Why bark yourself when you have a dog?

Billy Bragg tweeted yesterday:

Not everyone that voted leave is racist, but all racists will vote to leave.

I've a lot time for Billy, but not sure I agree with that, or it helps the debate.

The same all for democracy Billy Brag that was telling people not to vote?

It's a bit melodramatic is that!

I know it is not a good place to judge but from social media it seems like remain shouting loudest especially from the under 30's, although when they follow it up with "because they wont allow us in eurovision" you have got to smile

It was a similar scenario with the Scottish independence referendum. If you formulated your prediction on what was being posted on social media it would have been on a landslide 'yes' vote.

He's not banned, why didn't he post that himself? Not like him to be shy! ;)

You know why

Bunkum

;)

I think he has to acknowledge the ban. I don't think he will do that.

Exactly right

I think remain will comfortably win. I think it is like the silent conservative vote in the last general election.

It won't be comfortable as the result will be close I think, what the EU does next will be crucial.

What a tosser Billy Bragg is! It's the equivalent of the 'Muslims are terrorists' or 'White people are racists'.

Nothing but an attempt to divide people rather than unite. Pillock.

There's a lot of folk who don't believe they're racist, but who in fact are. A lot.

Remain 56%

Leave 44%

Its never been in doubt as far as I'm concerned, this despite an embarrassing campaign by remain.

The vast majority of modern day politicians are a waste of space, no principles, no morals, just lies lies and more lies.

Boris is probably more in than out and Cameron is probably more out than in, but both are playing politics and voting opposite to where their hearts really tell them

Load of old bunkum.

Thats what ive noticed, remain are the most vocal online, but out and about near me leave seems pretty unanimous and there's signs for it all over the place.

A few things concern me:

- Polling companies got it spectacularly wrong last year. They should have fixed this but you never know.

- Turnout appears to be high in a lot of areas if reports are true. Is this passionate leavers (mostly the grey vote that always turns out for elections) or is it like in the Scotland referendum people are rushing out to remain? Youth vote and the Labour vote is especially important if Remain are to win, both can be tricky groups to get the vote out for.

- Weather is expected to get worse this evening in some areas especially in the south. Could put off a lot of people to vote after work.

I wish I was confident as some but I think it will be closer than people think.

I'll go with:

Remain 53%

Leave 47%

I know the weather is a factor Ribble, but you have to ask yourself how much does a vote really mean if people won't go out in the rain/cold to vote.

Seen some of the pictures of London? It's like a monsoon there in some parts, flooding has closed some of the polling stations and they have had to be moved. Will the youth go out in that?

I would hazard an educated guess that in the traditional working class Labour strongholds in England (like Blackburn) a majority will be in the leave camp as will the grey vote.

Regarding the above this is more imo to do with the failings and not heeding or addressing warnings and complaints from their usual core support, and yes migration will be the big bone of contention, unfortunately turning round and calling these people bigots and racists and failing to engage with concerns harbours resentment. I would think the grey vote would depend on how they view what they were sold 40 odd years ago and can they trust what they are being sold now.

Younger voters I would expect to be in the remain camp

Regardless what you think of Farage, has one person ever turned traditional party politics on their head like we are seeing ? and is that a bad thing?

Every bit of polling breakdown I've seen strongly suggests that's the case, but youth voters are the most unreliable when it comes to actually voting. Maybe this time it's different as this decision is going to affect the younger generation far more.

Stock market and sterling rose strongly today - markets scent a Remain victory

I noticed this today, BT shareprice dropped from £4.30 to £3.97 last week due to uncertainty, it closed today at just shy of £4.40 up 10p today.

There seems to be confidence somewhere of a Remain vote
