Can't see it - snow was bad when I left for work but suspect it will clear for morning. From a ground perspective we have all sorts of modern gadgets to keep it in good shape (you know, shovels and forks).

Seriously though, can't see any issues with the pitch but if roads didn't improve maybe they'd call it off for 'elf and safety.

Quickly before I go back into self imposed posting exile - should be a decent game tomorrow, probably close in terms of score. We need the win for the points more than the derby side of things but it would be nice to do the double - or at least keep the not losing run going. If pushed I'll back us for a close win 2-1.

Your lot get the sheep s-hit of the pitch before every home game so a bit of snow shouldn't be a problem............expect for those using forks to clear snow!

Why as a Rovers, or indeed a Burnley fan, do I find myself being discriminated against by our local Police? I am a football fan, 46yrs of following my beloved BRFC, home and away, into Europe and not on any one of those occasions have I ever felt the need to use or condone any sort of violence against another fellow football supporter. So, why then, does this current regime seem fit to spoil the game for the good mannered fans by imposing rigid and draconian measures on supporters of both clubs and therefore ruining the spectacle of a local derby?

For the first time since I was born a blue, I am missing a Rovers v Burnley match, its not because of the cost, its not because they are above us in the league, its not because its at the "turf" it is simply because I would be forced onto a bus, to be horded like a criminal in convoy along with 2399 other souls for the shortest of journeys into the neighbouring town. The fans then have to enjoy a barricaded scenario, something that we see in Beirut, and are treated like animals as the fans are penned into what is quite simply, the most shocking areas of any football ground that I have had to encounter. A stench filled space that is overcrowded, in a poor state of repair and which seems fit only for the local rats. At then end of the game, the away supporters are again horded into buses behind the barricades and are then set in convoy for the short journey back to Blackburn and probably via North Yorkshire at that. What it really means is this. a 15 minute journey taking and hour and a half at best, your basic human rights being abused by the local authority, your right to free movement being prevented by state policing and you being forced to pay for the privilege of it.

These are the reasons why I am not going (unless I get lucky with a private invite into the players area again).

There is no finer game, a local Rovers v Burnley football match, yes its spiteful, hateful, full of banter, loud, aggressive and it will attract a moronic few. BUT games like this happen all over the country and YET the fans of those clubs are NEVER treated in such a disrespectful manner as we, fans of Rovers and Burnley, are. There is NO police force that would seek to instill such uncalled for force upon fans of two football teams YET Lancashire police have done it once again. This is a major factor that is killing the fervour for this game and others before it and for others in the future. Gone are the 26000 PLUS crowds for this game and those figures will never return, gone is the pre week build up to the game, it hasn't been hardly mentioned in the press until this last night and this morning.

I ask myself, and like many others are, why are we putting up with these measures? Why don't we all pool together and send the bus fare bill to Lancashire Police for them to pay, after all, they have made the order? Why are we not seeing both clubs campaigning on behalf of their own fans? No one has any right to restrict your movement, both before or after the game. This is not a state controlled police area, there are no NO GO zones and there is no law or by law that says you cant go anywhere near Burnley on Saturday if you haven't got a ticket for the game?

I feel so sad that my views as above have prevented me from going to the game, why should I and others be treated this way? Stock answer is we shouldn't and its time for the football supporters, real fans who want to watch football, to ask to be respected and not treated like animals.

Back to the game, in reality it all points to another Burnley win. Yes they are on a roll, they have a good record, they have firepower and they will have the fans on their side. So will we, albeit only 2400 instead of the usual 4000! Rovers have the ability to win, they have the ability and players to take the game to Burnley like they did v Boro and man to a man, Rovers have, in my opinion, better and skilful players. BUT, this is the biggest derby, The L'anclassico. Form goes out of the window, its about who copes better on the day.

I would happily take a draw and a win would really make my weekend. PL and co have to use the siege mentality that is clearly becoming evident with the squad. The midfield is where the game will be won. Barton on is day can work wonders and for me he is the real danger. Up front they have Gray and Vokes, I am sure Hanley and Duffy can control both but it is about cutting off the supply line. Rovers need to go for the jugular from the off, get in front and then let Burnley think about it, They almost came unstuck against a woeful Bolton side and got lucky in the end and it is something Rovers can capitalise on.

For those going enjoy, keep safe and hopefully bring 3 points back into the sunny part of East Lancs.

totally agree about the state of affairs now regarding transport. I live in Skipton and I am just not going to drive past Burnley several hours before kick off to come back to the ground and then after the game get transported back in the wrong direction. Its very annoying and I just don't get why it is different to any other games in the country in terms of disorder potential - other police forces manage so should our lot! Really miss the atmosphere but i think we need to make a stand. So will be watching at home with the kids - 3 up and coming young Rovers fans (Burnley fans next door on both sides so that could be interesting!) COYB

I'm not trying to downplay the derby, I'm merely pointing out that it isn't notoriously violent compared to some of the other famous rivalries in English football, and therefore questioning why both sets of supporters are being singled out for 'special' treatment.

If you weren't so truculent maybe you would've got that point.

You said intense originally, not violent, I would say it is the most intense derby in existence, ask Jason Mac Ateer

we went bubble free pre season in the Lancashire cup. Two of us in my mini metro van and we parked across from the ground and it got wrecked by dingles wielding cricket bats and I had to drive down the footpath to get away. Last time we shared ends at burnley seats flew and cups of crap . Aye no trouble. You know best 300 miles away ,you need to differentiate between intense and violent. its both if allowed .

Not violent Amo? My experiences over the years before the bussing-in measures were brought in, are of a lot of violence. There was fighting in the pubs, cars being attacked down the main road in Burnley, train stations being particularly dangerous areas. Stand roofs being damaged and toilets being trashed. It used to be a scary situation if you were walking to the game and you were recognised as the enemy.

As much as 1864 has made out a good case against police control, if the fans were to meet eye to eye there would undoubtedly be fighting in my opinion.

Thinking about it, if I was a father, I'm not sure I'd be too comfortable taking my kids to a Derby if the measures were slacked off, even though we are past the era of firms and whatnot. I think that after having these arrangements in place in recent years, it's sort of hyped up the idea of violence occurring if fans were to meet to the point that if they were relaxed suddenly, there would almost certainly be some idiots out to cause trouble.

In that respect I think the travel measures have been counter-productive but there are definitely some benefits.

Unfortunately - without inside knowledge - I think many fans of other clubs would agree.

I look at it slightly differently - of course they are favourites as they are top of the league and we are near the bottom. However, as far as I can see, a lot of Burnley's wins are due to good game management rather than exceptional play. In the heat of a derby match that can go out of the window.

Comparing the teams, player for player, I don't think there is a huge difference - we have finally started to show a bit of form under PL - with good performances matching results.

My main concern is the number of games we have played recently - ideally we need to score first to keep morale and energy levels up.

I know I've asked before, but what pubs in Blackburn will be open for a few beers on the morning of the game? Blues doesn't serve til 10, same for the Postal Order.

A few of us are of down Accy at 9am

I'd go there but I'd need to be back in Blackburn by the time the coaches leave. Does anyone know if the Brown Cow open? Or the Fox and Hounds? Wary those 2 pubs may be limited to people using their coaches.

I'd be surprised if the Fox isn't open early. You could always ring them? 01254 671497

Crack me up Nobbers and Dingles, they pretend they've got a bit of tasty rivalry but they all join hands together and skip down the street when it comes to Rovers. Bitterness & jealousy is still alive and well in Trumpton City and the town that time forgot :P

Just thought I'd change the subject slightly.

I bought a programme for tomorrow's game from Burnley today to avoid the queues tomorrow. 2500 people all arriving at the ground at once and being herded through 6 turnstiles means it can be difficult to get a programme if you're on one of the later buses.

I've just had a quick skim through it and couldn't help but notice that a certain Walkersteel have a box at Turf Moor and are proudly named in the Burnley programme along with their other sponsors.

Anyone else find this to be an absolute disgrace? I don't know who owns/runs that company these days, I was under the impression that Howard Walker still had some involvement, but to use the name of Jack Walker's company and to support Burnley has to be one of the worst things I have ever known. They might as well hop on a flight to Jersey and p1ss on his grave. I wonder if their guests take part in the 'Jack Walker is dead' song that the rest of the scum sing at Turf Moor.

By the way, they don't go to the trouble of owning a box at Ewood Park or to my knowledge contribute to any sort of sponsorship at all to do with Rovers.

I think HW resigned his directorship a few years back, not long before the takeover ;)

No idea if he's anything to do with it now but I would imagine a lot of staff there are dingles so maybe that has something to do with it. Rather embarrassing though unless they've just hired it for this game ?

You must be delighted with the way the season has gone. Burnley were very impressive at Ewood (though we were the better team on the day and should have won) because Dyche has made you into a team that is hard to beat and knows how to win games when you're not playing well.

Really, I didn't think they played very well at all. Especially with our weak squad at the time. They've played against us a lot better than that and not won.

Just to reiterate but that's a great post 1864. I am not going for the same reasons. I missed the last one at the turf for the same reasons, and will refuse to go until these ridiculous measures end.

I remember boarding the bus the last time I went 3 seasons ago, police scrutinising everybody who boarded for alcohol intake, 1 1/2 hour journey around the outbacks, forced into the worst concourse not fit for purpose, couldn't get anywhere near the bar etc.

I also remember in 2010 there was nearly a crush in the concourse and the police allowed us to take beer into the stand to watch the game.

This season I have put the mileage in with trips to MK Dons, Oxford, Newport etc. It is a sad state of affairs when don't feel I can travel 10 miles to Burnley. It really annoys me that the authorities are getting away with it.

I just find the draconian measures to be counter productive. Many seasoned and well behaved away game attenders like myself refuse to go, resulting in tickets sales being slow and them being put on general sale. Now any moron can go!

Anyway fair play to those who are going. I will be watching it in the Bridgewater in Darwen. I hope one day both Rovers and Burnley fans can coordinate something to get rid of these stupid measures.

I know I've asked before, but what pubs in Blackburn will be open for a few beers on the morning of the game? Blues doesn't serve til 10, same for the Postal Order.

Old Chapel wetherspoons in Darwen serves at 9. It is 2 and a half miles from Ewood. Taxi rank next door.

Fair comment although coach travel would still available for those who wanted it and would still be escorted from the motorway in and out of both towns. That's standard practise for any game when there are more than a couple of coaches expected. Knowing Rovers support most would choose that option anyway.

All the rest of it would mean is the police would have to have a presence at the train stations , town centres and particularly outside the grounds. They will anyway just in case but it would just have to be bigger although in the grand scheme of things I doubt there'd be any more officers on duty than there are now, they'd just have to actually DO something.

I saw them play Burnley back in October, and if a departed unnamed striker had scored half the chances he had, then Rovers would have won easily. Rovers are a much better side now. Burnley have something to play for. A tough game.

Burnley 2 v 3 Rovers

I'm getting sick of the bus situation especially going to turd for u21 semi final with zero trouble. But it finally broke my mate who lives in Burnley as his Mrs works at the hospital. So for him it's always been drive from Burnley to blackburn, get bused back to Burnley, after being kept inside the ground for a good while get escorted past his front door back to Blackburn and then drive back to Burnley. It's an all day of a job.

Anyway bus palaver aside I'm oddly confident for some reason. No logic to that. At half time vs MK Dons I was saying the dingles could give us a 2-0 head start and we wouldn't win but after turning that game around and decent showing vs boro why not turn them over.
