perthblue02 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Sunderland vote leave - 51.930 remain, 82,394 Leave 39 -61% , That is a big margain booom well done sunderland p.s. who are the idiots that go out and vote then have their ballot cards voided due to idiocy like ticking both or no boxes? Maybe people who can not make their minds up but still want to take part in the democratic process, or maybe just the confused. Must admit I did it once, wrote non of the above under the two choices , but that was more to do with the disdain in which I held the two candidates.
Baz Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Be interesting to see if the results are far more regionalist than age-ist as the predictions seem to have been based on. p.s. who are the idiots that go out and vote then have their ballot cards voided due to idiocy like ticking both or no boxes? Far better than those who don't vote, then complain about the outcome.
T J Hooker Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Sunderland vote leave - 51.930 remain, 82,394 Leave 39 -61% , That is a big margain Maybe people who can not make their minds up but still want to take part in the democratic process, or maybe just the confused the ballot card couldn't be simpler and there's always friendly staff on hand to help(or at least there is where i vote) and if you cant decide by the time your in the voting booth then just turn around and go home without voting and don't waste peoples time.
dave birch Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Must admit I did it once, wrote non of the above under the two choices. That's a way of getting your point across. A lot of people did that in An Australian general election in the early 80's by writing "No Dams" across their ballot paper. The informal vote count skyrocketed that time and caused the government to stop building the Gordon/Franklin dam in Tassie
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Pound has just fallen off a cliff. Its going to get much much worse in the coming days.
gumboots Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Remain - 54 Leave - 46 You want to revise that prediction dan?
Backroom Mike E Posted June 23, 2016 Backroom Posted June 23, 2016 I do think there should be an 'I abstain' option on ballot slips so that you can legitimately register a dislike of the options.

T J Hooker Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 I do think there should be an 'I abstain' option on ballot slips so that you can legitimately register a dislike of the options. that should be an option, it would separate the idiots that cant even figure out how to tick a box from the people that aren't voting out of a kind of protest
jim mk2 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Pound has just fallen off a cliff. Its going to get much much worse in the coming days. Shares will go through the floor tomorrow if Leave wins. Could be another Black Friday
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Pound dropped 6% in 15 mins... Oh dear. Well if Leave wins maybe all pounds will convert into pure energy and annhilate the planet. Or maybe the markets will fall and then after a bit go back up again. Just like if Remain wins they'll go up for a bit, then go back down again. Anyone expecting a government-promised disaster is going to be left thinking what a big fuss about nothing a year from now.
Gav Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Shares will go through the floor tomorrow if Leave wins. Could be another Black Friday Long way to go yet, I think pundits are getting carried away by comparing it to election night when in reality it's quite different. Still rowing on BBC, Angela Eagle, will they never learn?
jim mk2 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Angela Eagle makes a good point - people blaming the EU for problems caused by Conservative austerity policies.
Gav Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Angela Eagle makes a good point - people blaming the EU for problems caused by Conservative austerity policies. Still bloody bickering though Jim, it's been tedious.
T J Hooker Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 come on jim, not tonight, this isnt about the government parties. (though sadly a lot of weak voters that cant think for themselves have just been voting for who their prefered party leaders are telling them to)
perthblue02 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Angela Eagle makes a good point - people blaming the EU for problems caused by Conservative austerity policies. Yes but skirting over Labour not listening to their traditional voters for years. Of course the Cameron equation played a big part , somebody already screwing you telling you what to do, never goes down well with people Swindon 55 -45% Leave.
Backroom Tom Posted June 24, 2016 Backroom Posted June 24, 2016 Looks like we may need to look to London for help!
Veevs Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (though sadly a lot of weak voters that cant think for themselves have just been voting for who their prefered party leaders are telling them to) ? But all the party leaders wanted remain.. bar Farage Agree it is not about gov parties, I just had to listen to bloomin miliband ranting about that lark over and over.
jim mk2 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Speculation that London will be 70-80% Remain. One benefit of a Leave vote - the rest of the country can cast London adrift and parliament can be shifted north. Swindon votes Leave
Gav Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Swindon more like what was expected before the counting started. London turnout potentially lower than expected which is bad for remain.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 The weather may play a huge part in London and its turnout.
Guest Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 The people of Sunderland thought they were voting to leave Sunderland.
