Well that was enjoyable. I think it's splitting hairs to say we only played well when we went down to ten men. We were never seriously troubled all game by a Brentford team who were sloppy in possession and generally ineffective. Steele's contribution might look good on telly but our defence was rarely troubled. They are a sloppy team.

We played well without looking like we would carve any clear openings. Gomez is a luxury player for me. A kind of experienced Rochina.

No one played badly. But in my opinion, Lenihan is a player in the making considering where he has come from and so quickly. A battler, a bit like the Axe but potentially much better. Conway had a good game, always giving 100% for the team. Graham is great at making life hard for the opposition. This didn't always bring obvious results but you could see today that he is a nightmare to play against. Akpan put in a hardworking shift. Marshall concentrated on his defending when it was needed.

I like Watt who seems an unlikely fan's favourite. He was only on for a short time but held the ball up well and has a touch of arrogance that I think we need.

Overall, an efficient team performance.

Would've, could've, should've? Who cares? This is the kind of performance that the likes of Burnley have been turning in week after week. Maybe for our fans it is not enough as we are so far behind the pack. But, I for one, see the makings of a Kendall-esque group here. Who can complain about a ten man Rovers team going on to win the game with a late winner?

So, lastly, a word for Shane Duffy. I was right behind the goal when he scored. Believe me, the tv pictures don't do justice to his celebration at all. The lad was completely ecstatic. His face was pure emotion. This is what we need. Scoring the goal and celebrating like he did WITH the fans showed his passion and commitment. We were carried along with his reaction. If we are going to push on, we need Duffy's 'heart on your sleeve' approach right through the team.

Fantastic from the fans, today. Proud to be a Rover amongst all the Premier League types down in the capital. COYB

You're right about the Burnley thing, radio Lancs popped over during commentary and they said Burnley have been very poor it's all Wolves, they've just hit the post. Literally seconds later it flashed back Bumley 1 Wolves 0, typical.

I've not seen them perform well yet in footballing terms but they defend that 6 yard area with ease and take their odd chances that come along clinically. I'll take that all season long next season from us if it gets us results. On here would make interesting reading as always though

I was confident of winning this game and that never waned even when we went down to ten men. Brentford never really laid a glove on us today and most of their better moments came from our errors. Lambert deserves credit for a brave substitution by bringing Watt on. He could have easily gone like for like with a big man up front by bringing Brown on but I think his experience sniffed the chance of a win with a bit of skill rather than a target man. When we went down to ten we became resolute and stood strong, heading, tackling and getting blocks in.

Delighted with the win and the manner of it, travelling back with three points in the bag certainly makes the journey pass quicker. Credit to the fans again today and ultimately I was more pleased with the win for them rather than the players.

They've got a nice habit of usually just scoring one more than they concede.

It's also that knack of scoring against the run of play when they are under a spell of intense pressure then bang one long punt/break away and it's in. Knocks the stuffing out of the oppo.

The fans that have been travelling week in week out deserved those scenes at the end!

Totally agree Tom M delighted for big Shane and the fans down there great celebrations. Hes cost the team enough point's this season so its good to see him pay some back.

A welcome win after the Ipswich defeat and a much happier trip back than on Tuesday night! For all their possession Brentford looked very poor and posed little threat to Rovers' defence, even when down to ten men. Graham worked himself to a standstill - chasing and harrying the opposition - whilst cool play by Watt set up the chance for Duffy to smash home. Not a fluid footballing performance but a resolute one which earned the points - exactly the short of performance required at times during a season to win promotion. Once again the referee was extremely poor - the standard in the Championship is shocking and it's time the authorities started to weed out officials who are clearly out of their depth.

I hope thats not true, on his day he can be a good winger but has gone off the boil recently. I trust Lamberts judgement to give him a new contract. Could jus be me being glass half full.

Was it Lambert ? Or was it done before he arrived ?

I agree about grafters getting you out of the league. You'd have to be a bloody good team to carry anybody who's not these days.

There is no substitute for skill. Every successful team have at least one flair player.

Just looking at the stats in todays paper. We had 4 players booked plus Hanley getting 2 more to get a red. Was it that sort of game ? At least four teams in our league had 5 bookings and the rest of the games had plenty of bookings. Referees seem to be reaching for cards much more these days.

It's good to see Duffy getting excited about scoring but putting himself on a card wasn't that smart in my opinion.

Let's say a minute or two later he'd had to take one for the team. We'd have been down to 9 players and both centre halves would have been out of the PNE game.

Four of the yellow cards were for technical offences. Two were handball, one for dissent and another for an over excessive goal celebration. The referee was so inconsistent and quite often random in his decision making it was difficult for the players and fans to understand what his tolerance levels were.

We've got a flair player - Gomez. Is that what we want?

We want one that turns up every week. He was anonymous again yesterday. A Wigan supporting mate warned me that he'd only turn up every 5/6 games.

Only just seen Duffy's celebration this morning, couldn't see anything from the top tier (which is the most uncomfortable stand I've ever tried to sit in, the lack of leg room meant I had to stand at the back. Thankfully they'll be in a new stadium next season but one).

Our players celebrated at the final whistle like they'd won a cup final, there's plenty of passion in the squad. Happy trip back for a change :D
