Lambert favours a 'scrapper' up front, he's practically said as much. As w*nk as Brown might be, he's the only recognised striker (other than Graham) who can play that role. No more square pegs and all that.

Have you ever seen him live? He can't play that role. He is a big lad but he never wins headers, and he is never even close to being on the end of chances. No matter what role he is trying to do, he is not doing it.

He tries but he is just garbage and nowhere near championship level.. I think what really winds people up is he's on a good wage for being S@@@ some people only get what he's on weekly in a year and they require us to pay for the privilege

Put aside the fact that Brown is the worst centre forward we've ever seen, on a good wage, never scored... Some very decent fans actually clapped him when warming up against West Ham and totally blanked them, he can @#/? off the useless tw*t. For those giving credit to a proffessional footballer on 10k a week for "working hard" need to have a bloody word with themselves, the least you expect of any proffessional.

It's all very well to say Brown "works hard" but I would like to know how much hard work he does to make himself a better player. Does he spend hours practising to improve his game? I doubt it. Running round and trying for 20 minutes once a week sn't a lot to ask for a salary of £500k or whatever it is.

The buck stops with the managers that have picked him, not the player himself in my opinion McClarky.

The manager sees him day In day out, if he wasn't putting in the effort he'd not be getting picked, like Best wasn't.

As a set of supporters we've never been the most tolerant. Wilcox was one of the best wingers we've probably ever had, he took abuse week in week out, Sherwood was another, very good midfield player slagged off almost weekly, some sections of the support are just clueless, not aimed at you by the way.

Wilcox took abuse before he became one of the best wingers we've ever had. Admittedly this was wrong, he was only 21 but I remember him being a liability at the time and a real weak link. Then he suddenly became a totally different player. Once that happened I didn't hear one person give him grief. Credit to Dalglish for seeing in him what a lot of people couldn't, and sticking with him.

Wilcox was getting abuse right through his career at Ewood booth, especially from the Riverside and I disagree he was a liability, he was young and still learning his trade.

But thats some Rovers fans for you.

I was in the BE enclosure (the good old Nutall St stand) and when he became good I remember him silencing his most vocal critics.

Blimey, I remember the Riverside being expensive back then being the only seated area. I was only a student and affording that back then was like affording a Chelsea season ticket right now :D

I think you will find both have similar scoring records just brown has not scored recently and tries even when he is not scoring.

As I've said before, I would try and be equally effective. Best is a pillock but he can play football I bit.

I find it hard to believe Brown is on 10k per week. The previous intelligentsia weren't that stupid.

And yes I'm even including Shaw in that.

Brown is on half that much, same as Varney was on.

I'm inclined to believe the Doncaster chairman Gav knowing whow was paying Gary.

You'd believe a sour grapes comment over a professional who'd worked for the club for 9 years prior to being manager, and 5 before Venkys even arrived.

Personally I think that's extremely paranoid. We'd never hear the exact truth but in estimation - brown earns around a 6th of what Leon best did.

If that doesn't make people realise why we are in this situation, then nothing ever will.

Thats not what the Doncaster chairman reported at the time.

Roll on the summer when he can move on and we can put everything behind us.

Even if he's only on 5k pwk I refuse to believe there wasn't better out there that could have been brought in wit a little bit more gumption.

Personally I reckon he's on a modest weekly amount that probably can turn into 10 pwk with bonuses. Maybe it was a crafty money saving move by GB if it's a contract weighted heavily in GOAL bonuses..................

The fact it was "sour grapes" which the report also mentioned Spurr if I remember correctly, says a lot - they obviously wanted Brown. We've obviously seen that they where right to get shut but ultimately they wanted their player of the season.

I know it's one single game - but if Brown did what he did at Sheff Wednesday away last season every game, it wouldn't matter if he scored or not. If you can't remember, YouTube it.

Brown's record for us is laughable, but he looked like a sensible get at the time. Big lad, experienced, available on a free, scored 9 for a relegated Doncaster side the year before. No one could have known it would turn out like this.

Are you sure? Scored ONCE in 24 appearences for Sunderland and has never got to double figures in a season by looks of it.

I've commented on this before. He got lots of abuse and yet wouldn't have left if the club hadn't chosen to sell him.

Of course when he finally snapped and responded to it fans were quick to report him.

I'll refer to him as a legend over some of the "so called" legends. Should have been linked to managers job here just as much as Shearer and Sherwood were.
