I've not booed the lad. The issue is people defending him as a footballer. He would not be getting picked if we had better options.

Even worst, it looks like we are going to have the age old debate about Lowe again soon. I can see it coming. We have to do a lot lot better.

Oh, and Taylor least scored a few. He'd be the pick of the three of them - and he's been binned!

Taylor 73 games (36 starts), 5 goals, 2 assists

Lowe 142 starts (128 starts), 1 goal, 9 assists

Brown 39 games (19 starts), 0 goals, assists 3

I never thought you'd boo him Stuart, its was a wider point really.

We have to do better I agree, but whilst we're in the sh1t situation created by those idiots in Pune we can ask no more of our bang average players than to give 110%, and thats exactly what Brown does and exactly what Jason Lowe did on Saturday.

Give me 11 Browns over 11 Etuhus or 11 Danny Murphys any day of the week.

I can't put it any clearer than that, yes he's cr@p, but he's giving his all for the shirt and thats all I ask for as a paying customer if the manager picks him.

Just how on earth are you suppose to win games with eleven Brown's Gav or even one ?

A guy who scored 80-odd goal for us "didn't do enough and we are better off without". A guy who's earning a fortune and scored precisely zero goals for us but ran about a lot in one match "is trying his best and we should lay off".

First sentence close . Second sentence tailored to suit you argument.

I was always happy to praise the part of Rhodes game where he excelled, but you belittle absolutely anything that Brown does. That's the point.

You should be asking yourself:

"Just how on earth are you suppose to win games with Venkys running the club"

Because the likes of Brown would never be anywhere near the place if it wasn't for those idiots.

Not true. I've always acknowledged, nay championed, that ONE great game he had. The lad peaked though and I've not seen anything g close from him since. The idea that Brown "runs none stop" is as mythical as the idea that Rhodes never ran. I'd even go as far as to say that Rhodes also gave 100% - at what he was good at. He hasn't good at holding up the ball and doesn't have pace. But he was damned good at scoring. Yeah, I know, "take away the goals yada-yada" but you still have a threat and a defender with one eye on him (which I'm the only person who saw that Gestede thrived on that half-second distraction that he brought). But take away Brown's closing down and you really don't have much at all.

ive no list ,I can see brown is stealing wages on the pretence hes a footballer, that I do have on a piece of paper.

go paul name ANYTHING apart from run like headless chicken that brown does well .

I didn't say you had a list. What is quite clear, and I'm not suggesting this includes you, is a section of our support almost enjoy kicking a number of our players on a regular basis. It's gone on for years.

I've stated plenty of times I think we only have 3-4 players worth keeping if promotion is the aim. Do

I think Chris Brown is good enough? No. Do I think it's Brown's fault? No. He's a footballer, paid to play and whenever he does he gives his best. It isn't enough but it's all he has. The only person to blame for Brown's situation is Gary Bowyer.

If you were offered a three year contract, from which it would be very difficult to be sacked, at say £10k / week would you turn it down? This is all Brown has done. He's a very limited footballer who has been over promoted. That is not his fault.

Anyone who watches will see Brown is a physical handful for defenders, works hard, is a target for balls from defence and occasionally makes some quite good lay offs. We need better but don't blame him for just doing his best.

All this "haters" business is ridiculous. There are far more important things in life to waste energy on hating a footballer. I doubt anyone on here as ever had any real cause to truly hate anyone or anything.

Don't blame Chris Brown. If there is a target then it is the person who signed him, and that was in the past. We need to look forward.

I went to Wolves btw and CB played his socks off. He defended well and made some vital defensive headers as well as some decent touches. He gave 100% which is more than I can for some others in the last 2 to 3 seasons.

I doubt if CB will remain. What we need to focus on, or pray for, is that PL gets some meaningful funding and he stays. You can clearly see the improvement in football under PL....the players however are not good enough (Inc CB) and we need investment.

that's not proof to be fair

It's proof that you don't follow the argument.

He's an excellent finisher in the box, said it dozens of times.

I know this is the wrong thread, but mods - feel free to move it to the right one.

I remember an interview - I think in the LT - when he first joined us. He was asked how he manages to score as many times as he does. His answer was telling to me. He said he simply concentrates on making good contact with the ball. That's what he'd done all of his career. Think about that though. Every striker tries to do that, and it sounds easy and obvious, but even at PL level not many strikers make consistently good contact with balls coming to them. Not often you see Rhodes snatch at a chance or badly mishit the ball. He gets a high percentage of shots on target.

He has little, if anything else to his game though and pretty much, every other manager knows that. In modern day football that isn't enough. End of story - it isn't enough.

Now for your views on Brown?

To coin a phrase, Lambert has to wee with the willy he's got. Yes, Brown has been mostly bobbins for us, and it would be a compliment to call him a poor man's Kuqi, but he only plays him because there's not another senior striker after Graham who can put himself about and compete for long balls.

Well that was interesting and insightful. Just what I expected to be totally honest.

Maybe you just don't like talking football Abbs?

You know what Lowe did well for someone who's been out for so long, played the full 90 also which is important.

I believe with the right coaching Lowe could be a decent player, since Venkys came along the coaching has been decimated, very much like the club in general.

Not wanting to drag it out but if you listen to his interview when he joined Boro he basically acknowledges his short comings and explains why he plays like he does. He knows what he is and so do most of us it's not like he's pretended to be any different, he can't do what he can't do even when he tries.

Brown is nothing more than a glaring example of how far we've fallen and how we've been mismanaged even by people who've done some good. He's been regarded as a joke but a trier everywhere he's been apart from Donny probably. He'll have had stick everywhere he's been as well hence his non interaction with fans which doesn't help him.

Just another very lucky modern day footballer who's managed to end up operating several levels above his ability and earning more than he ever should. Great squad man if you've got 3 decent strikers already but somehow I think he was always brought here to be a starter given how he was brought in and what was going on at the time, i.e the intention was always to ship out Rhodes & Rudy.

I think he could have been, too, but he's not a kid any more. At 24 I would be surprised if he improves much further. It's a shame as the potential was there, but under Bowyer he never evolved beyond 'having a good engine'. It's not a bad attribute to have, arguably essential in the lower tiers of professional football, but his lack of technical ability will mean he'll never go beyond this level imo.

I'm not sure about that DE, you can improve your game by learning tactical nous, better positional play both defending and attacking, plus for a midfielder making important runs, especially into the box.

All stuff that can be coached in my opinion, but i do know what you mean about his age.

Yeah, I'm not saying he can't improve at all. You're right, all of that stuff can be taught and applied to any footballer to improve them regardless of age. It's how good managers get more out of players than poor managers, combined with the right man management to put the team in the right frame of mind.

Unfortunately, I think the time has passed for Lowe to improve significantly on a technical level, which will hinder him in terms of moving up any further in the football pyramid. Admittedly, that won't be a problem if he's planning to remain here, as we won't be going up under the current owners any time in the near future.

Even if he does, I'd still expect Venky's to sabotage it somehow. Lambert gets the funds, makes bids... then by the time Venky's approve of his targets the window is closed and in a panic we sign another set of freebies and re-sign Williamson for another season

Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no faith in them to get things right, and as much as hardly anything they've done has made sense, it REALLY wouldn't make sense that they hired Lambert and a backroom staff without backing him properly.
