ABBEY Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I worked in Preston for 10 years and never once cared a jot about Preston nor noticed a hatred for us, then again they were light years away from us for most of that time.Worked ? Pmsl

Ewood Spark Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Obviously Burnley are our Official Arch Rivals. Excellent .... mentioning that lot gives me an excuse to post this :- http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lancashire-35936315
tomphil Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I remember being in the seats above the terrace for a night match, but never on the terrace itself, maybe that had been shut which is why I was in the seats. Strange things terraces, right look forward to the FA Cup draw in case we get a lower league side where we can stand up, couldn't make the Newport game sadly, but heres hoping for next season. Went to Manx cup games at deepdale in 80's, seem to recall the covered away end was wooden under foot, same at Bury, just to keep on topic, sort of! Been to all the pre season games at Deepdale between us going back to the Lancs/Manx cup thing and every single one there has been more of us or at least the same as them in attendance. Never much sign of any aggro either so the big rivalry must have passed them by on those occasions. Maybe it's only really the fact they are doing quite well at the min that has prompted such anticipation amongst them. I think if the roles were reversed they wouldn't be half as keen

perthblue02 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Notice on the Preston Fans Forum twitter account one of the pubs they recommend is the Navi, can't see that ending well

Agreed about the hatred. Lived in Preston all my life and work a stones throw away from Weepdale. Felt a bit sorry for their fans over time as they have struggled. Quoting a few idiots giving it large as representative of their club is inaccurate of course. I know more North End fans than Rovers fans. Very little difference across the North West clubs in terms of support as we all delve into the same catchment area. Rovers 2 North End 0. COYB.

Husky Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Jack Walker Lower for me. Just to be within crossbow range............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzP1XC51kro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SU4vD1T4oI Thousands of inbreds are coming.......be afraid, be very afraid.
Hasta Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It's the day before the game and, despite being busy on the messageboard this aft, there has not been a post on this thread for 4 hours. Meanwhile, over on PNobE-online, they've just started their 13th thread on the game. It's a cup final for one side !
Stuart Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Perversely, Preston could still make the play-offs yet this is a nothing game for us. It barely even qualified as a derby. About as much as Wigan anyway, and much less interesting than Bolton. If we lose tomorrow it'll be like losing to Charlton or Huddersfield. If we win, it'll be just another win under Lambert. Just glad to have a game to talk about.
garnersfags Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, eerily quiet on here, and barely a comment on the actual match over 19 pages. How many have we sold for the empty 3 ends compared to the Leeds game? Maybe a few more ST holders will turn up? Hoping the Darwen-enders will populate the Riverside & JW end sections but there was little evidence of that against Leeds. Can't believe this will be anything but a home win, despite the positions and stats. Interested to see how they have managed to improve so much since our visit to Deepdale as we were 2 very average sides that day. 3 - 1, Rovers.

Mike Graham Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 On my way back on the train up to Preston. I understand there is little interest in this game in Blackburn. The season is over and we are safe.
BlueMonday Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 With the international break, everyone should be fresh and injury free. My Team Steele Marshall Ward Duffy Spurr Akpan Bennett Lenihan Gomez Graham Watt Subs: Eastwood, Kilgallon, Conway, Grimes, Evans, Jackson,
chaddyrovers Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Going for 2 nil Rovers win. Graham and Watt to score
Husky Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Not a derby? WTF??? This is our ONLY Lancashire derby isn't it? As Bolton is in Manchester and Burnley is in Yorkshire. This is the one. Looking forward to meeting some friendly Lancashire folk in The Postal Order early morning.
bob fleming Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Can't believe we're starting pre-season and our first Lancs Cup game this early. The games on its arse.
Gav Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Anyone know if you can buy home tickets tomorrow morning if you're on the database?
Stuart Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Much less interesting than Bolton? Bolton stopped being an interesting derby in about 2001. The prosecution rests.
McClarky Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 As much as people try and say we don't care about preston and it isn't a big game, of course it's a big game. Preston is 10 miles up the road and they're bringing a big support. it's not Burnley but it's the next biggest thing. Looking forward to it...... apart from having to get the train over at 11.00 with all the nobbers.
den Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 For all of us this side of Burnley, it's bigger. *sorry, I meant this side of Blackburn.
Ewood Spark Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I was there last time they beat us in a league game at Ewood ... 24th March 1979. I was still at school then. I've worked over that way since 1982 ... and in all that time they have been in our shadow. Let's keep the status quo tomorrow.
