Showing two truths-

Any team can beat any other team in this division, and

This is a squad fundamentally inadequate for putting an automatic promotion challenge together.

Lambert has worked well with what he has got and been able to bring in within the FFP rules but wholesale improvements all over the field are needed.

We've been poor today I think, Leeds have taken their chances, though quite what Lenihan was thinking in opening up such a gap for their second goal, I'll never know! Swings and roundabouts I guess, we wouldn't have expected to beat 'Boro, then we're losing 2 -0 here to a team the league suggests we should be matching...

Oh well, on to the next one.

Worst referee I've seen in some time. Then again we deserved little. An unimaginative display where we just hoofed it and hoped. If Bennett was Man of the match then I'd like to see him have a real good game as he was poor. However, Gomez was the worst. Followed by Spurr. 2 players who shouldn't be in our plans if we want to progress

I dont blame the back 4 or the forwards today... The midfeld (Bennett aside) were @#/? poor, didnt control the game, didnt do anything going forward and didnt protect the back 4. Perhaps i'd also blame whoever lost their man for that forst goal. Didnt think Watt looked that unfit coming off and he seemed a bit @#/? off to be subbed. Fair do's to jackson who gave us something different abd got himself a goal. Thought Lennihan and Gomez were particularly poor today, play passed them by and cost us the game.

As good as Steeles first half save was that second goal was shocking the lad must have knocked it twenty yards ahead it would have been an easy claim

Let's not panic though we've effectively just lost our game in hand at least for a few minutes

That's the issue - Steele has the potential to be a good one but there's always a mistake there. I have no idea how that 2nd goal went in, really poor

We need to dust ourselves down and go again, fell short of our recent standards today as I'm sure Lambert will acknowledge.

My main problem with the current assortment of loanees, short term signings and deadbeats currently sporting the blue and white halves is that I assume very few of them if any will be here next season so from that point of view the remainder of the season is fairly pointless.

I fail to see where the continuity and long term planning is which will enable us to hit the ground running next season. We'll probably be starting more or less from scratch again and it may take time to gel. That process should be well underway this season with tweaking rather than wholesale change necessary in summer.

I'd have to disagree. Bennet was shocking today. Between him and Marshall every cross hit the defender next to them. 90% of his corners couldn't beat the first man.

Overall though there was lot of effort but we were poor. Lots of long balls and Leeds had an easy day. They were the much better team second half and it was a fair result

Gomez is one player who doesn't deserve a place in the team. Doesn't do enough for me in effort and never looks like hes making up for it in skill

Of course its bumkum Gav because you dont agree. You've not understood my point either, what I said was that since Venkys took over a big part of the fan base has disbanded and broken up and it's hurt the support. I dont disagree that we've had some great support at Ewood but that's so long ago now and something needs to change. Supporters like myself want to feel part of something and at the moment it just feels like i'm turning up and watching my football team but i dont feel part of a community of passionate supporter. If you'd rather things amble along then fair enough, we'll just agree to disagree.

I admire your enthusiasm, you sound like me 15yrs ago.

These things go in cycles, we had a drummer and fans jumping around and the fanbase hated it, embarrassing was the cry, not by me a hasten to add as at least the drummer was trying to generate atmosphere.

Anyway don't let me put you off, you crack on, hope it works.

Well it happens. Can't comment about overall play but from on here and other text reports both goals were partial errors, we missed a fair few chances and perhaps lost a little belief.

No biggy - on to the next game with at least 6 points and better gd between us and doom...

any trouble anywhere? I saw 20-30 Leeds yoofs being escorted down by as many police - they all looked about 14! Then saw someone get carted out of the jack walker by the police, heard there were police rushing to Bolton road after the game so wondered if it had kicked off a bit

The drummer today was odd. Was near him in N05 and he kept letting the kids near him drum. Also, him and the kids kept just randomly drumming with no tune - like a drum with tourettes!

It occasionally helped start chants, but the vast majority of loud singing was fan led - the drumming was often met with a half hearted 'Rovers!'.

Didn't see anything on Bolton Rd but I did see about four screaming police vehicles heading along there under Darwen St bridge. I presumed that they were heading to the train station or Postal Order.

Anyway glad that's the end of the extreme run of home games, been some crackers in there and 4 wins out of 5 home games is great but happy for the break now!

Beaten by the stronger team today and we looked a little off the pace, dare I say tired.

The 442 system let us down IMO as we were overpowered in midfield.

Another quiet game for Gomez, and Watt didn't see much of the ball.

We are still weak on our left, Grimes probably should have started.

Second goal looked poor from the BBE as Lenihan seemed to make the wrong decision by not running towards the man with the ball.

Never mind, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Onwards and upwards.

Watch the replay on the highlights tonight, whilst Steele was slow to react, Lenihan made it far too easy by not closing him down.
