing, but even amongst my own family and friends I can name 24 people, who used to go regularly and have all been lost to this club.

Back to my original question, what has happened in the last 5 years to bring this about ?

Just the way Rovers fans generally are when it comes to cup ties (Liverpool being the exception).

Remember the Villa semi-final in 2010? The first leg at Ewood had 18000 on with a big Villa following, Milwall quarter final, Man City a couple of years back etc. etc.

Very simple, plenty of season ticket holders just don't bother and as we don't have the extra fans to replace them, the gate suffers.

How about a dirth of goals at home this season as an excuse?

How about the lack of enjoyment and entertainment from many home games this season?

You'd think we were top of the league and playing sexy football listening to some of you lot trying to have a pop at the stay always. It's another fa cup game against a premier league side. It's not a champions league semi final FFS.

I also think results and performances play a part ... I'm sure had we continued with the form we showed right at the beginning of PL's reign and we were in a play off spot (or better) we would quite easily get 25k for this game

Circumstances not too dissimilar to the Liverpool match when it was sold out. It would be interesting if we did get to Wembley how many tickets we could sell.
