booth Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Benched at M'boro today again. So I think that's 2 goals so far from 13 starts / appearances from the bench. The guy can't even hold down a place in a team in the Championship surrounded by quality players. Give up the ghost - I think it was highway robbery what we extracted from M'boro for, IMV, a very average Championship player. I'd rather go off the 85 goals he scored for us in a very average to poor side rather than him being stuck in a team that's doing well and him being surplus. I'm totally amazed that anyone thinks we wouldn't do better with him right now. You're basically saying you'd take Chris Brown over him. Right now that cash we "extracted" is only any good if it's reinvested and how likely is that?

Yet he is still 7 goals clear as Rovers top scorer. The problem is not (just) selling Rhodes it's (more) not replacing him.

Graham probably won't be here next season and couldn't be relied upon injury wise if he was and the others are atrocious. Even Koita was better than our current options.
Veevs Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Following Rovers is a depressing pastime at the minute. Since when has it not been depressing.. we get a good manager in but can't fund him, history shows we have since the tards from Pune took over we give investment to the wost of managers and sack the best. I know people don't like mentioning Rholdemort but the current shambles simply highlights the folly of selling him on the last day of the transfer window without attempting to properly replace him, and by that I mean not with either a 30 year old on loan or freebies. It was always a risky proposition but Rhodes didn't fit.. he needs a team built around his er.. style... current form he is not setting the world alight but then when your used to being the teams focus and your not getting every forward ball you won't be able to keep it up.

The problem is not (just) selling Rhodes it's (more) not replacing him. We did replace him. Believe it or not we've had eleven players out there every week scoring more goals as well.
booth Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 We did replace him. Believe it or not we've had eleven players out there every week scoring more goals as well. Did we f***.

RevidgeBlue Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 We did replace him. Believe it or not we've had eleven players out there every week scoring more goals as well. So how come we only have nineteen points from our last twenty games? (If we draw today)
Veevs Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Did we f***. We scored more without him tbf as a team.. this season at least.

At the moment we're in line to win absolutely sod all anyway though, and at least we could rely on JR to chip in with the goals to avoid relegation. If Lambert leaves, where's our assets? From what I can see we'll be left with no skill at all and no way to buy it in. We scored more without him tbf as a team.. this season at least. We didn't replace him.

Better scoring ability then Le'Tissier? are you on drugs? Did you ever actually watch Le'Tissier?
Mercer Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I'd rather go off the 85 goals he scored for us in a very average to poor side rather than him being stuck in a team that's doing well and him being surplus. Right now that cash we "extracted" is only any good if it's reinvested and how likely is that? We got £9million, plus a very likely £2million more, for a player, IMV, worth nowhere near that as evidenced by the fact that there was only one club in the queue at that price. I think Rhodes was a 'flat track' bully who scored goals for fun except where and when it really mattered. No real PL interest, no real recognition at international level, I think says it all. If M'boro go up, would be no surprise to see Rhodes loaned out / sold to a Championship club in Jan. 2017.

Stuart Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 We did replace him. Believe it or not we've had eleven players out there every week scoring more goals as well. Really den? I know you hate him but you need to re-tune your abacus mate.
garnersfags Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 He has barely started for Boro. Yet he is still 7 goals clear as Rovers top scorer. The problem is not (just) selling Rhodes it's (more) not replacing him. Hear this. The Rhodes debate is irrelevant but Lambert 'genuinely' thought a forward line of Graham, Brown and Jackson would create and score more between them than Rhodes on his own. He was wrong. To the majority of Lambofiles, please explain the relative success of Warnock and Lee Johnson who were both challenged to take their new teams away from relegation before building in the summer for a stronger next season. Sounds familiar, the difference is that they have succeeded, which will result in their financial backers being confident to invest next season. Lambert has been unable to better the championship record of Gary Bowyer and Steve Kean. YES, I DO believe he'll improve, but that's not my point....
Mercer Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 So how come we only have nineteen points from our last twenty games? (If we draw today) Think it would have been less with Rhodes as our focal point !
matt83 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Snooze fest here. Few songs on the concourse but @#/? poor from us. It's that desperate the wolves fans trying to bait their other stands into singing because nowt coming from here.
AllRoverAsia Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 We scored more without him tbf as a team.. this season at least. Well ermmmmm we would after he was sold
Al Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 judge just broke his leg at ipswich Shame he was doing really well.
booth Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Think oit would have been less with Rhodes as our focal point ! It'll be a lot less next season if we don't get any money and Lambert leaves.
G Somerset Rover Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Well there's that Josh King lad scoring again in the PL. Never good enough for the Championship...
Neal Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 King scores for Bournemouth. No end product they said... More goals for Bounemouth than Rhodes has for Boro and in a better league.
