Rooney will start the 1st game regardless of form. He's been pants for years but Woy will be too dull witted and cautious to do anything different. Wilshire will probably get injured opening the complimentary peanuts on the flight over to France if picked.

If Rooney plays as an attacking midfielder then I'm happy with that. Barkley is too raw and makes far too many wrong decisions to play with what will be an already inexperienced attack.

No way should he be used as a striker now though, we've got at least three that are better than he is.

.............. Dier ..... Alli

Chamberlain Rooney Sterling

.................... Kane

..................... Dier

...... Milner ................... Alli

................... Rooney

......... Vardy ........... Kane

Depending whether we are 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 diamond, they're what I'd go for (Milner and Chamberlain can be replaced if someone else picks up some form between now and May).

Vardy's the best striker in English football, on current form. If he isn't picked then it confirms my suspect theory that the starting 11 is picked with sponsorship at the back of everyones mind.

Not really...he's only scored 4 in his last 16 or something like that.

Harry Kane is on fire, his goalscoring record after the initial drought is outstanding.

Well he is, Whoscored (which Premier League clubs use for statistics) have him as a better average performance than Kane by 0.01.

For reference, their current england 11 based on form (over the whole season, having completed 5 or more games) would be:

Butland

Tomkins Smalling Francis Rose

Lennon Barkley Henderson Alli

Vardy Kane

Have to agree with this. Vardy is surely a total shooin now.

We have seen many times before major tournaments players from the more unfashionable clubs being left out, its happened to us on occasions, so i'd not be so sure Vardy even makes the squad.

Harry Kane is a definite.

No way will Roy leave Rooney at home so he's number 2

Sturridge?

Welbeck?

On paper all four players above offer more to the team than Vardy, be interesting so watch what transpires.

As I said il bet any money with you that Vardy is in the squad.Vardy offers something different to all the above strikers,Hodgson is clearly a fan he had him in squads when Leicester were at the bottom end of the table.Personally I think if all fit he will take five strikers,Rooney,Kane,Vardy,Sturridge and wellbeck.I would put my life savings on Vardy being in the squad,if I was in charge I would be starting with Kane and Vardy, but more than likely it will be Rooney and Kane up top,and Vardy's being brought on later, the guy has the blistering burst of pace that none of the other strikers have..as Joey said he is a shoe in for the squad

I think Woy is a Vardy fan, he was called up last season and he wasn't even scoring goals at that point.

I'm expecting Sturridge to get injured again before the end of the season, but if he doesn't I expect we'll take all five (with Rooney doubling as a midfielder and Welbeck a winger).

You could well be right, time will tell.

When you say Vardy offers something different to the others strikers, yes he does, far less ability in my opinion, and his role at Leicester is so far away from the role he'll be asked to play for England that is why I don't think he's a 'shoe in'.

We will have to agree to disagree. But imo Vardy's attributes are a lot more dangerous to the opposition than wellbeck. He has pace and a determination that frightens defenders and he has proven this season that he can score goals. He has been in every squad,in the top 3 goalscorers in the premier league this season, his team look like winning the premier league...he will be in the squad I have absolutely no doubt about it

Care to elaborate or is that asking to much?

Posters talking about Vardy starting in France, I doubt he'll even get picked in the squad let alone be in the starting 11.

About the quality of the squad, I could go through many reasons to be optimistic about our chances of a semi final spot, only France, Germany and Spain are above the rest of the competing teams

Well go on the roverandout, let's have the 'many' reasons why you think England will do well in the Euros, let's nail those colours to the mast, then we can refer back after the event.

England will get nowhere until a manager has the guts to drop Rooney. He's been playing on newspaper and Sky reputation for years.

After todays events ,I am not convinced the Euros will go ahead ...I hope I am wrong , France is a big country and will need a lot of policing along with good intelligence !

If we don't go ahead with it we might as well give up... Bloody hell. What happened in Brussles and Paris was tragic but lets put in in context - not even two hundred people were killed between Paris and Brussles. Doubtless more will be killed in the future but it is hardly the scale where we should be scared and hide. We have to redouble the security effort and soldier on.

If we cancel the euros it will be a huge achievement for ISIS and the other knobjockeys.

They won't even consider it and they shouldn't. Otherwise you might as well cancel anything requiring a crowd.

Unfortunately its hard not to see a major football tournament or venue being hit at some point. Not sure about the worst in other countries but could definitely see something terrorism related topping the Hillsborough figure. International tournament, Champions League and probably the Premier League would be the top 3 for ISIS and others. The biggest story ever in football is yet to happen as far as I'm concerned.

When it does its almost certainly going to be related to this. I don't like having such a bleak outlook over this but its the reality of the World these days.

A security guard stopped one of the french terrorists from entering the stade de france.

Id agree though, you cannot cancel major events, you just have to ramp up the security.

Italy never really changed from that basic Azzurri Blue shirt. German has had bolder designs on theirs' but it looks a bit like they are back to the basic white shirt.

I'll look at the designs later; I do prefer tradition with sure, some variances being okay.

I thought there was also some talk that this fellow they arrested in Belgium this past week who aided that Paris attack, Abselam(?), one of the terrorists it sounded like got cold feet and did not detonate his bomb.

Who the f*** is Rooney?

I got even more joy out of that than our 5-1 win in 2001 tbh. Hellfire I'm buzzing! Can't remember feeling like that about England in a LONG time!
