Regarding Brown, Chris Sutton summed it up politely on Radio Lancs, "He hasn't scored in 37 games and he won't score because he doesn't get in the right positions."

I wonder how many shots Browny has got away in those 37 games, nevermind goals. And for a target man he is utterly useless when it comes to fashioning chances for others as well. Signing a quality striker is essential in summer. Graham and Watt are good players but we need a goalscorer to help us grab points when we don't deserve it.

I'd love to see half this squad released in summer. The likes of Brown, Spurr and Akpants don't deserve the wages they get here. Angers me how we've helped make these plodders rich. They're League One at best.

Funny you weren't saying this last season when your mate was in charge. Some people

In fairness to Parson I remember him saying exactly that about the ability of the squad on a few occasions.

Graham, Watt, Marshall, Gomez and Lenihan - key players all rested due to the fixture congestion. That was bound to affect the performance. Lambert labelled the performance as rotten. Next............

Browny's record of no goals in 37 games has to be some sort of English record for a striker, surely?

Brown actually appeared to be at the head of the midfield diamond last night for periods. He was rarely in the box let alone in a position to have a shot. Jackson meanwhile was a lone striker up front chasing lost causes and dealing with hoofed passes which he didn't have a hope in hell of doing anything with.

Lenihan played in the second forty-five when the game was still 0-0. He came on for Evans - who put in a better performance, although the team as a whole were somehow worse in the second half than the first.

We needed Graham on the pitch last night. I daresay if he'd been playing we would have gone a goal up in the first fifteen minutes which would have changed the entire game. Alas it wasn't to be.

Regarding people posting about Sutton's comments criticizing Lamberts system. It appears Lambert has a set system and it is up to all the players in the squad to prove they can play to that system. As there is no chance we are getting promoted i think he's testing all his players to see who fits in to his plans and who doesn't. Sorting the wheat from the chaff. Teams that get promoted are consistent in the way they play. Consistency breeds confidence. It's clear that there are quite a few players in the squad that don't cut the mustard but Lambert can't be blamed for playing these peripheral players given the congested fixtures of late. Whilst I hate seeing us lose the silver lining for me is that as long as we don't get relegated these loses further strengthen Lamberts argument that the squad needs a major overhaul and rather this be blatantly obvious now as opposed to a few weeks into the new season.

Very good post.

A manager HAS to fit players into the right tactics, rather than the other way round. No good assembling a squad of players who then go about trying to win games in the wrong way.

I remember posting after the PNE game saying that I hoped Lambert didn't change how he wanted to play the game, in order to fit in certain individuals. It was obvious that there were players who couldn't play the way he wanted. Thankfully he hasn't done that and he won't do that.

Oh come on the exact criticisms aimed at Parson were that he blamed the players not the manager.

You have to think that reading Lamberts quotes some players have sealed their fate, have to think Akpan is one of them

By the sound of things most of what was left rested at Portman Road.

Graham is our key player. He is all round striker we need.

Hopefully we sign him permanent in the summer and build the squad good enough for promotion

Found Chaddy's posts on this thread from last night- 'another rubbish ref decision'. This was then followed by 'Chris Sutton and Andy Bayes on Radio Lancashire are moaning/complaining about how poor the ref has been tonight'.

Now, fair enough, he's not there, but if the radio's on, he's listening to the radio and posts reactively out of frustration, how many of us can say we've never done that?

Something yours truly has been saying for about 6 months. Great player.

I'm sorry but he's not a great player or anywhere close. He is a player scoring a lot of goals for one of the top teams in league 2, he is also a player who looked nowhere near the standard required for the championship against us and was comprehensively outplayed by Ward.

It's a balancing act by Lambert as he can't go in cracking heads all the time because if the V's don't back him we'll be stuck with largely the same squad. Last night sounds a bit like the Shrewsbury cup game earlier this season were a lot of back ups are given a chance but didn't show up and the regulars decided to treat it like a training game.

Difficult for the manager but it shows take the intense approach away which largely revolves around Graham and we are back to were we where at the beginning of the season. Even if he doesn't get much backing if he doesn't show Brown and Henley the door at least I think i'll give up. Don't tell me there isn't better out there who we could get even for free !

Thanks to DE for a balanced and fair report of the game. Confirms what I gleamed from the reporting on the Radio.

As for Rotherham, etc. There is a reason that Rotherham are very close to the bottom and a reason Ipswich are just outside the playoffs, one has consistently won games whereas one has consistently lost them. This all points to Ipswich winning on Saturday. You don't get to be in the bottom 3 by looking like beating teams.

Thank god we got a win against boro, had we not we'd have been in a very worrying position.

We're not safe yet, although with some more than winnable home games left, there's no reason we should go down.

Don't wanna think about that. Roll on Saturday

They are only winnable if the manager puts a proper team out instead of some of the rubbish he picks. Next time Brown is on the field I will walk out. He will never score in this division. Absolutely abysmal.

Hats off to the Travelling Blues. Proper supporters.

This season just needs to end. There's only so much mediocrity and inconsistency you can stomach.

Absolutely but imagine paying all that money and travelling all that way then seeing the team the manager puts out. He is letting them down and needs telling that it is not on.

Varney had time with us, got the same grief and never scored, yet a promotion chasing team bring him on tonight.... Mick McCarthys opinion or a fan on here?

Nobody thinks CB is the quality we want, but we are playing a hand we have. Why play youngsters who are not ready? Do you think he would've signed Jackson, or played Bennett upfront like he has if we had a super youth ready to burst on the scene?

Ridiculous once again.

Stop trying to defend Brown's inclusion. It is indefensible.

Feel sorry for those who went. Heroes all of them.

However, 10 games in 31 days and 7 games coming up in April means the Manager has to do some juggling I guess, even though he must know he's on a hiding to nothing.

Personally I only had one hope and expectation when Lambert was appointed and that was that we avoid the drop. We will but unless he'd been appointed I think we would have been relegated. That puts recent results into perspective for me.Two wins will do it.

Like others, can't wait for the season to end. Can't wait for the lemons to leave and the new guys to come in and for some excitement to return. If that doesn't happen I'll feel totally betrayed and I won't be alone. So Venkys, wake up or get out.

Stop defending Chaddy. He's perfectly capable of defending himself - and of dishing it out!

I wouldn't be a very responsible moderator if I didn't step in where it was necessary now would I? As I've said time and again, if people don't like Chaddy's posts they can just ignore him. The simplest solution all around and stops the same questions dominating threads that could just as easily be asked via PM if people are so interested in the answer?

I tried to post this last night but my phone was doing odd things. Sky Sports News showed the penalty incident within seconds of it happening so I wondered why people were jumping down a poster's throat for commenting on it despite not being at the game?
