We're probably not at that stage, but if his latest public plea to Venkys is met with further silence we'll be lucky if he makes the end of the season.

If he isn't seen in the next two weeks it's game over IMO. He may not walk right away, but I think he'll be gone in the summer if they don't engage very soon.

It can't be good for PL or the team's morale, either way.

Just reading through the thread you'd actually think we gave a sh1t about PNE, Abbey and few Leyland blues aside, they mean nothing to the vast majority of us, just another game really.

I see every man and his dog from the PNE perspective are talking about this MASSIVE 7000 following, is that such a big deal? it probably is in reality because nothing of significance has happened to PNE since Tom Finney was dancing down the wings, so taking 7000 fans 10 miles down the road is a big deal for them.

I went to the game at deepdale earlier in the season, the home support was embarrassing, especially those 30 or so in the singing section in that half built stand. The away support was decent, nothing spectacular, just decent because the majority of fans couldn't care less about PNE, its just another game.

I hope we win on Saturday, but if we don't I'll be losing no sleep over it, like I'd lose no sleep if we lost to Charlton or Brighton, its only Preston, we don't care about them.

Obviously Burnley are our Official Arch Rivals.

But if you do live towards Chorley, South Ribble (or work with North Enders, like me!) then they really do get up your nose.

Before working with them, I was like you GAV, akin to Wigan- close game, good excuse for a drink, that's about it.

Lamberts put the away following stuff to bed really by saying we'd have taken that many there if it was available and you'd expect them to bring that kind of following 10 miles up the road. Especially seeing as a lot will never have been to Ewood given the scarcity of the fixture so it's no big deal at all. We've seen teams come with huge followings down the years and the weight of it seems to pressure them rather than inspire.

On to the game I think we'll be on the money and Lambo will have them fired up and as usual get ourselves infront and we'll be ok.

Rovers 2 PKE 1

Marshall, Watt Some little ginger @#/? for them.

Preston rank in my mind on a similar level as Wigan and Blackpool. A local derby which I obviously want us to win, but on a different level completely to Burnley and less fierce than Bolton. Losing to Preston wouldn't be pleasant but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. That's probably due to the incredibly low number of times we have crossed paths in recent years owing to our complete and utter domination. No doubt if we grow accustomed to playing each other every year it might grow in importance and relevance.

Yes Matty I can certainly understand the working angle, its bound to bring more intensity to the game.

In some ways it must be good fun working with PNE fans as they've not had any success since the invention of color TV's!

"Before Jack Walkers loot they were no better than us for years"

Not quite true buster seeing as we managed to remain a division or two higher for over a decade before that loot. Wasn't it only Baxi and their money that rescued them from disappearing anyway ? Surely not many clubs had that kind of sponsorship down in the low divisions back in the day.

They also seem to miss the fact one of Hemmings companies has been underwriting their losses for years and again not many in league 1 would be fortunate enough for that kind of backing. That won't last forever either boys !

Preston occupied the 3rd and 4th division for years before Jack came along in my memory serves me correctly?

We hardly pulled up any trees in the 80's but 2nd division was the lowest we went, so thats just bunkum.

We were pushing for the play offs for many seasons during the 80's, just ask Scott Sellars - he had the record for most play off appearances when we finally went up.

As for attendances  anyone else at Goodison for the mid 80's cup tie when we took 11,500?

Or Brunton Park, 2nd Div, Sunday before Christmas, when we took 6,000?

Or the Victoria Ground, 2nd Div, when we took 8,000?

Or Gigg Lane, 3rd Div, when we took 10,000 on a Tuesday night?

Big regret, I never went :(

I always wanted to see us at Everton, that small away end always looked great when full, good fun, so why I never went I have no idea.

When we went up I can never recall standing at Everton either? was that because I never went or had it been closed for safety by then?

Last game for the Park End terrace was 19.01.94.

I remember being in the seats above the terrace for a night match, but never on the terrace itself, maybe that had been shut which is why I was in the seats.

Strange things terraces, right look forward to the FA Cup draw in case we get a lower league side where we can stand up, couldn't make the Newport game sadly, but heres hoping for next season.

Went to Manx cup games at deepdale in 80's, seem to recall the covered away end was wooden under foot, same at Bury, just to keep on topic, sort of!

I worked in Preston for 10 years and never once cared a jot about Preston nor noticed a hatred for us, then again they were light years away from us for most of that time.

Have a soft spot for Preston given family connections with the place so for me, this is just another Championship game.

Sadly, I think they are going to do us by the odd goal to round off a miserable week for Rovers' fans. Sadly, I really fear the cracks appearing in key things Rovers are about to become chasms.
