Mattyblue Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?t=97350 Made me laugh, plenty of descriptions of us being 'thugs' and the like. Are Blackeye/Bully Boy Rovers back? Hope so, it'll be just like the early Hughes era, good times are on their way!

Stuart Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Re Brown: is being a big unit and 'working hard' for a 10 hour week really the prerequisite for earning a normal annual salary in a month? Pro Rata it's probably treble or quadruple that too. I like footballers to be able to play football, and I like strikers to score goals. Not a single one on two years isn't good enough.

Gomez plays 1 game in 6 apparently, is he worth 4 times Browns wages for looking pretty? Brown isn't good enough by any stretch but he tries and that's all you can ask for if the manager picks him.

Two players who are picking up wages that they aren't earning.

Neil Weaver Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 hes scored though So did Best. So did Murphy. So did Etuhu.

I really don't agree Stuart. Brown earns his wages by playing football, training hard and giving his all, the fact he's not good enough isn't his problem, its the managers for picking him and the club for paying it, thats not Browns fault all he can do is try his best and he's doing that. If he wasn't trying and strolling around the place looking pretty then I'd be on your side, but the mans giving his best with limited ability and you can ask no more. hes scored though If he's trying his best for the shirt I have no problems with him at all, he doesn't pick the side of pay his own wages.
Paul Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 You're quite right GAV what constantly surprises me is how people fail to see this argument. I've concluded there's a section, quite a large one, of our support who simply have to have a list of players to bash on a regular basis. It makes for very tedious reading.
Stuart Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 We really should be looking for so much better than Brown. I've concluded that there's a section, thankfully quite a small one, of our support who seem to think that we will have any kind of success with players like Brown in the team and blindly accept whatever dross is served up just because they wear a Rovers badge. These are the same people who kept Kean in a job for so long with similar excuses.
ABBEY Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 So did Best. So did Murphy. So did Etuhu. which speaks volumes on how awful brown is.

He's not a good player, but calling him a wage stealer when others like best, murphy and etuhu are mentioned is crazy -Brown is no disgrace to the shirt like those previously mentioned 3. Again, if he performed like he did in the away against last sheff weds last season, he wouldn't need to score. He wouldn't even be playing if it wasn't for injury so I'm with Paul. Big sections of the BRFC faithful love to bash players.
ABBEY Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Ok he has had one good game in nearly two years you win Mr Contrary
Backroom DE. Posted April 12, 2016 Backroom Posted April 12, 2016 A striker always needs to chip in with a few goals. When I watched Brown play against Ipswich a few weeks back I didn't think he was that bad. He won a few headers, had a couple of nice touches and held the ball up on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately he never once came close to threatening the Ipswich goal, leaving an ineffective Simeon Jackson running around like a headless chicken trying to get the ball off the Ipswich back four. We should be aiming for far higher than the likes of Brown and Jackson, even as substitutes. We're not going to get out of this league with players of that quality amongst the ranks, if anything we'll head in the other direction, as this season has proven. On the other hand... He works really hard He works really hard Big Chris Brown He works really hard ... kind of has a ring to it.

ABBEY Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Exactly. Haters gonna hate.Aye Rhodes better than brown

Absolutely, couldn't agree more Stuart, but what can we do if the manager picks the player? boo him for running himself into the ground? Thats the difference, he may well be awful but the lads trying, and I maintain as fans you can ask no more if the manager picks him. Taylor was a poor footballer also, but he gave 150% every game, can't ask anymore of the lad.
den Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Aye Rhodes better than brown We all know we have to do better than Brown Abbey, I don't think any poster thinks otherwise. There is a reluctance from some of the haters though, to give him credit for anything he does. Grafting hard, chasing lost causes, not letting the oppos back four have any easy time on the ball does contribute to the cause, but the haters won't even give him that. Apparently, they believe that that side of the game doesn't matter. They've been reading too many Roy of the Rovers comics. Everyone was prepared to acknowledge Rhodes attributes, but not everyone is prepared to acknowledge Browns, - however minimal they are.
Lancaster Rover Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 It's the age old argument with some posters on here. Rhodes had no negatives, Brown has no positives. In reality they both have plenty of each, as do most championship players. I'd rather Brown wasn't a Rovers player and that we had a wealth of better players to pick from up but he is and we don't and whilst that is the case as long as he gives his all whilst wearing a Rovers shirt I will forgive him being lacking the requisite quality to play in this league. Before anyone jumps on my Rhodes v Brown comparison, its not. Rhodes is a better player, I'm not disputing that.
Stuart Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Exactly. Haters gonna hate. I know you've done it deliberately den but I've got to say it...A guy who scored 80-odd goal for us "didn't do enough and we are better off without". A guy who's earning a fortune and scored precisely zero goals for us but ran about a lot in one match "is trying his best and we should lay off". C'mon!
Al Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 So did Best. So did Murphy. So did Etuhu. All better than Brown.

He would not be getting picked if we had better options.Even worst, it looks like we are going to have the age old debate about Lowe again soon. I can see it coming. We have to do a lot lot better. Oh, and Taylor least scored a few. He'd be the pick of the three of them - and he's been binned! Taylor 73 games (36 starts), 5 goals, 2 assists Lowe 142 starts (128 starts), 1 goal, 9 assists Brown 39 games (19 starts), 0 goals, assists 3
Gav Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 All better than Brown. Better footballers maybe, but better attitudes never.
